Job Title: Marine Systems Engineer (Preferably Mechanical Bias) - Candidates must have rights to work in UK without the need of company visa/permit sponsorship.

Location: UK - Home working optional with circa 20/25% of time to be spent offshore, office locations available in London / Aberdeen

Salary/Benefits:

  • This position is open to candidates with varying levels of experience so the basic salary will vary.

  • Offshore uplift dependent on grade but circa £150 per day offshore through the week and £500 per day offshore at weekends

  • Pension contributions 5% employee 9% employer

  • 26 days annual leave bank holidays, additional annual leave can be agreed if extensive overtime is worked

This role is for a marine systems engineer to perform a variety of tasks, as listed below, on marine systems auxiliaries (cooling systems, fuel, lubrication, compressed air, ventilation & HVAC, valves), ballast and bilge systems, cranes, pipelay and cablelay equipment:

  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Create proving trials programs to support the desktop FMEA
  • Create annual trials programs for the ongoing verification and validation of the FMEA
  • Attend onboard vessels to witness proving and annual trials
  • General Marine consultancy
  • Perform risk based critical analysis on mission specific equipment with regards to design, operational interface, capability and general suitability for intended operations.
  • Assurance audits and inspections of marine systems

We are looking for an experienced marine engineer to further enhance our marine operations team providing support across all aspects of our assurance and surveying services.

We would expect all applicants to have the following:

  • Experience of performing FMEAs on marine systems
  • Knowledge and experience of working with IMCA, IMO, MTS and OCIMF codes and guidelines
  • Knowledge of and experience with dynamic positioning systems
  • Current offshore medical and survival certificate
  • Good communication skills at all levels of an organisation, both internally and externally
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office suite as a minimum)
  • Flexibility in working conditions including a willingness to travel offshore and overseas often adhoc or at very short notice
  • Motivation to learn and grow their professional career
  • Good report writing and technical authoring skills

In addition, the following attributes would be welcome although not essential:

  • An Engineering Degree at least Bachelors level
  • Sea going experience as Chief Engineer, ETO or similar
  • DP Maintenance Certificate
  • Achieved or working towards IMCA DP Practitioner Accreditation Scheme
  • Understanding of computer applications (Oracle/SAP/I Inspect, etc.)
  • Good existing network within the UK Maritime and Energy market
  • Good existing network within the offshore industry professional bodies
  • Member or Chartership with an appropriate engineering institute and/or industry bodies/forums/societies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of the London O&G business, delivering projects to cost and schedule, whilst providing high quality services in all aspects from safety, engineering, to procurement and sub-contracts.
  • Accountable for the issue of technical and commercial bid proposals, that are achievable, and ensure project delivery and implementation plans are in place that can realistically undertake the work successfully upon award. Also lead where appropriate securing and negotiating new work scope opportunities
  • Accountable for interpreting new contracts and workscope requirements, to ensure project deliverables and the right project organisation is adequately staffed, prepared, and all ancillary services are secured, whilst ensuring project risks are successfully identified with appropriate mitigation measures in place at the commencement of each project.
  • Represent the business externally and be responsible for communication with key clients at senior management level and establish long term client relationships.
  • Ensure rigorous processes and procedures are in-place, maintained, improved, and fully utilised to ensure the highest qualities and efficiencies are implemented and improved upon in a sustainable way for the organisation.   • Significant experience and understanding of pedestal crane systems, including PLC systems, hydraulics, hoist winches, pumps, motors, hoist ropes, diesel engines, instrumentation and control/safety systems
  • Significant relevant experience and proven track record in mechanical handling maintenance activities associated with major offshore operating production facilities
  • Relevant experience of offshore pedestal crane operations.
  • Significant relevant knowledge of pedestal crane and lifting national and international legislation, regulations, standards and practices
  • Relevant experience of lifting equipment purchase, testing, inspection and maintenance.
  • Relevant understanding of performance standards and barrier health

Our client, an independent Oil and Gas company is looking for a high calibre Development Manager to join the team. The role would be focusing the company's key deep water asset in West Africa.

  • Improving subsurface understanding of the various components of the asset, clearly demonstrating the risk vs the reward for the components and bringing opportunities through to approvals.
  • Working closely with the Drilling and Completions department to ensure that the best opportunities are drilled as soon as practicable, and that key appraisal data is acquired.
  • Leading the end year Reserves Audit for the asset. This should be planned so that future developments are timed to maximise end year reserves booking.
  • Working with the in-country production team to ensure consistency of understanding and near-term production forecasting, as well as protecting reservoir management when challenged by short term production demands.
  • Leading the subsurface team and challenge the team to produce excellent quality work in tight timeframes with a lean team.
  • As a senior member of the subsurface community, you will provide guidance and help to more junior members across the company.


Skills

Ideally you will have a MSc. level or equivalent in a related subject, with experience of leading a subsurface team for a large, operated offshore oilfield. You will be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • Experience of coordinating projects across departments in an Area Development Manager, or Asset Manager type role preferred.
  • Subsurface background required.
  • Experience of all field maturities - from exploration through to production.
  • Experience of leading projects through stage gates
  • Good understanding of Reserves theory (PRMS)
  • Experience of deepwater subsea projects preferred.
