Role Outline:
Senior Operations Geologist to support a variety of eastern hemisphere activities. The Operations Geologist must demonstrate visible leadership in HSSE, effective communication skills including technical and leadership coaching across the Wells and subsurface teams, including rig personnel. The role is part of an existing integrated team of geoscientists and engineers in the Subsurface organization whose core activities include exploration, appraisal and development well planning and delivery, as well as specialist PPFG and Geohazards support. The Operations Geologist must ensure that the execution of wells meets standards and delivers in an integrated, agile manner with multiple disciplines across Functions. The role includes subsurface well execution (operational casing point & TD decisions, data acquisition plans, tracking & analysing subsurface NPT), liaising with project operations geologist SPAs as well as the RCC PPD and drilling engineering personnel to help deliver safe and efficient wells. The role includes the expectation to coach and develop staff.
Key Criteria:

  • University Degree in Geology or related subject, with 15 years of relevant industry experience, most of which should have been gained in a geological operations environment.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and personal and process safety.
  • Essential industry experience in well planning and operations geology, well-site geology, petrophysical log interpretation
  • Experience in drilling high pressure wells (HPHT) with narrow PP to FG window
  • Detailed understanding of mud logging, LWD/MWD, wireline and coring operations
  • Knowledge and ability to use / integrate pore pressure monitoring techniques
  • Excellent communication skills, influencing skills, strong team player, open and transparent communicator across diverse multidiscipline teams and partners to create integrated products that add value to the business.
  • Proactive work ethic - does things before being asked to or forced to by events.
  • Ability to identify problems and assimilate complex data to resolve problems, anticipate future situations, and plans ahead.
  • Good project management and organizational skills with attention to detail. Must work calmly under pressure and adapt efficiently to fast-paced operations.
  • Skilled in the application of relevant geological software.

Qualifications/Experience
Must have:

  • Tax and/or Accounting professional with extensive tax experience
  • UK tax technical expertise
  • UK corporation tax return preparation and submission
  • Tax accounting and group reporting
  • Overseas tax reporting/compliance and working with external tax advisers


Nice to have:

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, Alphatax/HFM, Excel skills, Netherlands tax experience

Job Description

  • Commercial and contractual aspects of tendering, negotiating, awarding and managing all contracts and major purchase orders. Interface with Department Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers to develop scopes
  • Maintaining effective compliance to business management system in accordance with Company procedures and systems including risk and opportunity sensitivities
  • Arranging all project bonds, guarantees and insurances as required

  • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of planning engineering, including an understanding of current good engineering/ fabrication practice.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present detailed planning information (Gantt charts, histograms, PERT charts) for the project.
  • Independently apply advanced scheduling and planning techniques and analysis within a project environment.
  • Provide planning support as required by the Project Services Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Input planning data: activities, tasks, logic, resources, key dates, progress etc.
  • Analyse planning data and modifications as required to achieve imposed targets through time-based analysis and/or resource limited based scheduling.
  • Manage computer output of programmes in graphic/printed form for barcharts, histograms, networks and 'S' curves at all levels from detail to management /presentation.
  • Maintain progress data on live programs and produce progress reports.
  • Set up of progress monitoring and forecasting systems to suit Client requirements.
  • Maintain Primavera and Microsoft Project computer planning systems.
  • Ensure planning & progress measurement requirements, as stipulated by Contract (and/or by Project Management) are met.
  • Comply with company planning procedures or develop project-specific procedures if required by project.
  • In consultation with relevant parties, support development of overall Project Schedule as an accurate model of all required project timescales, taking account of resource requirements.
  • As frequently as required, provide accurate progress measurement updates and compare with the plan. Highlight deviations from Baseline Schedule and investigate alternatives for minimum impact on project targets.
  • Ensure all changes, and their impact, are reflected in the Baseline Schedule progress updates. Re-baseline the schedule if circumstances dictate that the original no longer reflects the outstanding scope of work. Subject to contractual conditions.


Qualifications:

  • Education equal to a bachelor's or master's degree in planning engineering or administrative/financial discipline. Long and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Relevant planning experience.
  • Ability to lead and function within a planning team and across multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time accordingly.
  • Manage changes within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project.
