Senior Compensation Advisor
Location: Calgary

Our client is currently looking for a Senior Compensation Advisor to join their team. Reporting to the Sr Manager, Compensation & Global Mobility, this individual will participate in the design, development, and communication of compensation programs for the Canadian and global businesses.

Specific responsibilities will include:
*Facilitate the design, implementation, and administration of our global compensation philosophy and strategy, programs, policies, and procedures
*Provide ongoing consultation and subject-matter expertise to HR Business Partners on compensation-related policies, programs, practices and administration
*Participation in domestic and global market surveys, including analysis, reporting and program recommendations.
*Participate in the company-wide annual compensation review including the development of the compensation review planning calendar, training material, liaising with HRIS on technical issues, providing troubleshooting support and advice to HR Business Partners throughout the planning cycle, testing planned system/tool enhancements and identifying system/process improvements for future years.
*Represent. in industry peer groups and continually monitor external competitive practices, policy changes, and benchmarks through independent research and networking with peers.
*Lead specific compensation projects and initiatives as required. These will vary in size, scope and duration and may be individual or team based.
*Utilizing Workday, SAP, Shareworks and other sources of information to extract, analyze and report on internal compensation trends, as well as pursue opportunities for system/process improvements.
*Development of communication materials to enhance the awareness and understanding of compensation initiatives with HR Business Partners, line leaders and employees.
*Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
*Post secondary degree in Business.
*Minimum of 8 years direct compensation experience.
*Experience in interpretation and statistical analysis of market data.
*Minimum 8 years experience in HR demonstrating the ability to deal with confidential material in a manner demonstrating sound judgment.
*Highly skilled with Excel and other MS Office programs.
*Experience with Workday, HR SAP, SuccessFactors
*Experience with Shareworks
*High level of discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information.
*Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
*Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
*Organized, self starter, attention to detail, can work independently in a time sensitive environment.
*Ability to plan, schedule and deliver both long and short-term projects with consideration to stakeholders and adherence to strict deadlines.

*Minimum of 3 years oil and gas experience

This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timely reporting of the company's corporate activities including company-wide G&A analysis and reporting. This includes understanding a consolidated view of both managed and landed G&A costs and company allocations. The successful candidate will work closely with the company's corporate stakeholders to provide meaningful monthly spend analysis and assist with accounting and forecast activities. Other responsibilities include preparation of the monthly cost allocations report and collecting and updating G&A allocation rates on a quarterly basis.

Deliverables:

This role requires working primarily in planning & international function and provide various tax support to projects and compliance managed by planning team. You are a self-starter with high attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet internal and external deadlines.
*Gather, organize, and prepare appropriate documentation to support tax planning initiatives
*Prepare and review financial models to various business and tax planning initiatives
*Manage the implementation of tax plans which includes coordination with the business, tax reporting, financial reporting and other functions.
*Prepare or review Canadian FAPI, foreign affiliate surplus calculations
*Prepare or review Canadian international information reporting (e.g., Form T106s, T1134s, T1135s, etc.)
*Assist in the resolution of CRA audits through the preparation of response to CRA queries
*Work with other tax functions in tax department and various business units as required
*Respond to daily ad hoc internal requests

Competencies
*Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Corporate Taxprep and partnership return software
*Demonstrate working knowledge with SAP (running GL details, financial information, etc.)
*Ability to work independently or in a teamwork environment
*Demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills
*Demonstrate a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and inter-person skills
*Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively work in a deadline-driven environment and handle a diverse workload

Qualification
A Bachelors' degree in finance or accounting
Completion of a recognized accounting designation
Completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Courses level I and II, with level III preferable
Experience with Canadian surplus calculations and foreign affiliate rules would be an asset
Minimum 8 years of corporate income tax work experience
Oil and gas industry experience is desirable
