Project Engineering Manager

Our client, a major Oil and gas EPC is looking to hire a Project Engineering Manager for their operation in Calgary on a long term contract basis. Reporting to the Vice President of Sustaining Capital Projects the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

The candidate will be responsible for:
* All Engineering activities on the project.
* Apprising Director Engineering and Engineering chiefs on the status of Engineering on the Project.
* Maintaining good client relationships.
* Implementing standards, procedures, and executing plans to maintain the required levels of technical quality.
* Providing engineering discipline input in the preparation of project schedules identify risks and suggest mitigation recommendations.
* Recognizing the impact of design not only on technical side, but also cost and schedule. Coordinating with project engineers to consider cost and schedule impacts before proceeding with design changes.
* Identifying and resolving interdisciplinary issues on a project with the assistance of Director Engineering.
* Ensure proper communication and coordination between the Engineering disciplines and other departments on the project.
* Participate and, ensure participation of various Engineering Discipline Leads and Specialists and provide valuable input to the design development, design/engineering reviews (i.e. P&IDs, HAZID,HAZOP, Constructability, 3D Model, Value Improvement Practices etc.)
* Resolve technical and/or organizational concerns with Engineering Discipline Leads as required and involving specific Department Chiefs when necessary.
* Encourage the use of new skills and technologies in Design Engineering.

The ideal client will have:
* Canadian permanent residency or work permit.
* Strong and proven SAGD experience.
* B.Sc. in Engineering or engineering related training or industry experience or equivalent.
* Registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGGA.
* Excellent coordination skills able to organize the deliverables from several engineering disciplines.
* Fifteen or more years of experience with an EPC or relevant company.
* Field experience at operating site an asset.
