Lead Mechanical Technician

Job


A leading oil and gas client require a lead mechanical technician to schedule preventive and corrective maintenance intervention taking into account business need of uninterrupted gas supply to Dubai clients as well as HSE and budget constraints

The mechanical technician will coordinate and perform the day to day maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment at Gas Control Station, Liquefied Natural Gas pipelines and surrounding offsite pipelines
Oversee the activities of company employees and contracted technicians

Key Result Areas


Coordinate the activities of mechanical technicians, providing work instructions, advise and guidance. Working as a job site leader to coordinate with other leaders. Receive incoming work requests, discuss work required with the mechanical supervisor, estimate time, materials or spare parts required to complete the work, receive schedule of repairs with appropriate permit to work and arrange for tools and test equipment etc.


Responsible for servicing, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis and repair of mechanical equipment including, but not limited to:


Turbo-expander/ compressor packages, Diesel generators, Air compressors, Marine gas loading/ unloading arms, Hydraulic gangways, Capstans and mooring hooks, Hydraulic Pumps and systems.


Complete site repairs of mechanical equipment, including: stripping down units, change and replacement of parts and testing equipment, Identify requirements for consumable supplies, tools and equipment to aid the efficient and effective onshore operation.


Ensure that shift handovers are communicated effectively and that standards, procedures and written instructions are understood and adhered to at all times.


Carry out all activities in accordance with Company safety procedures and manufacturer's recommendations, ensuring that all precautions are taken to isolate equipment prior to commencing work.


Complete work orders with details of maintenance or repairs carried out.
Record faults diagnosed, materials and man hour used to complete the work.
Ensure that critical drawings are used and maintained correctly.


Assist in major shutdown and overhaul work, which includes, but is not limited to; the dismantling, testing of mechanical equipment including Turbo-expanders, Compressor, Pumps and Engines. Review history on mechanical breakdowns or trips and identify areas for continuous improvement to Mechanical Supervisor.


Ensure that the mechanical system and equipment is installed, tested, pre-commissioned and commissioned according to Company requirements
Conduct on the job, in house training on various systems to elevate technical knowledge and skill of technicians.
Identify the requirements for level-1 or level-2 Risk Assessments and participate in the RA meetings. Write detailed Job Safety Analysis for each Corrective Maintenance Job.
Assist other trades and disciplines as required within the limits and capability of experience.
Write basic lift plans and perform rigging and slinging duties.


Participate in Company STOP Safety Programmes
Perform Emergency Response Role as appointed by the Company
Coordinate and carry out the complex fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of Mechanical equipment (valves, turbo-expanders, compressors, marine gas arms, hydraulic gangways, diesel engines, pumps etc.) in the assigned areas.
Perform technical craft specific corrective maintenance work that is sometimes conducted by an integrated team of Operations and Electrical and instrument to resolve problems. Identify requirements for major repair, replacement and/ or workshop reconditioning work to be carried out at Jebel Ali Operations Support Base. Update preventive maintenance records.

Knowledge/ Skills

Educational Qualifications


Completion of first years of secondary education
3 years diploma or apprenticeship in the mechanical trade (equivalent to UK, City and Guilds/ National Vocational Qualification or Ordinary National Certificate)

Experience Profile


4-5 years varied installation mechanical technician maintenance and repair experience in an industrial environment, ideally within the Oil and Gas/ Petrochemical industry.

Working knowledge of computer applications such as Office/ CMMS systems (Oracle)

Strong written/ spoken English.
