Position: Drilling Engineer

Location: Houston, Gulf of Mexico operations

Petroplan is currently working with a private equity backed E&P business who are in the process of increasing their Gulf of Mexico footprint. Due to this continued expansion, a need has arisen within the business to add a Spanish speaking Drilling Engineer to their Gulf of Mexico operations division to assist with the ongoing and upcoming projects on both the US and Mexican side of the Gulf.

In this position, you will report directly into the Drilling Manager and be heavily involved in the planning and execution phases of the drilling program. You will be involved with ensuring that all activities are planned, scheduled and executed to achieve the agreed requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Key challenges will include:

  • Establishing and promoting safety and environmental performance expectations with employees and contractors in accordance with the Company's safety policies and Safe Sound initiative.
  • Preparing operational plans for planned wells and liaising with other departments when required
  • Being responsible for drilling optimization, identifying best practises and running lessons learned when required
  • Travelling to the field is required as and when needed
  • Dealing with third party vendors with a strong focus on cost and performance

Experienced Required

  • Fluent Spanish speaking
  • At least 10 years of Drilling Engineering experience
  • Offshore experience (Gulf of Mexico preferred)

Operations Manager - Upstream

Position: Operations Manager - Upstream

Petroplan is currently working with a small Private Equity backed E&P business in Houston who are in the final stages of securing funding for their operations and are looking to add a highly experience Operations manager to their team, someone with a working understanding of Drilling, Completions and production would be preferred.

The Operations Manager will work very closely with the VP operations to oversee and plan all upstream activities currently ongoing and planned operations. Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and implementing field development planning, with a heavy emphasis on driving profitability
  • Experience with unconventional drilling and completions
  • Act as the leadership focal point for all technical and operational staff, including all production engineers, field superintendents, facilities engineers, land managers and D&C engineers.
  • Working very closely with the HSE team to introduce a strong safety culture

You must have at least 20 years of oil & Gas experience with a Bachelor's of Science, ideally with a strong financial understanding. You will have a very strong understanding of Project management principles and experience working on upstream operations in multiple capacities either Drilling, Completions or production.

Mechanical Engineer II position currently open in an established Calgary based downhole tool manufacturer. My client is a growing organization looking to add experienced engineers in the field of Flow Control, Completions, Well Stimulation, MWD and LWD products. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in company developing new product lines whilst continuously improving manufacturing methods of existing product.
As Senior Engineer, successful candidates will be responsible for the design and development process of completions products.
Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for product design, testing and R&D. This involves initial design and prototyping, calculation overview, design for manufacturing, qualification, documentation, R&D and manufacturing.
  • Review and maintain quality standards in all processes and documentation ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Verify existing test methods and develop new efficient tools and tests.
  • Oversee all staff involved in manufacturing and design process for specific products to ensure quality standards are met and adherence to production schedules.
  • Guide and assist team under product banner, such as R&D, Design, Sales and Manufacturing.
  • Create to workflow schedules to achieve production target and to market goals.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or qualified Mechanical Engineering Technologist with experience.
  • Over 4 years' experience in Design and manufacturing of downhole tools is essential.
  • APEGA registration as P.Eng is preferred.
  • Proficient is design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Experienced leading teams of varied skill levels to achieve set goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • For consideration candidates must have knowledge and experience with flow control and fracturing tool manufacturing

Current vacancy in Calgary in a leading downhole tool manufacturer for both the Canadian and International marketplace. Product lines cover areas of Well Stimulation and Flow Control. The ideal candidate will have a combination of field and sales experience in Drilling, Completions or Well Stimulation.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, qualify and secure sales opportunities in Oil & Gas and other potential marketplaces.
  • Develop, nurture and maintain close working relationships with the decision-makers in the assigned markets including consultants, operator/maintenance and contractors.
  • Influence and assist in preparing technical specifications for the engineering consultants on products.
  • Provide market intelligence to clients during quote preparation.
  • Update and maintain internal sales tracking system on a regular and frequent basis.
  • Develop and maintain project activity reports indicating status (i.e. pre-feasibility, budget, RFQ)
  • Assist in developing yearly sales forecasts.
  • Conduct product/process lunch and learn sessions to the appropriate engineering firms.
  • Work directly with internal engineering team to obtain technical information, project pricing and special requirements.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 - 3 years demonstrated ability to successfully downhole equipment. Field experience regarded as an asset.
  • Technical education and background.
  • A thorough and demonstrated knowledge of the processes involved in the Oil & Gas market place (Conventional - upstream/midstream and SAGD)
  • Superior and effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills required for technical documents review and comment.
  • Better than average computer skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Superior organizational skills - a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a busy team.
