Senior Electrical/ Civil Site Engineer

Petroplan are pleased to be recruiting for a Site Engineer on behalf of a well-established European Developer with project development and pipeline in place across multi-European locations.

The position will require flexibility on location, as the successful candidate will be managing frequent site visits across Italy.

Main Responsibilities

  • Preparation of required reports addressed to the project manager - Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly progress reports and documentation for internal use and client requirements
  • Pre-condition site surveys
  • Initial site setup and establishment (supported by the HSE site manager)
  • Identification of local resources, materials, services
  • Assist the HSE site manager with establishment and ongoing management of welfare and waste facilities, as well as plant hire (as required)
  • Ongoing management of the on-site operations
  • Ensure correct implementation of electrical, civil and mechanical construction drawings by the main subcontractor
  • Supervise subcontractors schedule and works
  • Manage interferences between subcontractors
  • Report to the project manager any deviations from the PoW or scope by the subcontractors
  • Quantity and quality receipt of on-site materials from main equipment and local suppliers
  • Manage construction flow and timetable
  • Provide technical support and guidance, solving on site problems
  • Preparation of daily, weekly, monthly progress reports and documentation for internal use and client requirements
  • Ensure compliance with QHSE procedures
  • Management of site finishing works and demobilisation
  • Interface with on site Client representatives
  • Managing the works on site from inception to completion, ensuring that it is delivered on-time, within scope, quality and within budget


Requirements

  • Electrical and/or civil and mechanical engineering
  • BSc/MEng in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
  • MSc in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering is considered an advantage
  • Proven track record (minimum 5 years of working experience) in the construction of solar parks.
  • Proven track record in the construction of solar parks is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical and civil construction drawings is essential.
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD.
  • Having lived and/or worked in Italy is considered an advantage
  • Fluency in English essential
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Petroplan are pleased to be recruiting a Permitting Engineer on behalf of a large-scale developer with 35 years of experience in the renewable energy sector based in Milan.
Our client focuses on solar PV, wind, hydro and storage and they're currently developing a pipeline of >15 GW(p).

The position will be based in either Milan or Cagliari.

Main responsibilities

  • Critically review and interpret EU and Italian environmental regulations;
  • Review agro-photovoltaic and onshore wind projects to be acquired or developed by determining environmental issues, permit requirements, and government-required environmental reviews needed for permits;
  • Assist PV and wind groups in assessing the environmental, cultural heritage, etc., restrictions and/or constraints potentially affecting lands according to the Italian regulation/law;
  • Deal with the environmental aspects of the agro-photovoltaic and onshore wind projects and suggest solutions to reduce the impact of the projects;
  • Critically reviewing Environmental Impact Assessment studies and environmental technical reports prepared by developers and/or contractors.
  • Supporting the Project Permitting Director in managing the project permitting applications and procedures (AU/PAUR/PAS/VIA/Screening, etc.), submittal, and associated communications to obtain final permits and approvals for project development;
  • Supporting the Country Manager/Project Directors in developing and maintaining excellent relations with local stakeholders, authorities, and neighbours;
  • Support the supervision and coordination of contractors in environmental studies and permitting activities;
  • Participate in meetings with municipality, county, state, and/or local regulators to define regulatory requirements and schedules.


Requirements

  • Degree in environmental science/engineering or related field;
  • Good knowledge of local and national environmental Italian regulations, Italian permitting processes, and related documentation (e.g., EIA, AU/PAUR, PAS, AUA, AIA, etc.);
  • Prior experience, even minimal, in drafting environmental impact studies, constraint analysis, and management of authorization procedures in Italy (experience in the renewable energy sector is a plus);
  • Five years of experience as an Environmental Permitting Engineer (experience in the renewable energy sector is a plus);
  • Strong time management skills;
  • High communication and negotiation skills;
  • Italian native speaker;
  • Good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken.

Construction Manager


Petroplan are pleased to be recruiting for a Construction Manager on behalf of a well-established European Developer with project development and pipeline in place across multi-European locations.
The position will be based in Foggia, Tarquinia, Ferrara and it will be offered as permanent.
The Construction Manager will be responsible for managing and leading all the construction activities at the site. He will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all construction subcontractors with the aim to ensure the plant is connected on time while safety and quality standards are respected.


Main responsibilities

  • Studies deeply project SOW including engineering drawings, BOM, material purchase orders, and subcontract requisitions.
  • Reports project progress to the PM
  • If productivity is low and a schedule slippage is foreseen, develop, jointly with the PM a recovery plan.
  • Oversee, with the help of site engineers, subcontractor's installation works, checking installation's quality and adherence to the design. In case of major findings issue a nonconformity to the subcontractors.
  • In case of a contract violation by any subcontractor issue an official communication.
  • Reports daily about the material received at the site.
  • Overviews, inspects, and verifies quality and quantities of the materials delivered at the site.
  • Coordinate with the logistic assistant to hand over materials to the subcontractors.
  • Liaise, in collaboration with Procurement and Logistics departments, with suppliers to arrange the material deliveries.
  • For minor works/supplies, it is requested to the CM to find local suppliers. At least three offers need to be received. Technical/commercial conditioning needs to be done and results reported to the PM.
  • Monitors compliance with the client's technical requirements and all the applicable norms and standards.
  • Develop Project Quality plan and Quality Control Procedures in line with the client's requirements. Implements the project quality plan into the project.
  • In case of damages or accidents, jointly with HSE department, makes sure appropriate procedure are followed and adequate reporting is done.
  • Ensure final documentation is delivered by the subcontractors according to the client's standard.
  • Manage the site facilities from a technical and administrative point of view. Rent offices, provide the necessary utilities (water, electricity, internet), organize cleaning activities stipulating contract with local suppliers.
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient handover of the plant to asset-management department.
  • Liaise with DL and CSE where necessary.
  • Be nominated as safety responsible of the site ("preposto alla sicurezza")

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must have experience in utility-scale Solar Power Plant
  • University Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering is a plus.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel); MS Project is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of AUTOCAD
  • Good level of English and knowledge of Italian

The QA/QC Engineer will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the Quality Management System. They will also be of support, as supervisor, with the activity of Site Quality engineers directly involved in the construction activities.

Main responsibilities
* Support and report to Qualty Manager and Project Manager / Director
* Manage the project in schedule as agreed before start of the project
* Complete necessary Documentation and Protocols, according to the local standards
* Liaison with client's Technical Advisor and State Authorities
* Ensures the QC Program or Plan is followed by project and by subcontractor
* Reviews reports for completeness and that test results match what is required in the QC Program
* Reports any recommended changes in materials or procedures and follows up to ensure compliance
* Creates or assists in creating QC programs for projects
* Trains QC Inspectors and assigns QC Inspector activities
* Monitors the activities of all subcontract or personnel for Quality compliance
* Works with discipline superintendents to ensure testing is all inspections are complete and documented
* Develop records and reports of inspection and assessment results (ie: Non-Conformance Reports, Deficiency Reports and Construction Completion Records). Identifies and Issues Non-Conformity Reports.
* Leads the development of ITP's (Inspection Test Plans)
* Leads the review, revisions or development of Quality Plans by project and the QA/QC team
* Assists in TOP (turn over package) requirements and development
* Will oversee quality installation per code, specification and/or standards for, but not limited to.
* Coordinates with customer representatives and technical supervision for inspections and conducts meetings about quality problems including the closure of Non-Conformity Reports.
* Dealing with receiving & archiving of all incoming and out going documentation
* Archiving the whole correspondence with any third party (from RFQs to final quotations and agreements/POs & invoices)
* Create monthly performance reviews and reports and completing of the necessary documentation
* Keeping up to date internal control files (spreadsheets etc) and electronic archive and report to the managers
* Ensure commercial, legal and contractual compliances in all the procurement transactions.
* Liaise with Engineering department for the company's QA/QC policies and procedures and make sure that projects comply with the HQ standards.

Senior Originator- Renewables

Petroplan are recruiting for a Senior Originator on behalf of a well-established European Developer with project development and pipeline in place across multi-European locations.
The Senior Originator is a newly established role created to support their rapidly growing activities Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The successful candidate's task will be to source PPA solutions for their current and future projects and to support their existing portfolio.
Our client would consider a candidate based in either London, Madrid or Milan.

Knowledge requirements:

  • Knowledge of European energy markets, in particular those ones in Eastern Europe
  • Track record of originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing both utility and corporate PPA agreements in various energy markets and cross border
  • Understanding of energy transactions including PPAs, Corporate PPAs, ISDA and EFET
  • Deep knowledge of country specific subsidy and renewable energy support schemes
  • Extensive personal network in the European PPA/energy market
  • Proven ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders in multiple countries and at all levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful candidate must be a self-starter with a proven track record of working both autonomously and as part of a team



Preferred Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a PPA origination or Power Trading or Energy Consultancy role
  • Experience of the solar PV industry and utility scale batteries an advantage
  • Strong commercial delivery mindset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be fluent in English (additional languages highly desirable)
