The Mechanical Engineer would be part of the Engineering Team, which is responsible for reviewing technical work done by the contractor(s) and providing technical guidance and assurance for Major Projects. Key Accountabilities: - Routinely interact with contractor mechanical engineering project staff, providing mechanical engineering technical guidance and assurance for Major Projects with strict adherence to approved specifications, design basis documents, and integrity management and HSSE principles. - Interact with other project disciplines, pertinent project teams, and specialists to ensure interfaces are properly managed, to ensure an integrated design, and to ensure that best practices are appropriately incorporated into the design. - Review and advise on mechanical engineering deliverables from the Engineering Contractor - Work with the Contractor during specification, tender, selection, purchase, fabrication, installation and commissioning of static and rotating equipment to provide technical integrity assurance - Interface with the identified Operations team members to capture lessons learned and ensure the safety, operability, maintainability and reliability of mechanical systems. - Provide support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, and concession requests are properly resolved, and that processes for properly protecting and maintaining mechanical equipment throughout the construction process are established and executed. - Evaluate requests for deviations or exemptions to the established specifications and standards and ensure such proposed changes are properly addressed through the established MOC system. - Provide leadership in addressing mechanical design issues with appropriate considerations of safety, quality, operability, schedule, and cost - Determine risks to delivery of mechanical components and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place - Ensure engineering quality within the mechanical discipline and advise management of any personal or contactor training necessary to achieve the required quality standards. - Provide technical input to risk assessments, hazards reviews, Management of Change reviews, and project reviews - Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to piping and mechanical equipment - Provide mentoring and coaching assistance to develop junior engineers - Establish a working relationship with pertinent SPU and Project Technical Authorities and establish an understanding of issues which should be communicated to them.

MECHANICAL & PIPING ENGINEER - Roles & Responsibilities

Key Role
Mechanical and Piping Engineer to support the Lead Mechanical Engineer ensuring the safe and consistent application of Company and regulatory codes and standards and good engineering practice. Provide discipline input to the design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases of the topsides facilities. Working closely with the relevant Engineering Contractors, providing direction and ensuring delivery in accordance with the project schedule whilst maintaining technical integrity.

Roles & Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with Company engineering practices and HSSE standards.

  • Provide technical expertise on Piping Materials (Pipe, Valves, Fittings) and Mechanical (Static) Equipment.
  • Advise on use of standards, practices and design guidelines.



Work with the EPMS contractor to ensure project requirement and technical assurance are maintained.

  • Promote safety and environmental responsibility in all aspects of the equipment and systems design.
  • Suggest ways to improve efficiency and to reduce costs



Ensure that the equipment design meets the approved project specifications, industry standards and functional requirements including compliance with Company Project Principles, Engineering Technical Practices and associated guidelines.

Set direction and provide oversight of the Engineering Contractor & Equipment Vendors.

  • Set clear direction with respect to piping materials & mechanical static equipment issues and delivery of engineering in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Monitor vendor performance and initiate corrective actions / interventions as necessary.
  • Ensure alignment with Company objectives.
  • Control of change and scope growth.
  • Review & endorsement of EPMS contractor design deliverables and documents.
  • Review and endorsement of deviation and concession requests
  • Ensure Lead Mechanical Engineer is updated on key technical issues.



Key member of the Purchase Order Management Team (POMT). Manage vendor selection, package delivery and engineering compliance for static equipment for the platform topsides facilities including, but not limited to:

  • Piping Materials (Pipe, Valves, Fittings)
  • PD5500 duplex pressure vessels
  • Shell & Tube ASME VIII heat exchangers



Integration and interface management including Construction, Operations and 3rd Party consultants.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • CEng / IEng and Membership of a recognise Engineering Institution.
  • Broad engineering design experience required.
  • Major projects experience.
  • Working Knowledge of ASME B31.3, PD5500 and ASME VIII design codes.
  • Experience with selection, specification and delivery of piping materials (pipe, valves, fitting) and static mechanical vessels / systems / packaged equipment preferred.
  • Major operator experience preferred.

Downhole Hardware Engineer

I am currently hiring for a well-versed Electrical Engineer to join a large downhole tool engineering firm located in Conroe, TX. This role will be focused around the hardware side of these projects. This individual will be working on a variety projects, all related to downhole equipment and tools. This individual will need to have experience working with HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) equipment and designs. Other requirement and duties are as followed:

  • At least 5 years of prior downhole tool hardware experience
  • PCB design for downhole equipment
  • Experience with both schematic capture and board layout
  • Will need to have Altium Design software experience
  • HPHT engineering and design experience
  • Prior EM and RF experience
