JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide leadership for deploying and ensuring the sustainability of Methanex Egypt's safety management system elements by developing a highly engaged employee and contractor workforce.

Manages, coaches and developes the Senior Site Safety Advisor, RC Advisors and RC Officers. Ensures effective RC planning and execution strategies are in place including the nested Contractor's Site Safety delivery and compliance with the site's policies, standard & procedures for all onsite/offsite related activities.

Supports the Superintendent for SS & ER to develop and maintain RC plans, develop normal and opportunistic SD plans, compliance with Egyptian Laws, industry standards, and Methanex Corporation standards covering Occupational Health, Safety and Contractor Safety

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

B.Sc. Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Occupational Health & Safety Professional certification in Occupational Health & Safety knowledge preferred. MSc. in safety related fields as well as certifications in any construction or safety related activities (lifting, scaffolding, incident investigations, etc.) are desired but not mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS

Incident Investigations Training and Certifications (Taproot) or similar.

Accredited auditor training.

Incident Command System.

Knowledge of processing facilities, Safe Systems of Work, Major Project conception / design / construction / operation and demonstratable Contractor Management Experience

Ability to deliver HSE Training for Staff and Contractors.

Strong communications skills and knowledge of both English and Arabic. Ability to write concise, clear reports. Strong presentation and communication skills.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 10 years in International or Joint Venture companies (O&G, Up/down stream, Petrochemicals or fertilizer) and have held senior HSE positions that had responsibilities for Project and Contractor Management, Safety Management systems, Emergency Response.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrated Leadership skills and ability to partner successfully with diverse plant teams.

Planning, organization, and time management skills.

Technical problem-solving abilities and LEAN approach.

Interpreting applicable safety codes, standards, guidelines, and relevant legislation/regulations.

Must have a good working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software applications.

SPECIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE

§ Good knowledge of Health and Safety regulations/standards

§ Good knowledge of Safety Management Systems and Operating facilities.

§ Awareness of Management System standards i.e., Responsible Care, ISO, PSM, etc.

§ Good knowledge of Incident Investigation techniques, Occupational/Operational Safety, and Risk Management.
