POSITION: Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Commissioning Technician LOCATION: Field Based, Africa (Onshore) SCHEDULE: 28/28
Key responsibilities:
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, (in conjunction with the Maintenance Superintendent & Field Superintendent), the Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible to provide:
* Commissioning expertise on behalf of Operations & Maintenance Management within a green field and brown field project environment as the Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Commissioning Technician.
* Collaborative development of detailed Electrical & Instrumentation Commissioning Procedures and Commissioning Plans in conjunction with the Operations Services Function Group, Construction Group and Operations Group in accordance with recognised industry, ISO international and Company standards.
* Provide leading operations guidance to ensure that the pre-commissioning and commissioning and start-up of facilities is seamless and delivered in a prescribed manor in preparation for RFO (Ready for Operations).
* Facilitate a co-operative working arena within the Project Business Unit and other functional support groups.
* Remain current with knowledge and understanding of industry operating standards, practices and technology.
* Provide the opportunity for CA&A (Competency Assessment & Assurance) based training of national staff throughout the course of the commissioning process in conjunction with the Operations Maintenance & Production Departments as outlined in the company training plan.

Detailed Description:
* Experience in Emergency Response as part of an Emergency Response Team within Production Operations & Maintenance (on-shore & off-shore).
* Competent in the preparation of commissioning planning and reporting documentation
* Competent in understanding and explaining related documentation (P&ID's, Instrumentation Control Loop Diagrams, PLC Logic, SCADA Control Logic, ROC (Remote Operational Control) Logic, Electrical Single Line Diagrams and Electrical Schematics etc.)

* Competent in troubleshooting and interrogating DCS Control I/O Interfaces, VSD/VFD Motor & Generator Drives & PLC Logic, Fire & Gas ESD Function Logic & Control, Level Indication & Control, Measurement & Metering systems, Heater Control& Modulation, Pressure & Flow Control, SCADA Control Logic, ROC (Remote Operational Control) Logic, Electrical Single Line Diagrams and Electrical Schematics etc.), Power Generation & Synchronization & Power Distribution Systems.
* Track record in developing and working within matrix-type functional support organisational structure.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and in a remote fast-changing developing environment.
* Experience within oil/gas field operations and/ or project based facilities development covering well sites, gathering systems and manifolds, testing facilities, production facilities and export measuring facilities, production operations, in a multi-national commissioning operations team.
* Experience with plant upgrading and general process optimisation.

Supervises: Assigned discipline Electrical and Instrumentation commissioning technicians as required. The position also requires the 'on the job' training of junior trainee Technicians in accordance with the company Competency Assessment & Assurance training plan in conjunction with the Maintenance/ Production and Training Departments.
Duties:
* Demonstrate leadership skills in a commissioning environment
* Access to technical and operations networks in the industry
* Implementation and sharing best practice
* Sound knowledge of technical, operating, safety and legal requirements and standards relevant to the oil and gas industry
* Ability to function in a matrix structure with construction, maintenance, engineering and training departments and peers located at site, in country and possibly in an engineering office environment in London and other contractor engineering locations
* Extreme cultural sensitivity required in order to integrate in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment.

Essential Abilities:
* Ability to master new techniques unique to upstream operations
* Sound understanding of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control commissioning processes and procedures
* Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor national disciplined staff in commissioning best practice and procedures in accordance with industry Competency Assessment & Assurance training practices
* Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills at all levels
* Proven track record of commissioning and Integrity based background in the oil & gas industry

Minimum Qualifications:

Current vacancy for an experienced Electronic Engineer in a multinational analytical equipment producer. The role involves performing a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and testing of produced systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following standards, practices, and use of engineering tools as recommended by governing department.
  • Communicate with customers, third-party project representatives, and other company departments to meet assigned project requirements and schedule.
  • Electronic design and testing.
  • Develop test procedures and conduct system tests.
  • Assist in the development of design and testing strategies and requirements.
  • Develop specifications for third-party equipment and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate assigned project work with technical and administrative personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (B.S.E.) from college or university

  • 3 years' experience in new product development electronic engineering or related field, strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electronic design software Altium Designer OrCAD
  • Knowledge of PCB design
  • Ability to design and develop embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products a plus
  • Experience with assembly level and C language development including the tools used to edit, compile/assemble and debug code in an embedded environment a plus.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlations techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations using mathematical and software tool.
  • Fluent in English, ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports and documents.

Our client, a large Oil & Gas owner/operator is looking to add an Electrical Construction Coordinator to their team for a 1 year independent contract in Fort McMurray. This is a FIFO opportunity, 8 days on, 6 days off rotation. Flights and Camp provided of course.


This individual will have 10 years of experience within the electrical construction scope of work. The Coordinator will be responsible to ensure contractors carry out construction activities in a safe, timely and cost effective manner in accordance with the construction work package plans and specifications.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other team members such as coordinators, project controls, contracts, materials management, quality, field engineering, turnover and document control etc., to achieve project specific goals and requirements.
  • Participate in Readiness for Constructions Reviews as required
  • Act as liaison between the organization and construction contractor in respective areas to resolve interface and integration issues
  • Work with and follow the project change management processes focusing on accuracy of costs and resources and timely closure of FCNs, FCRs, RFIs and DCNs.
  • Identify any potential changes and rework that could impact the cost or schedule of the project.
  • Initiate field related SR's as required.
  • Review and validates Contractor daily LEMs.
  • Follow up and validation of Contractors WFP (includes quality review /signoff on IWPs).
  • Authorize day to day minor changes within their DOA limits


Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Technical Professional or Journeyman Tradesmen (E&I preferred)
  • 10 years of experience in an Oil & Gas construction environment
  • Working towards a construction management or electrical certification is an asset.
