Wireline Field Engineer

Position Description:

We are looking for a Field Deployment Specialist who will be based out of our Calgary office in Alberta. The role is to deploy DarkVision’s technology in a wide variety of different jobs across different well types and downhole applications in Alberta and more broadly in the North American market. You’ll be working with a wide variety of oil and gas operators, service companies, deployments systems and personnel and will be personally responsible for the successful execution of each job.

The most important characteristic of the successful candidate is that they are very hard-working and a self-starter. Also, the ability to travel and spend lots of time in the field is an absolute must in this particular role. You’ll be supported by our Operations and Engineering teams, but you’ll be the person on-site who’s responsible for the job itself along with communications to the customer.

Specific Skills Required: This particular role has a few key requirements that a successful candidate would have in order the hit the ground running and be able to get up to speed in a short period of time.

  • Wireline/Logging Experience: Experience deploying other logging technologies using wireline, tractor, coil and various other deployment methods. This would ideally be experience from North American deployments in the US or Canada.
  • Oil Field Service Experience: General experience with downhole equipment, well construction, completions etc. would be another important asset.
  • Technical Background: A technical or engineering background would be helpful in better understanding the technology and how it works, but not a hard requirement.

 

Responsibilities (depending on the candidate’s skills, experience and aptitude, there are a wide variety of potential responsibilities and key areas for contribution):

  • Everything & Anything: There will be a wide assortment of standard and not-so-standard tasks that you’ll be expected to complete, both inside and outside the typical business development umbrella. There’s an entrepreneurial side to the role, so no task will be either above or beneath you.
  • Deployments: Successfully deploy the technology in wells, including mobilization, rig-up, rig-down, communications with site personnel, service companies and ultimately oversee the deployment of the products in each customer’s well.
  • Travel: The successful candidate will travel primarily in Western Canada, but will also travel internationally, largely within North America to deploy the technology with various oil and gas operators. Travel is a key component of the job, and a flexible personal-life that can support a career where time away from home is the norm is an absolute must. If you don’t want to be out of town, you shouldn’t apply for this job.
  • Preparation for Jobs: Ensuring that tools, parts, trucks and critical equipment are checked, cleaned, calibrated and verified for each job is a natural part of deploying the technology. Taking care of the tools, fixing, cleaning, testing and refurbishing.
  • Communications: Quick, clear and effective communication with customers, site personnel and DarkVision staff are your responsibility to ensure deployments are successful and everyone has the information they need.  
  • Trouble-Shooting: Deploying new technology naturally comes with the necessity to troubleshoot new problems that arise on-site in real-time. You’ll be supported by the engineering and operations teams, but the ability to figure things out quickly, improvise and succeed under pressure will be critical to overall job success. The capacity to both anticipate and solve field problems is paramount.
  • Product Input & Feedback: Provide feedback and ideas on how to improve the product, technology and operational processes to increase efficiency, quality and scalability of the overall business. Feedback from the field is critical and will be incorporated directly into the engineering team to improve existing and future products.

Subsea Rock Installation Engineer

This senior level individual will be the technical lead for all marine installation operations. Based in the organization's downtown office initially, however, will be required to work offshore and on in-shore site during execution phases.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring of progress of Marine Rock Installation Contractor in relation to achieving targets associated with design, engineering, preparation, and execution of the identified scope.
  • Management of interfaces between Marine Rock Installation Contractor and the CGS Tow-out and Installation Contractor and CGS Design Contractor
  • Management of all key technical items associated with the work scopes
  • Act as the Lead Client Representative onboard vessels as deemed required


Key Requirements:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree such as Civil, GeoTechnical, or Ocean etc.
  • P. Eng. with PEGNL or eligibility to register
  • 5 - 10 years' experience as a project engineer in the offshore oil and gas industry

  • Ensure that all facilities operating procedures and work activity plans include appropriate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Risk Assessment and precautionary measures in compliance with the company permit to work system and procedure, to minimize risk to personnel, the environment and company assets.
  • Ensure the maximum availability of plant, equipment and machinery in conjunction with the Maintenance department to deliver on the agreed oil production forecast in accordance with the contractual DCQ.
  • Ensure product specification is met in conjunction with the Production Supervisor, Senior Production Engineer, Senior Instrument Engineer and site Laboratory Service Provider.
  • Provide department management with daily reported statistical information regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of the production process streams in terms of oil production, gas production and water production through use of designated well testing programs as directed by the Production Supervisor and the Senior Production Engineer.
  • Ensure compliance with all mandatory legal requirements and company specific requirements in terms of facilities, plant and equipment condition, performance and availability.
  • Ensure direct interfacing takes place daily with the maintenance department and the production wells support teams in a collaborative manner, along with documented daily activity reports in compliance with mandatory operating standards and company requirements.
  • Ensure that agreed department resource competency based training is carried out in conjunction with company training and human resources departments.
  • Provide collaborative support to process facilities engineering group and assist where possible with operations production operating/ technical requirements.
  • Ensure adequate interfacing within the operations maintenance department and functional support groups as directed by the Production Supervisor or as outlined in operations reference and action plans.
  • Act up to the Production Supervisor level as required.

Deliverables

  • Assist the Production Supervisor, Senior Production Engineer and Maintenance Superintendent in the development of production planning and field management/ maintenance plans.
  • In conjunction with the field O & M Planner, assist the Production Supervisor in establishing bridging procedures across functions and planning of maintenance activities, major events, campaign maintenance and scheduled field/ facilities shutdown turnarounds.
  • In conjunction with the field O & M Planner and the Production Supervisor; take responsibility with the assistance of the maintenance department teams (Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation/ Controls) in safe making and handover of plant and facilities as part of planning of maintenance activities, major events, campaign maintenance and scheduled shutdown turnaround activities in conjunction with plant inspection services and process facilities engineer.
  • Provide daily and weekly updates on field and facilities availability highlights/ low lights to the Operations Production Supervisor for input into company reporting systems.
  • Maintain active department involvement, interfacing and demonstrated commitment to all company HSE related initiatives and planned activities.

Experience and/or educational requirements

  • Experience in working in a multi discipline multi-national team on onshore upstream hydrocarbon oil & gas processing plant and facilities in a remote environment.
  • Experience in working in a functional environment (shared services or matrix organization)
  • Experience in interfacing with contracted service providers.
  • Experience in interfacing with major original equipment manufacturer and vendor service providers.
  • Experience in interfacing with project management teams at site.
  • Experienced in Emergency Management and Control as part of an Operations Production Team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Scope and develop problems/opportunities into plant changes.
  • Develop basic process and mechanical deliverables and adhere to the APEGA Professional Management Plan for these deliverables.
  • Work with engineering teams to deliver more complex process/mechanical deliverables as well as incorporate instrumentation, electrical, automation, civil, fixed mechanical, rotating mechanical and structural considerations into solutions.

  • Coordinate multidiscipline teams, engineering and construction activities related to engineering changes

  • Prioritizing and Allocating Work - Understand relative work priorities, delegate work as appropriate, manage competing demands for resources..
  • Ability to lead simple hazard assessments for small changes and ability to participate in HAZOP for larger changes.
  • Ability to generate simple isometrics and assess support using good engineering practice, knowledge of when quantitative stress analysis is required, ability to select piping materials using line class methods, and determine hydrotest pressures.
  • Ability to perform simple hydraulics and line sizing calculations.
  • Familiarity with basic pump types and selection and typical considerations including NPSH requirements.
  • Understanding of DCS and SIS process control systems, understanding of standard instrumentation and communications methods including 4-20 mA and MODBUS protocalls.
  • Understanding of Electrical Heat Trace design including SR and MI as well as motor control practices (VFD and synchronous motor operation).
  • Understanding of Alberta Building Code requirements.
  • Understanding of Civil and Structural Engineering requirements in changes.



Qualifications:

  • Recognized degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • APEGA Registered Professional Engineer or E.I.T.
  • 3 years' experience preferably in SAGD, Heavy Oil, Conventional Oil & Gas.
  • Experience and ability to work within a team-oriented and diverse cultural environment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills

Position: Completion Supervisor

Petroplan is currently working with an expansion focused E&P business who are in the process of increasing rig activity. Due to this continued growth, a need has arisen within the business to add a highly experienced Completion Supervisor to their Permian operations division to assist with the ongoing and upcoming unconventional projects.

In this position, you will report directly into the on site superintendent and act as the focal point for all completion activity. You will be involved with ensuring that all activities are planned, scheduled and executed to achieve the agreed requirements in a safe and efficient manner.

You must have at least 10 years of experience, including 6 years' experience in oil and gas operations working as a Completion Supervisor. Experience working in the Permian is preferred.

Our client is a rapidly expanding, US headquartered, manufacturer who is looking to expand their team by bringing on an Estimator who is experienced with working in architectural metals.

Estimator-Architectural Metals Job Description:

  • Responsible for the reviewing of proposal specifications and architectural drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents for an estimate.
  • Responsible for the reading of design plans and for finding the metal requirements in each plan.
  • Responsible for inside sales and various other duties

Estimator-Architectural Metals Job Requirements:

  • Ideally looking for an individual who has no less than 1 year of experience in the estimating process of Architectural Metals
  • Must have previous experience pulling the metal requirements of plans/drawings
  • No less than an Associates' Degree strongly preferred

Project Cost Estimator

Our client, a large Oil & Gas organization is looking to add a Technical Cost Estimator to their team for a 1 year independent contract based in Fort McMurray. This position is local, therefore, no Fly in Fly out is provided. The individual would have to be based in or around Fort McMurray.

The Position Itself


Reporting to the Estimating Manager, this Individual will be responsible for cost estimating projects within the Project Resources, which includes new construction and sustaining projects. The scope of work includes being responsible for roll up discipline estimates into the main summary sheets, benchmark with other projects, run CEC benchmarking tool and be proficient in presenting their scope of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the estimates produced adhere to the estimating standards and procedures as outlined by the PC Governance and those established in the organization
  • Challenge project teams for alternatives to improve project performance, reduce project costs
  • Provide mentoring / guidance to other team members and extended teams.
  • Work alongside EPC estimators and extended estimating teams.
  • Support and participate in the development of a cohesive estimating team and support strong relationships with other groups such as the EP Contractor, Construction, contract resources and other stakeholders related to the project
  • Understand all levels of estimates: Pre-Scoping, Scoping, stage 2 and FEED.
  • Must be able to work on estimates for new construction, sustaining projects and for field turnaround type projects.
  • Ensure accurate and timely estimates are delivered on the agreed upon dates.


Key Qualifications

  • 5 - 10 years of experience within the Oil & Gas Industry
  • CEC Benchmarking experience
  • Knowledgeable in Aspen-tech (k-Base) and WinEst estimating programs
  • Must be experienced in both brownfield and greenfield projects
  • knowledgeable in civil, structural, piping, equipment, electrical, I&C and EHT disciplines.

Senior Claims Consultant

The Position

Senior Claims Consultant will manage disputes and develop dispute strategies.
We are seeking an independent thinker with excellent contractual knowledge who will provide commercially viable solutions in support of DRPIC's dispute strategy position.
You will be working closely with Senior Management, drafting formal reports, assembling documentary evidence and coordinating team members in investigations and evidence gathering, leading to the successful settlement of contractor's claims.


Candidate Requirements

Minimum 10 years' international major multidisciplinary project experience in onshore Oil and Gas Industry, and possess strong analytical capabilities and able to demonstrate the following:

  • Extensive knowledge of various standard forms of contract, and contracts of a bespoke nature.
  • Specific claims and dispute resolution expertise.
  • Reasonable knowledge of planning software.
  • Providing independent dispute resolution advice and solutions for clients, owners and contractors
  • Have worked in a client or contractor environment with demonstrable experience of personally representing and drafting reports suitable for arbitration or litigation proceedings
  • Ability to interface with DRPIC's contracts management personnel and contribute to the overall project management.
  • The candidate should have handled at least 2 claims in the Oil and Gas industry in the past 5 years where each claim has a minimum value of USD 100 Million.
