Petroplan have an exciting role for a Field Development Manager specialising in SURF and Energy Systems to join a major EPC client of ours based in Aberdeen working as a part of their Field Development Group.
Contract Position - 12 month contract (options to work Ltd Company / PSC)
The Field Development Group is responsible for managing and coordinating study activity throughout the early development stages including:

  • Concept Screening and Feasibility studies
  • Concept Select
  • FEED / Design Competition


As a part of the Field Development Group, the Field Development Manager will be responsible for defining and developing Oil & Gas and New Energy systems, solutions, and offerings to meet our clients' future needs.
Youll be responsible for accelerating and de-risking infrastructure delivery through architecting partnerships and integrating solutions which reduce complex interfaces and combine complimentary offerings.
Working closely with key stakeholders, the Field Development Manager will play an integral part in shaping and supporting the future direction of the businesses offering with responsibility for:

  • Developing appropriate multidisciplinary deliverables to provide the correct level of System Definition for the development phase and to meet Client expectations.
  • Deliver optimal solutions which reduce project costs and delivery uncertainty across the full Asset or System lifecycle. Coordinating input from:
    • Flow Assurance & Central Engineering Discipline Teams
    • Technology
    • IMR and Operations
  • Defining the systems and solutions of our future Low Carbon Oil & Gas and Energy Transition portfolio in conjunction with our strategy team
  • Delivery of technical and/or economic studies related to SURF, energy transition, and decarbonisation including system design, optimisation and economics
  • Demonstrate a system perspective on decarbonisation by shaping our technology innovation & development at a system level through understanding the market needs & drivers, and driving the development of business cases for new solutions
  • Working with our business development managers to engage our clients in Energy Transition areas to develop and drive forward our systems and solutions
  • Supporting the development of our digital strategy for the early lifecycle phase through the development of our Front End Planning tools
  • Building relationships with key strategic partners to help leverage the value of our combined offering


The role will require the following core capabilities:

  • Solid Field Development & Operations Knowledge at system level
  • Delivery of feasibility, conceptual studies, Pre-FEED & FEED Studies
  • Understanding of customers' Capital Value process, Capital Budgeting & Field Development value drivers
  • Effective Client communication
  • Able to identify overall solution value drivers & understand impact on solution selection
  • Ability to clearly identify and articulate value proposition within a solution
  • Able to collaborate with & support Sales, Business Development, Strategy and Technology teams
  • Proven ability to manage multi discipline teams and drive delivery of schedule & quality of deliverables
  • Proven ability to promote & develop innovative solutions and appropriate technology to field development proposals
  • All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive culture


PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must have proven SURF Field Development & Operations Experience working to a similar level.
  • Demonstrate a background in client or consultant roles supporting early stage field development and / or operations support activity. Some knowledge or experience of contractor / service company environments is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of Energy Transition solutions including CCUS, Hydrogen and Renewables
  • Candidate should be degree qualified in relevant discipline related to the subsea oilfield environment.
  • Candidates should show a commitment to their own Continuing Professional Development

Qualifications/Experience
Must have:

  • Tax and/or Accounting professional with extensive tax experience
  • UK tax technical expertise

  • Tax accounting and group reporting
  • Overseas tax reporting/compliance and working with external tax advisers


Nice to have:

Job Description

  • Commercial and contractual aspects of tendering, negotiating, awarding and managing all contracts and major purchase orders. Interface with Department Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers to develop scopes
  • Maintaining effective compliance to business management system in accordance with Company procedures and systems including risk and opportunity sensitivities
  • Arranging all project bonds, guarantees and insurances as required
  • Provide commercial and contractual advice to Department Managers and Project
  • Management Teams (PMT)
  • Liaison with Project Managers and Project Engineers leading to negotiation and execution of all Variation Orders (VO) with contractors
  • Highlighting any major commercial or contractual risks or issues to the relevant Managers and work with them to ensure optimum solution
  • Project close-out activities - ensuring signature of Acceptance, performance feedbacks and satisfactory monitoring of bonds / warranty etc.
  • Assist Contracts Team Lead in identifying and implementing business improvements
  • Review and update, on a weekly basis, Procurement Register
  • Coordination and delivery of department initiatives as required e.g. systems and procedures, lessons learned (capture and feedback)

  • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of planning engineering, including an understanding of current good engineering/ fabrication practice.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present detailed planning information (Gantt charts, histograms, PERT charts) for the project.
  • Independently apply advanced scheduling and planning techniques and analysis within a project environment.
  • Provide planning support as required by the Project Services Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Input planning data: activities, tasks, logic, resources, key dates, progress etc.
  • Analyse planning data and modifications as required to achieve imposed targets through time-based analysis and/or resource limited based scheduling.
  • Manage computer output of programmes in graphic/printed form for barcharts, histograms, networks and 'S' curves at all levels from detail to management /presentation.
  • Maintain progress data on live programs and produce progress reports.
  • Set up of progress monitoring and forecasting systems to suit Client requirements.
  • Maintain Primavera and Microsoft Project computer planning systems.
  • Ensure planning & progress measurement requirements, as stipulated by Contract (and/or by Project Management) are met.
  • Comply with company planning procedures or develop project-specific procedures if required by project.
  • In consultation with relevant parties, support development of overall Project Schedule as an accurate model of all required project timescales, taking account of resource requirements.
  • As frequently as required, provide accurate progress measurement updates and compare with the plan. Highlight deviations from Baseline Schedule and investigate alternatives for minimum impact on project targets.
  • Ensure all changes, and their impact, are reflected in the Baseline Schedule progress updates. Re-baseline the schedule if circumstances dictate that the original no longer reflects the outstanding scope of work. Subject to contractual conditions.


Qualifications:

  • Education equal to a bachelor's or master's degree in planning engineering or administrative/financial discipline. Long and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Relevant planning experience.
  • Ability to lead and function within a planning team and across multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time accordingly.
  • Manage changes within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project.
