Petroplan are seeking an experienced Project Manager to work for one of our clients, a mid-sized EPC within the petro-chem industry.

Job Overview:

The Project manager will be responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, executive, control and completion of projects, while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments and goals of the organization and clients. The Project Manager will be in charge of schedules, budgets, resources and deliverables for project. Monitors teams to make sure goals and objectives are being kept.

Duties / Responsibilities:

* Identify and establish relationships with strategically important clients
* Coordinate completion of ongoing services and also identify and develop opportunities to grow work scope
* Lead the development of proposals for new scope of work and change orders to address scope growth in existing projects
* Development and implementation of Project Management systems that will become a part of the Company International offering to clients
* "Hands-on" involvement in management of strategically important projects, including:

o Drive project ownership and accountability through seamless progression of project execution responsibilities including project plan estimate and schedule development gate approval, detail engineering, contracting/procurement, field execution mechanical completion, facility start up, operation turn over, and project close outs
o Full oversight and management of projects with a focus on safety, design quality, budget, schedule, and change management process compliance
o Compliance to all client specs as part of project development and detailed engineering activities
o Contractor management and performance oversight to ensure scope expectations are achieved (Engineering / Construction)
o Full compliance to capital projects work processes and procedures
o Execution alignment with project development and project controls groups
o Interface between project group and business units to support progression and completion of business team related project deliverable s
o Regular project updates to support monthly / quarterly project stewardship reports
o Driving quality of execution deliverable s in all project development / execution stages per client quality process
o Overall development and ownership of field quality execution plan to support construction activities

Skills / Experience:

* 15 years of experience in related role
* Strong project management experience, preferably in the petrochemical, refining and oil / gas sector
* Previous EPC/EPCM experience is required
* Multi-discipline experience: knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines (process, civil/structural, instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, piping)
* Working knowledge of planning and control methods
* General understanding of industry and regulatory standards and design criteria
* Proficiency in a variety of standard project management methods and techniques
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Strong organizational, leadership and teamwork skills

We are working with a large oil and gas company who are looking for a Project Manager to join them on their projects in Qatar.

The Project Manager will provide complete project management services for the project assigned to him/ her and covering all aspects of the project from inception to commissioning and handover. The project manager will ensure project is completed on time, within budget, in a safe manner and in accordance with project requirements, specifications and standards.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for leading and coordinating the Project Team formed to provide complete projects management services to execute assigned project.
  • Develop project objectives, strategies and performance indicators
  • Prepare or review and implement project plans such as Project Execution, Risk Management, Assurance, Quality, HSE, interface etc.
  • Participate and monitor Planning, cost Control, Budgeting, Contract Administration, Progress reporting, Change Management and gate approval activities.
  • Manage and coordinate a team of multi discipline Engineers to achieve a cost-effective design through timely resolution of technical and engineering issues.
  • Lead the preparation of tender packages, tendering process, evaluation of tenders and submissions with appropriate recommendations to relevant tender Committees.
  • Lead with the support of project engineers the risk management activities including maintaining risk registers and developing risk management plans to ensure that risks are managed and mitigated.
  • Interface closely with end user and other stakeholders including Government and Statutory authorities and other third-party entities such as JVs.
  • Participate in the processing and resolution and Variations and Contractor claims.
  • Assist and mentor Qatari Engineers with their assigned development program and supervise their progress.

Decision Making Authority

Under the general supervision of the manager, Pipelines and GDS Projects takes decisions on project issues within the framework of respective contract documents and QP procedures and guidelines in close coordination and concurrence with the project team.

Endorses/approves project deliverables as per the project management framework.

Validates and endorses Value of work done against contractor invoices.

Context / Special Features / Challenges

  • Frequent extended working hours may be required, which include out-door field work.
  • Ability to work well in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment. Management of sound inter-personal relationships and effective communication within QP and Contractor Teams.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline from a recognized University
  • Membership in a recognized professional engineering and/or project management association/institution would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of eighteen (18) years relevant experience in engineering, project management and execution of oil & gas projects.
  • Experience managing and executing brownfield projects in resource/petrochemical industry.
  • Experience managing projects as the client/owner, preferably with an IOC.
  • Can demonstrate a "skilled" practitioner level in the following proficiencies: Manage Project Initiation Activities, Manage Feasibility Studies, Manage Concept Optimisation Activities, Manage Engineering Definition Activities, Coordinate Operational Requirements and philosophies into the Project, Manage Construction Activities, Manage Operational Readiness and Assurance Process including Commissioning and Start-up, Handover and Close Out the project, Set up and Manage Project Teams, Develop Project Execution Strategies and Plans, Management of Change (MOC), Manage and Communicate Project Performance, Implement Lessons learnt & Participate in Audits and Reviews, Understand and Manage the Schedule and Resource the Plan, Develop WBS Schedule with Planning Department, Manage Project Cost and Budget, Develop WBS / CBS with Cost Department, Support and Manage Cost Estimate Development and communication, Manage Contracts including Changes and Variations, Understand and Manage GCOC's, Provide Leadership in HSE Management.
  • Can demonstrate a" mastery" practitioner level in the following proficiencies: Manage Project Interfaces, Identify and Manage Project Risks, Manage Contractor Claims and Resolution, Demonstrate Empowering and Inspirational Leadership, Demonstrate Ethics, Compliance and Professionalism
  • Effective communication and team building skills including report writing, presentations and management of meetings.
  • Project management experience of managing, FEED and EPIC of oil & Gas Pipeline projects
  • Experience of managing execution of CO2 and Enhanced Oil Recovery pipelines and related facilities will be advantage.

Petroplan are currently recruiting a specialist position for new and rapidly growing EPCM company based in Calgary, Alberta. Our client currently seeks an experienced Business Development professional with a wide spectrum of experience in the Oil & Gas industry here in Canada. For this role, the preferred candidate would be required to grow and support the fabrication side of the business, promoting the ethos and goals of our client.
A background in fabrication/manufacturing is required for this position along with excellent communication skill and a driven personality.
Responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify and secure business opportunities for current and future growth.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key personal in Calgary through networking and attending industry events.
  • Develop and maintain project activity reports indicating status (i.e. pre-feasibility, budget, RFQ)
  • Assist in developing sales forecasts.
  • Work directly with fabrication to obtain technical information, project pricing and special requirements.
  • Effectively communicate the company ethos and drive the organizations goals and direction.


Requirements:

  • A strong and established network of Oil & Gas contacts.
  • Experienced negotiator, with excellent communication skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience
  • Experience in a Fabrication or Manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Third level degree, ideally in Engineering, Supply Chain or similar.

DESCRIPTION
Current vacancy in an Alberta based company that designs and manufactures oil and gas processing equipment for both the Canadian and International marketplace. Product lines cover surface production equipment from wellhead to pipe line. Specialists in packaged equipment, ranging from single skid units to interconnected multiple skid modules for larger gas processing plants and compression packages.
For this role, my client requires an experienced Project Engineer to work alongside management developing new products, this includes working with teams across the business to ensure project completion.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with management and other essential personnel to develop the design, ensuring alignment with scope.
  • Draft and review technical project documents including: Technical Descriptions, Request for Quote (RFQ), Scope of Work, etc.
  • Support project design and technical scoping, performance of design work, and change management are implemented per project.
  • Provide direct support to Project Manager creating deliverables for decision making.
  • Coordinate the procurement, logistics and shipping of all materials with Supply Chain and Manufacturing.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 - 10 years of experience with Oil & Gas compression systems; e.g. Reciprocating, Centrifugal and Rotary Screw Compressors. Direct experience with oilfield packaged systems is a bonus.
  • Registered P.Eng with APEGA or similar authority.
  • B.Sc. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or similar degree
  • A thorough and demonstrated knowledge of the processes involved in the Oil & Gas market place (Conventional - upstream/midstream and SAGD)
  • Superior and effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Have a proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.
  • Assist sales team as required, this may include answering technical queries or presentations to clients.

Due to rapid growth, our client is in need of an experienced Project Manager with a background in Construction, Trades or Metals. The successful candidate will be energetic with a hands-on project management approach, and an ability to interface with customers.
