We are seeking for a candidate who's experienced with Indirect Tax Operations covering Malaysia, Singapore or other Southeast Asian countries.
Job description summary:
As an Indirect Tax Analyst, you will play an integral part within the Gas Power APAC Indirect Tax, managing Client's affiliates indirect tax operations across numerous countries mainly in Asia Pacific, esp for Malaysia, Singapore, and other Southeast Asian countries. You are responsible for managing indirect tax compliance work, indirect tax analysis, support tax audits and assist the team on project management as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with stakeholders with regard to indirect tax compliance work and be the interface between finance teams and firms, if any, regarding
- collection, preparation and analysis of financial data, legal documents and other relevant information required
- for local tax return filings
- for local tax audits
- under other statutory and/or regulatory rules
- Prepare/review quarterly tax provision for businesses/divisions under your care, validate tax balance sheet accounts, coordinate with businesses and local tax team with respect to valuation allowance and FIN48/FAS5 reserve analysis
- Prepare tax account reconciliations and ensure that the tax balances are well supported with work papers
- Prepare, track and instruct tax payments
- Must ensure that all legal entities meet filing obligations on timely & accurate basis. Update internal filing tracker and upload supporting documents
- Compile information required to draft statutory disclosures, co-ordinate completion of tax disclosures, co-ordinate statutory audit and resolve queries raised
- Preparation and booking of tax balance sheets for local tax purposes and deferred tax purposes under guidance of local corporate tax team
- Support the VAT/GST/WHT audits
- Support the business managing account reconciliation process
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Written and verbal fluency in English
- 2-5 years work experience or in similar capacity in professional firms or multinational companies in a compliance focus role
- Strong expertise in indirect tax processes, compliance, tax accounting, and project management for Malaysia, Singapore, or other Southeast Asian countries
- Good analytical skills & ability to technically discuss with local/regional business controllers, country Stat & Tax leader, tax consultants and external auditors where necessary,
- Flexible approach with a strong team spirit
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Effective interpersonal skills and highly professional style when dealing with business clients
- Experienced with accounting systems
- Knowledgeable of intermediate to advance MS Excel, Tableau, SAP, Uniform, etc.
