Facility Siting Project Engineer - Contract Term - (Calgary, Alberta, Canada or Hybrid Remote work)
The Facility Siting Project Engineer reports to the Senior Project Development Supervisor and is responsible for the successful development and execution of capital projects relating to facility siting at our facility just outside of Calgary, Alberta. This is a contract term with a 1-2-year duration.

What you will do:

  • Project overall project management to our Facility Siting project following corporate project management practices and our Facility siting requirements.
  • Ensures the project objectives are clearly understood, alternatives are fully evaluated, and that project scoping and engineering is technically sound and of the required quality
  • Execute all project processes, documents, and requirements through alternative analysis to execution, including stage gate reviews.
  • Responsible for running a multi-disciplinary project and for serving as a project team member to ensure the success of the project through the execution, commissioning & startup, and operation & evaluation phases
  • Provide subject matter expertise into project prioritization process including evaluating options through our Facility Siting standards
  • Act as the safety champion for the project and set the expectations for all parties involved in the project, using corporate safety programs
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and other project controls according to our established practices
  • Develop and provide monitoring and reporting for key project controls to keep paramount the following project priorities: safety, quality, schedule, cost
  • Work directly with site-level management to adapt to business changes as they may arise
  • Ensure the project adheres to all relevant laws, codes, standards, and corporate practices
  • Participate in relevant contractual and commercial negotiations on the company's behalf

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in either Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • Five to ten years of relevant chemical or mechanical experience at an operating industrial site.
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to communicate to different levels of the organization
  • Experience in nitrogen fertilizer facilities and/or structural building design would be considered an asset
  • PMP certification would be considered an asset


  • Engineering Degree
  • Strong understating of Process Safety Management with specific knowledge of Facility Siting
  • Experience representing an owner

Experience with API 752, API 753, and API 756
