Chief Mate

Upcoming Contract and Permanent vacancies in St. John's.
Candidates sought for a well-established Marine Company with a diverse fleet of Harbour, Coastal/Deep Sea Tugs, as well as, Offshore Supply Vessels with locations across the Canadian eastern seaboard.

The Position

We're looking for an established Chief Mate that has direct experience in the offshore industry specifically with marine transportation needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • The crew's welfare and training in areas such as safety, firefighting.
  • Responsible for the cargo operation in ports including
    • Loading
    • Unloading
    • Cargo Planning
  • Organisation and supervision of the Deck department
  • Ship maintenance and appearance
  • Cargo handling and stowage
  • Assistance to the Environmental Officer
  • Safety equipment and fire-fighting maintenance
  • Ship inspection
  • Maintain Ship Security Plans
  • Ship integrity
  • Maintenance of all PPE issues
  • Maintain stability records
  • Maintenance of cargo systems
  • Support junior officer training

Requirements:

  • Marine Emergency Duties (and MED refresher training)
  • Transport Canada Marine Medical
  • H2S Alive
  • Marine First Aid and CPR
  • WHMIS (considered an asset)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (TDG) (considered an asset)
  • Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
  • Experience in the Offshore Industry
