  1. Site Operations Engineer to join their Lloydminster Operations Process Engineering team.
    Work schedule will be 40 hours a week, however as there is travel required at least two days a week and due to the nature of the role, additional hours may be required as needed and directed by the workload and team needs.
    The term of this role is 6 months with a possibility of extension, with an ultimate progression into a full-time employee role for the right individual.
    The Site Operations Engineer will:
    * Provide field level process engineering support to Operations and other stakeholders within Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil.
    * Apply engineering theory and problem-solving skills to resolve safety/environmental/integrity concerns, optimize facility performance, and scope/identify opportunities that reduce OPEX or add business value.

    The roles and responsibilities of this Site Operations Engineer will be:
    * Support and collaborate with Operations to:
    o Resolve operational process / equipment issues (analyze and troubleshoot process issues, recommend ideas and solutions).
    o Verify process changes, validate process function, and perform equipment sizing / rating by creating and updating process simulations models and/or completing engineering calculations / analysis.
    o Identify facility bottlenecks, process improvements, and OPEX reduction opportunities; scope and frame to resolve.
    o Support safety, environmental, and integrity concerns; scope and frame to resolve.
    o Complete or support work intake for process engineering investigations and process, management of change requests.
    o Complete process release calculations to support process safety event incident investigations.
    * Provide process engineering representation and support for Operational risk assessments, Project / MOC PHA, revalidation HAZOPs, and other related evaluations (eg. Alarm , Rationalization).
    * Define, implement, monitor, and sustain facility Safe Operating Limits.
    * Support integrated production planning by identifying and managing facility constraints.
    * Support facility outages by quantifying outage production impacts, supporting operational risk assessments, completing process engineering calculations / modelling, and supporting found work resolution.
    * Complete performance monitoring on facility process and equipment; collaborate to drive business performance and operational efficiency.
    * Execute process engineering investigations and small MOCs (ex. set-points changes, chemical changes).
    * Interface with Facilities Engineering to support process engineering requirements for front end scoping and execution of engineering investigations and MOCs (process engineering support for facility changes).
    * Coordinate process trials (PTRs) (eg. chemical trials, process optimization).
    * Interface with capital project teams as needed, support up front scoping and integration/consideration of operating conditions.
    * Support the Enhanced Production Audit Program (annual measurement schematic review, engineering estimates, monthly or quarterly gas sample verification, audits).
    * Complete data gathering / trending to support business needs.
    * Complete and support engineering work in alignment with the Client's professional practice management plan.
    * Support the continuous improvement of business processes and documentation.

    This Site Operations Engineer will possess:
    * Solid understanding of upstream process and equipment.
    * Solid understanding of engineering principles and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
    * Ability to work closely with operations, maintenance, and other engineering teams to achieve goals.
    * Able to manage and prioritize competing demands in a fast paced, operational front-line work environment.
    * Able to listen effectively and understand different points of view.
    * Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

    Qualification for this role will be:
    * Must be registered with APEGA / APEGS as a P. Eng.
    * Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical Engineering degree
    * 10 years of industry experience ideally working with both Owner/Operators and within an EPC/EPCM organization
    * Proficient with process simulation tools (HYSYS, Unisim)
    * Previous experience in an operational, process engineering role is an asset
    * Previous process engineering design experience is an asset
    * Driver's license is required

What You Will Do:

Collaborate and guide with Engineering team members and Plant Managers to ensure compliance of applicable assets.

Lead all aspects of research and analysis of various compliance obligations to develop annual priorities that include tasks such as gaps analysis, potential self-reports, Regional Entity or ISO self-certification, implementation of new standards and changes to existing requirements.

Improve knowledge and expertise in the field of BES reliability compliance. Act as the primary in-house compliance specialist and a single point of contact for technical issues on reliability compliance activities.

Work with Regional Entities, Regulators and/or RTOs to ensure that all compliance related data or information requests are satisfied.

Apply and improve your technical expertise to develop electrical test plans and perform engineering assessment to demonstrate compliance with various reliability standards and requirements.

Liaise with various jurisdictions such as WECC, SERC, TRE, NPCC, IESO and AESO.

Accurately develop and present status reports and key performance indicators to communicate the state of compliance to senior management.

Who You Are:
You possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Preferred specialization: Electrical) or equivalent combination of experience and education

7 years of relevant work experience in compliance engineer.

Strong compliance and regulatory background to perform engineering assessment in-house.

Knowledge and understanding of Reliability Compliance framework in the United States and Canada.

Experience in managing, evaluating and performing compliance with Reliability Standards and Market Rules.

Experience leading NERC or Regional Entity Reliability Standards audit.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

Project

Quality Engineer to champion its quality management program during the pre-construction and construction phases of the project. The successful candidate reports directly to Quality Manager and will play a part in supporting the company's project team through the construction phase of the project.
This position will require the individual to function with minimal supervision and be proactive in ensuring quality in all spheres. The position will require close interaction with the company's Project Management, Engineering, Procurement and Construction execution teams to ensure successful execution of the Company's Quality Management program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the quality focal point for fabrication and construction site activities.
  • Manage and guide the QA/QC activities during the execution of pre-construction and construction work in a manner that achieves the project quality requirements within the Quality Standards, Cost, and Schedule targets set by the Company.
  • Ensure that all actions, works, and services undertaken by Contractors and subcontractors are in accordance with the respective Contractual Agreement.
  • Assess construction / installation work process and work product verification, (e.g. perform site QC surveillance, participate in Mechanical Completion process, and monitor specification deviations).
  • Prepare site related project quality system management documentation
  • Identify trends, assist and work with Contractor to minimize nonconformance situation.
  • Implement the Execution Assurance program at site in accordance with the project specifications and procedures
  • Monitor quality control performance, coordinate project quality metrics and reporting, and provide quality metrics as requested by Quality Manager
  • Monitor independently the construction work to ensure job compliance in accordance with project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance to field inspection personnel as required
  • Review quality inspection personnel qualifications and training requirements
  • Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the project quality management system, propose recommendations and implement improvements
  • Conduct Quality surveillance audits during the pre-construction and construction execution phases with timely management reporting.
  • Ensure that QA/QC culture is visible across all projects at all levels.
  • Provide inputs to the collection of Lessons Learned for the project.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent with 10 years' experience in a quality management position on capital construction projects in the oil/gas industry.

Internal

  • Demonstrated experience in establishing project quality systems that meets the requirements of ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in managing large-scale capital projects including early civil works by performing regular audits and critical inspections as and when required.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops to lead the project team through development of project quality procedures and programs.
  • Has clearly demonstrated strong Quality Assurance competence.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment in both national and international team environments
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
  • Expertise in Welding, NDT systems and ISO auditing is preferred.
  • Have good, computer and communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Squamish Area resident preferred or live locally within 30 minutes-1hr drive is preferred.

  • Must be comfortable with Marine type environment as site is remote and travel daily is by boat only and is approximately 7km from Squamish.
  • This role will be a combination of office and site-based role.

Senior Manager, Project Procurement

Petroplan have recently partnered with a Canadian base metals mining company with operations and projects internationally, primarily producing copper, zinc, gold and nickel.

This position will be located in Vancouver BC, Canada initally followed by Argentina or as designated by senior owners leadership team.


Lead Owner's project procurement function for managing the procurement function, engineering/ supply chain interface, and supply chain construction interface activities within the project.
In addition, perform owner's management team oversight of the EPCM contractor supply chain.
The Senior Manager will generally be responsible for projects in the 1 billion to multi billion dollar range. Provide management advice and guidance for all phases of the project including large complex tasks, associated programs and purchase order documentation ensuring a successful project conclusion through all phases while incorporating world class safety and quality oversight and at an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.

Essential functions:

  • Responsible for managing the owner's procurement function's efforts as they relate to project safety, quality, cost, schedule and scope
  • Manage monitor and report on the work performance of the EPCM contractor for the project. Assist in implementing and maintaining cost and schedule controls for the project.
  • Support owner's team directors in all related activities in engineering, construction, controls etc.
  • Evaluate commercial portions of bid submittals, and oversee administration of orders with vendors for the provision of equipment, vendor engineering and technical support.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to the project management taems an applicable processes, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations, local procurement requirements/


Job Scope:
Develop and lead a world class owner's Procurement team which will manage the associated efforts of EPCM and consultant organisations. Nature of work: Works on extremely complex issues, implements solutions through individual efforts but may delegate more routine tasks to others.
Level of interaction: Collaborates with senior Project executives and site leaders and interacts with external colleagues, Governmental Agencies and senior client management.
Autonomy/decision making: Works under limited supervision and has significant latitude to set objectives, priorities and timelines that may affect a group or functional area within the project.
Budgetary responsibility: Contributes to budget preparation by supplying costs and recommendations. Implements and maintains necessary budgetary controls within the supply chain department.

Management scope: Managers and overseas a direct function staff of 8-10, oversees an EPCM supply chain staff of 50 plus.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a business or technical discipline from accredited curriculum, or in lieu of a degree having successfully completed senior leadership positions on large capital mining or similar projects
  • and ten years related experience and familiarity with processes, systems, project management, supply chain, and construction.
