We are currently supporting a global leader in the offshore energy industry to find a Senior Tendering Engineer.
This is a permanent staff vacancy to be based in their Aberdeen offices and an exciting opportunity to join an EPC company that is involved in in some of the largest projects in the industry. This is as a direct result of their excellent tendering team which you know have the opportunity to join.

Main accountabilities:

  • Directly contribute to securing contracts and new business opportunities by effective definition and tender management of commercial obligations and risk exposure ensuring a suitable risk / reward profile is agreed with Client.
  • Liaise with Legal & Contracts to ensure contractual terms and conditions are prepared and collated as part of tender submission
  • Responsible for all aspects of the preparation and presentation of estimates, including checking and peer review of other's estimates.
  • Generate cashflow schedule, milestone payment and contract cancellation schedules.
  • Develop and maintain databases for cost benchmarking/norms/tools including formal feedback loops with Operations and Commercial Leads. Ensure all responsibilities are executed in strict compliance with relevant company policies, processes and procedures and in accordance with company values.
  • Ensure appropriate and relevant estimating, cost and commercial support is provided to the Tendering / Project Manager throughout the tendering phase.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Client, Subcontractors and Suppliers throughout the tendering phase.
  • Manage commercial risks on tenders to ensure risks are identified early and either eliminated or managed appropriately by the Tendering / Project Manager during the preparation and clarification phases of the tender process.
  • Support Tendering / Project Manager in developing and define the cost base, contingency and risk provision for the technical solution.
  • Ensure active management of all Tender Clarifications on allocated tender with respect to Client, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
  • Serves as role model for Tendering Engineers and Graduates in execution of the role and behaviours


Job Scope (budget, management, specific criteria):

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering all commercial aspects of allocated Client tenders and Budget Proposals including all associated subcontracts and supplier proposals in accordance with company procedures, processes and systems.
  • Prepare and manage tender plan in conjunction with allocated Tender / Project Manager to ensure all defined deliverables are managed within agreed timeframes,
  • Ensure all key progress and approvals meeting are held and minuted with appropriate attendees throughout the tender process.
  • Prepare all internal tender process approval documents throughout the tendering phases and ensure approvals are made in a timely manner and in accordance with approved group policies and procedures.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimate of defined technical solution(s) including contingency and risk provisions in conjunction with Tender / Project Manager. Complete Peer Reviews of cost estimates dependent on ITT ranking
  • Ensure appropriate tax, currencies hedging and cashflow requirements are defined and included for with the cost estimate and/or qualifications, with necessary finance approvals.
  • Maintain up to date and comprehensive Clarification Registers for Client and subcontractors.
  • Perform appropriate commercial reviews including interface with Legal and Contracts for contractual reviews as required.
  • Co-ordination and delivery of department initiatives and objectives as required by Tendering Manager or Commercial Director.
  • Manage internal reporting of status on allocated commercial and contractual issues for allocated tenders in accordance with company procedures, processes and systems
  • Support the implementation and any ongoing administration of Tender Estimation Software Packages and other cost systems and the training of others in their use
  • Other appropriate tasks as may be directed by the Tendering Manager from time to time,
  • May be required to support the creation and present internally/externally material relating to strategic initiative subject.


Client Responsibilities

  • Agree points of contact with Client on tender submission requirements and clarifications to ensure consistent communications plan is established and maintained and accurate formal communication log is administered by Tender Coordinator
  • Prepare commercial deliverables and liaise with Legal and Contracts for contractual deliverables for inclusion in Client tender submissions.
  • Provision of Commercial representation at Client tender clarification meetings etc, as required.


Subcontract Management Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the procurement plan for the tender and ensure subcontractors and suppliers are managed using the relevant company systems and tools throughout the tendering phase.
  • Propose procurement strategies to reduce costs and optimise schedules where required in conjunction with Global Supply chain function.
  • Ensure all third-party costs are fully identified, confirmed and included in the cost estimate.
  • Participate in all relevant subcontractor and supplier meetings where agenda relates to commercial and contractual matters, including cost, schedule to be aware of all project activities which may affect the contractual position and exposure to risks.
  • Resolve contractual positions with subcontractors and suppliers where required.


Post Contract Award Responsibilities (on secured awards)

  • Ensure formal handover in accordance with procedure of all relevant commercial and contractual documents to Operations, project controls and execution Project Manager following Client award of contract.
  • Ensure all agreed deviations from Group contractual and financial principles are fully signed as soon as practical and not later than prior to signature of Client contract.
  • Ensure any changes to the agreed As-Won position are agreed by management and communicated to the Project Manager and included in the final signed contract and internal handover.
  • Ensure Client contract document is duly executed and distributed.

Typical background and experience required:

Must have:

  • High standard of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and direction.
  • Extensive experience in a commercial environment performing a similar role which demonstrates exposure to the key commercial concepts in relation to commercial risk management with specific emphasis on tendering activities.
  • Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions and proven ability to negotiate same with Clients and Suppliers.
  • Technical and practical understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and installation methods and techniques as applicable to the oil/gas/renewables industry.
  • Able to act as 'technical expert' within the Commercial function.
  • Ability to provide leadership as well as mentor and develop junior colleagues.
  • Previous and demonstrable repeat experience in a relevant position as a Tendering Engineer / Estimator / Contracts Engineer
  • Demonstrable high level of competence in the discharge of such commercial and contractual duties.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet stringent deadlines, often necessitating additional hours being worked
  • Able to work within and contribute in a motivated and professional environment.
  • Self-motivated and persistent.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in offshore / subsea related industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of Subsea EPCI construction projects and associated subsea hardware
  • Professional or undergraduate degree level qualification in Commercial, Business Administration / Management, Purchasing or Legal discipline

  • A comprehensive understanding of our competitor strategies, capabilities, assets, status and availability regularly monitoring and providing updates to internal stakeholders as required
  • Liaise regularly with internal stakeholders to obtain an understanding of project performance for key accounts and provide feedback on client relationship
  • Liaise regularly with Global Account Directors to ensure that regional key account information is represented and incorporated into corporate Global Account Plans
  • Travel as required to support business. Typically short durations.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the DP/Electrical Technical Authority, the DP/Electrical Engineer will support the Vessel Superintendents and Fleet Technical & Engineering leads in technical matters related to DP and Electrical systems as part of the embedded technical support team for the company Fleet of vessels. They will assist with solutions/responses to vessels incidents; preparations and support at dockings, maintenance stops and modifications; assist with day-to-day management of vessel maintenance.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting Vessel Superintendents to ensure that DP, Automation, Electrical/Electronic systems are maintained to the required standard.
  • Preparation of feasibility studies, specifications, design, assistance for purchasing for DP and electrical equipment.
  • Assist Vessel Superintendents with investigation and reporting of DP incidents to enable a safe return to work.
  • FMEA review, update and acceptance, together with proving trials.
  • Annual DP trials, documentation and acceptance.
  • Make ad hoc visits to vessels to inspect condition and maintenance carried out on the DP and electrical equipment.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Technical Authority.

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Educated to degree/HNC level within an electrical discipline.
  • Demonstratable and detailed technical knowledge of Electrical engineering, Power Generation, PMS, VMS engine room alarm systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of Dynamic Positioning, DP FMEA, DP trials.

Position Overview:

  • The Proposal Manager will, with the Commercial team, contribute towards the planning, execution, and delivery of in-house tenders, as part of a global support function and in accordance with the tender process.

Vessel Superintendent

  • Perform the PMR of the Captain and Chief Engineer, assisting with development aims as required

Experience/Qualifications

  • Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC, with time in rank preferred
  • Offshore experience / onshore management of marine vessels
  • In depth knowledge of ship's capability and operating limits
  • In depth knowledge of IMO, class & flag and ISM requirements
  • Knowledge of engineering and operations of offshore construction
  • Strong leadership, managerial and organisational skills

We are currently supporting a market-leading energy industry consultancy in their search for a Cost Engineer to join them on a staff basis in their Aberdeen office.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an international company that is involved in exciting projects across the hydrocarbon, renewables and alternative energy sectors.

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible, on projects for monitoring costs during project delivery and the collation of cost information for the administration of key performance indicators. Also responsible for estimating costs for project modifications including engineering, construction and fabrication.

REPORTING LINES AND INTERACTIONS:
Hierarchically reports to: Project Controls Manager
Operationally reports to: Project Manager

TYPICAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must have:

  • Graduate engineer or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of engineering design service contracts.
  • Knowledge of both greenfield and brownfield estimating methodology.
  • Minimum 5 years, in both greenfield and brownfield industrial or engineering projects, with at least 2 years in the oil and gas sector.
  • Familiar with the administration of Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Computer proficiency - Excel essential


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare time-writing codes for new projects once approvals have been granted.
Monitor non-billable time, within the project team, to ensure this is kept within the agreed overhead charge. Provide up to date status of costs for each project including costs incurred and costs liable.
Liaise with corporate team for timely billing of man-hour costs. Prepare cost estimates for project change orders.
Collate cost norms and build benchmark data based on previously executed projects.

We are looking for a fantastic Marine Technical Assistant to join our Offshore Resources team at our Westhill, Aberdeenshire office on a full time, staff basis.

Reporting to the Marine Systems Technical Authority, the Marine Technical Assistant is part of the Technical & Engineering team responsible for the administration and tracking of rotating critical spares within the fleet and general support within the company planned maintenance system across the fleet(s).

The role will act as a technical administrator for all company assets, specifically focused on maintenance, inventory and technical documentation within the management system. The job holder will have a good knowledge of Ship systems, maintenance, inventory, and administration for the management of sea going assets.

What will you be doing?

  • Establish administration work flows and acutely manage rotational spares and equipment within the PMS. Ensuring locations are accurate and up to date. Namely, but not limited to; Thrusters, Turbo Chargers, ROV and Dive Umbilicals
  • Support both technical personnel onboard the vessels and the onshore Equipment Managers/Superintendents as required
  • Work with the company PMS applications to collate equipment information, build an equipment structure and record equipment maintenance plans
  • Contribute to the development of PMS implementation procedures, including philosophy, hierarchy and content
  • Contribute to ensuring that PMS documentation accurately reflects the planned maintenance procedures in use both onboard the vessels and in the office
  • Assist in the review of outstanding failure reports, with root causes and trends, and sharing fleet improvements from incidents and lessons learned
  • Oversee technical library and team worksite within Share point. Providing significant administration support in updating internal documentation, OEM bulletins and technical memorandum
  • Support report generation from TM Master and associated dashboards. Particular to KPI's, Failure reports and overdue maintenance
  • Participation in QA audits both internal and external
  • Promote planned maintenance across the fleet and encourage users to engage with the systems/procedures in place

What experience would we like you to have?

  • A graduate or junior engineer in engineering/technical studies
  • Holds a good understanding and working knowledge of maintenance and spares inventory
  • A bias related to ship systems, technical management, and planned maintenance systems. (Ideally TM Master)
  • Articulate and able to communicate at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills with a collaborative and explorative nature
  • Self-starter with the ability to 'think out of the box' and radicalise improvement opportunities
  • Worked previously or presently working within a vessel operator's technical department, or looking to move to ashore
  • Experience of the main Microsoft software packages
  • Some database experience in the offshore or maritime industries
