Operator Assistant

Assists in rigging up and down of any service line equipment. Assists in assembly and preparation of equipment for installation and service. Assists in the running of a job and in the clean up, repair, and preparation for the next job. Promotes and takes an active part in the Quality Improvement Process. Ensures compliance with HSE regulations and guidelines. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Works under direct supervision with no experience required. This is the entry level position into the service operator job family.

On an offshore rig, under supervision of the Mudlogging Engineer, the Sample Cather gathers, assembles, and assures timely delivery of sets of cuttings samples as per customer requirements. Moderate physical activity is required to collect and process samples. Samples must be washed, dried, stored in prescribed containers and properly labelled. Candidates must be Newfoundland residents and have all training required for travel offshore as per CAPP requirements (refer below) The following valid safety courses are required before onboarding the sample catchers: CAPP Medical CAPP Respirator Fit test BST(or BST-R)/HUEBA Flight Suit fitting H2S WHMIS Must be supplied with all PPE: Coveralls - orange colour Hard hat - orange colour Safety boots (higher than ankle) Safety glasses Impact gloves The work is also not going to be steady since the drilling activity will be up and down, there may be some breaks of a few weeks up to a couple months in the drilling activity where we would not be using the sample catchers, but we would like to have the same people at our disposal/on call when the drilling stats up again. we only pay for the sample catchers for days on the rig.
