Job Responsibilities

  • The role assures minimum impact on the facility operations and demonstrates good environmental stewardship in order to assist with the delivery of production targets, and maintain compliance
  • Participating in root-cause failure investigations as required to prevent recurrence and help identify trigger events as failure cause
  • Working with the Logistic Specialist (LS), Planner and Material Coordinator to assure information is correct in the work orders (e.g., the correct parts are available, and the work capacities are correct)
  • Assuring quality work order close-out with necessary attachments, pictures and long text updates for completed work
  • Preparing process equipment for maintenance by applying isolations/venting in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Comply with the Bureau Safety Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulations
  • Review, understand and utilize the offshore Safe Practices Manual to identify the hazard risk assessment level
  • Identify Sources of Energy and all hazards associated with them
  • Put controls in place to eliminate or mitigate the hazards associated with work tasks
  • Perform the duties of a Permit Issuer (PI) or a Permit Holder (PH) in compliance with Permit to Work system and according to competency level
  • Perform day-to-day management of operational priorities, taking direct instruction from the Operation Lead and Process Specialist for maintaining integrity of the facilities and production optimization
  • Monitor and adjust production and injection well flow and pressure of the separation vessels, produced water handling, crude oil-to-export, gas compression, dehydration and oil/gas distribution
  • Monitor and record key operational parameters at prescribe intervals on operator reading sheets, reporting any anomalies to the Control Room Operator (CRO) in a timely manner
  • Operating, monitoring and adjusting production, utility, safety and control systems and equipment which includes: Wells process (e.g., risers, manifolds, flowlines, umbilicals, flow assurance/chemical injection and pigging), Seawater systems (e.g., lift, injection, filtration and cooling medium), Produced water systems, Heat medium and power systems (e.g., turbine generators and Waste Heat Recovery Units), Safety systems (e.g., fire/gas detection, firefighting, lifesaving, process control and process safety), Support equipment (e.g., rotating equipment, process field devices and packaged ancillary equipment)
  • Conduct sampling for process operations, compliant with training and procedures
  • Provide operations input to projects and turnaround (TAR) preparation as required
  • Informing the OL or SRO of any maintenance activities that could potentially have a negative impact on reliability
  • Having an awareness of and challenging all maintenance and consumable costs incurred within the Operations teams' production activities
  • Maintaining full engagement and compliance with autonomous maintenance
  • Ensure the technical integrity of instrument equipment and maintenance standards
  • Comply with the responsibilities assigned as defined in the Emergency Response Plan (ERP)

Job Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in a chemical/refinery environment
  • Knowledge of offshore projects

The position will require work from Houston during early job phases before transitioning to Brownville, Texas prior to commissioning and startup.

This opportunity is for an industry leading LNG and carbon capture solutions company based in Houston, Texas.

Structure:

  • The incumbent will report to the Sr. Director of Engineering in the Operations Department
  • Direct reports will include Sr. Rotating Equipment Engineer, Sr. Electrical Engineer, Sr. Facilities Integrity Engineer, Sr. Process Controls Engineer, Sr. Reliability Engineer, Management of Change Coordinator, and an Equipment Warranty Engineer. Each of the Senior Engineers will direct teams related to their functional expertise. The overall Facilities Engineering Team will consist of 20 or more team members.

Education: B.S. or higher in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

  • 10 years of senior engineering and/or management
  • 15 years in LNG plant design and/or operations
  • 20 years of experience within the oil and gas industry
  • APCI liquefaction facility design and operations experience

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the rotating machinery, electrical, reliability, fixed equipment, and process control discipline teams as well as the Management of Change (MOC) and equipment warranty engineer to support both day-to-day plant operations and the long-term Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) effort.
  • Ensure Key Process Indicators (KPIs) for equipment and systems are monitored to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation.
  • Champion and ensure that the PHA/MOC/HAZOP and Safety Case procedures for the facility are followed.
  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process for the facility.
  • Ensure that the facility and equipment conform to industry regulatory compliance standards and recommended practices for safety, environmental, and facility design.
  • Manage facilities engineering effort for improvements, plant debottlenecking, and expansion studies, including developing functional specifications and providing oversight for Scope of Work (SOW) documents, cost estimates, Approval for Expenditures (AFEs), evaluating consultants, HAZOPs, bid development, and support for brownfield project construction tender documents.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Document Control teams to maintain facilities procedures and other documents ISO 9001 compliant.
  • Manage the Condition Monitoring and Reliability and Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programs from a facilities engineering perspective

The company's two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies.

We are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer, Process to join our team in Houston, TX and transition to Cameron, Louisiana.

This role reports to the Manager, Process Engineering, and will support the review of process design and operations engineering functions to meet the objectives of the project as delivered by the EPC and external consultants.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and progression of the Ready For Operations (RFO) schedule to transition the facility from EPC to the operations phase.
  • Serve as the project focal points for all areas of process engineering to ensure that the project is executed according to agreed budgets, schedules and design requirements.
  • Responsible for process engineering deliverables to ensure they comply with the project design and operation philosophies.
  • Prepare heat and material balance, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Responsible for system design parameters, and design or rating of equipment such as heat exchangers, vessels, towers, etc. and provide technical guidance on complex design issues.
  • Review and coordinate with licensors, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure proper and complete integration within the project plan.
  • Support the development of process simulations for complex units, updates and modifies process simulation models.
  • Support process improvement studies, performance optimization, incident investigations, economic evaluations, technical audits and safety studies.
  • Support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, concession requests are properly resolved.
  • Perform economic evaluations of equipment alternatives with emphasis on availability and reliability projections and life cycle costs.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Certifications:
    • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
    • Professional Engineer's (PE) License or equivalent CEng license is a plus
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience working in a senior engineering capacity in an industrial setting in engineering or operations
    • Oil and Gas experience is required, with preference in LNG applications, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience will be considered.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Senior Mechanical Engineer and is the technical steward for mechanical equipment, which can include rotating equipment, vessels & columns, heat exchangers, tanks, and other mechanical systems. They should have in-depth knowledge of either Rotating or Static Equipment and associated mechanical systems, including design, diagnostics, and maintenance procedures. The Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership and discipline expertise to less experienced support staff, maintenance, and production groups. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for assisting mechanical equipment maintenance; this includes supporting the Senior Mechanical Engineer and Reliability Engineer to develop and help administer inspection & preventative maintenance programs for rotating or fixed equipment. They will be an integral part of the predictive and preventative maintenance program to improve the reliability of mechanical systems, including all associated documentation. The Mechanical Engineer is expected to participate in equipment troubleshooting and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on incidents related to mechanical equipment and provide recommendations.

The incumbent should be committed and have a high sensitivity to Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) issues including Process Safety Management, and shall ensure equipment design, maintenance, and reliability programs comply with Company?s policies and procedures for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the LNG facilities.

The Mechanical Engineer is expected to have expertise in either process plant rotating equipment or fixed equipment. For example, they should be familiar with:
- Centrifugal compressors
- Gas Turbine Drivers
- Pumps, reciprocating compressors, and other rotating equipment
- Auxiliary Equipment; Air Compressors, Lubricating Oil Systems, etc.
- Rotating equipment inspection and vibration analysis.
- Bently Nevada System 1
or
- Pressure vessels, columns, heat exchangers and air-cooled heat exchangers.
- Fired Heaters
- ASME B31.8 and B31.3 piping codes

Location/Travel Information

This position is based at the Quintana Island Liquifaction Facility (LQF) with frequent visits to the nearby Pre-Treatment Facility (PTF) and other off-site locations in the Freeport area as required. Occasional travel to vendor facilities or engineering offices may be required. This position requires the incumbent to hold a valid, unexpired driver license at all times in order to perform the essential functions of the job.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

- Serves as the technical specialist for either Rotating Equipment or Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems and provides regular support to the Operations & Maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Serves as subject matter expert on engineering issues (not limited to risk engineering, system integrity and applicable specifications, philosophies and standards) and assists support groups (Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians).
- Leads design, specification and selection of new or replacement mechanical equipment, including inspection and testing. Understand and interpret relevant codes, standards and regulations.
- Assists resolution of mechanical design, reliability & warranty issues found post startup.
- Supports the Engineering Team in the execution of Capital Expenditure Projects; develops proposals for plant improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates.
- Work closely with Operations & Maintenace on inspection, optimization and troubleshooting of rotating or fixed equipment. Oversee OEM reps or service contractors.
- Assist design and deployment of maintenance programs for rotating or fixed equipment, including specifying maintenance practices, procedures, test equipment, and frequencies.
- Work closely with relevant OEMs to ensure current mechanical work practices are effective and improving reliability. Support Maintenance with communication with OEMs, including maintaining various customer service agreements.
- Implement processes to track, trend, and report performance and reliability data of rotating or fixed equipment to ensure all facilities are maintained and operated within allowable OEM tolerances and achieve high reliability and availability.
- Develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with the emphasis on monitoring and analysis for rotating or fixed equipment systems for increased efficiency and reduced downtime between scheduled PMs and planned outages.
- Uses sound engineering practices, plant standards and specifications, to ensure that documentation, for the rotating equipment or static equipment & mechanical systems, is maintained properly. Responsible for the development of documentation standards including updates to the maintenance, reliability and unit operating manuals.
- Assist Maintenance, Procurement and Reliability Engineer to determine equipment spare parts or specialty tool requirements.
- Participates in RCFA on mechanical incidents, reliability issues or systems needing repairs.
- Assists with turnaround planning and successful execution.
- Participates in the Management of Change process.
- Participates in HazOps, HazIDs, and Risk Assessments as required.
- Capture and maintain lessons learned for key equipment and systems at all facilities.
- Review and evaluate new technology and report findings for potential inclusion on existing facilities and future projects.

Position Overview:

The Director of Planning and Scheduling is responsible for overseeing the planning & scheduling processes and functions for our major capital projects. This new position will be based at our Houston office and report to the Vice President, Planning & Scheduling.

This position will collaborate with Company leadership and project management to develop and maintain project execution plans and schedules while also providing leadership and oversight of planning & scheduling professionals assigned to the project. Petroplan is actively recruiting for an LNG Marine Advisor on behalf of a US based LNG company. This Houston based, direct hire position will play a pivotal role in advancing the LNG marine engineering and operations while driving the company's exciting growth strategy.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with design, engineering and lay out of marine terminal structures and facilities based on ship/shore interface requirements (e.g., ship size, effective mooring layouts, gangway and loading arm operating envelopes, etc.)

Function: Design and Engineering of Marine Structures and Coastal Engineering - reporting to the Sr. Director, Engineering

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture, PE preferred.
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 20 years marine engineering experience in oil / gas or petrochemical industry with 10 years of LNG projects experience.
  • Highly experienced working on major capital projects in all phases of execution
  • Skilled in the application of relevant major design codes and standards (API, NFPA, etc.)
  • Experience of project execution as it pertains to coastal and marine design practices, shipping and marine operations in the LNG industry
  • Experience with sizing and lay out of marine terminal structures and facilities based on ship/shore interface requirements
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and codes applicable to LNG facilities and LNG shipping industry
  • Familiar with the regulatory bodies USACE, USCG, SIGTTO, PIANC, ISO, etc.
  • Experience with key equipment and structures involved in LNG liquefaction facilities

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the owner's representative in the area of marine and coastal engineering.
  • Ensure that marine and coastal facilities furnished by the EPC contractor meet project EPC Scope of Work and technical specifications.
  • Ensure that the engineering, procurement and execution of the marine and coastal facilities results in a safe, operable and reliable plant
  • Overall responsibility for the design, quality, technical content and integrity of marine and coastal facilities
  • Evaluate marine equipment bid packages and provide technical support for all relevant design data, vendor data and operational information
  • Evaluate requests for deviations or exemptions to the established codes, specifications and project standards
  • Review and approve technical submissions by the Contractor
  • Participate in drawing reviews, hazard reviews and plant model reviews
  • Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues
  • Provide leadership in addressing marine and coastal engineering design issues with considerations of cost, schedule, and quality
  • Provide support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, concession requests are properly resolved.
  • Review and approve commissioning guidelines for marine equipment.
  • Support Regulatory & Permitting group to ensure all marine permits meet project milestones
  • Perform engineering planning and assessments of LNG marine facilities
  • Conduct mooring and berthing evaluations with external consultants
  • Review basic design, detailed engineering and procurement specifications of marine and coastal facilities
  • Work with the EPC Contractor during specification, tender, selection, purchase, installation & commissioning of marine equipment to provide technical integrity assurance
