Visual Communication Designer


Our client is currently seeking to engage someone to fulfil a junior designer role, this would be suitable for a recent graduate or someone starting out and who has some experience.

The role will be based in Aberdeen. Some initial travel may be required to London for project familiarisation purposes, this would not be a regular expectation.

Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria):

As part of a product development team working to Agile principles, the product designer will be responsible for translating user requirements into functioning applications. Value proposition techniques will be used to develop solutions and prioritise functionality in line with the business drivers. Experience in successful user mapping journeys, sitemaps and navigation will be needed when presenting wireframes and interaction concepts. Ideas and designs will be presented for feedback within the team to developers, product managers and stakeholders so an ability to communicate well between these disciplines is imperative.

Within this role strong knowledge of user research methodologies are essential in ensuring the best and most powerful designs decisions are made. In addition the ability to carry out user testing, piloting and demonstration of the business case will be an aspect of the role.


  • Experience with design tools like Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, Invision, Zeplin
  • 0-2 years of UX/Interaction Design or similar role
  • Degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Interaction/UX Design, Service Design, Systems Oriented Design, Visual Communication, etc.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the full project lifecycle - from brief and pitch to usability and build
  • Create designs for digital use
  • Design wireframes and interaction concepts (on paper and digital)
  • Set up user interface and functional specifications that maximize usability and performance
  • Develop prototypes that fully illustrates the hierarchy and navigation
  • Test design concepts and assist with usability testing
  • Using innovative design techniques to improve user experiences
  • Ensure all digital products correspond with brand guidelines
