Senior Project Development Manager

Petroplan are pleased to be recruiting for a Senior Project Development Manager on behalf of a well-established European Developer with project development and pipeline in place across multi-European locations.

The role is permanent and will be based in London.

Main Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for project managing all aspects of the development of utility scale solar projects specifically, with the potential of managing storage and Green Hydrogen projects too.

You will be involved in stakeholder management, site identification, land agreements, selection and screening of sites, environmental assessments, permitting and financial closing of solar projects. You will frequently collaborate with peers in other teams across my Client's organisation in Europe and internationally

As Senior Project Development Manager you will:

  • Work towards solar project opportunities and manage the development of solar projects
  • Coordinate planning application and EIAs
  • Negotiate and secure option and lease agreements, Development Agreements, Share Purchase Agreements
  • Be responsible for project delivery, and lead various internal professionals in design, technical analysis, financial and commercial modelling, legal DD and grid connection
  • Oversee relationships with project stakeholders, including developers, service operators, local councils and suppliers.


Requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant field, e.g. - engineering, legal, business, planning or environmental for example
  • 8 year's project development management experience in the renewable energy sector in the UK
  • Previous experience in Land securing, permitting and connection processes within the UK
  • Ability to manage and deliver projects, programmes and budgets
  • Experience working with a multinational company
  • Flexibility to travel internationally when the need arises
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills
  • Good team working and team management skills

Junior Originator - London

On behalf of a rapidly growing Renewable Energy Development client of ours, we have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Originator to join the business.

Previous experience within PPA Origination or Energy/Power Trading would be desirable, however Graduates with a Finance/Economics background and an interest/passion within the sector can aslo be considered (ideally with relevent internships within the industry, placement years gained)

You will joined an extremely experienced team originating and structuring PPA deals across Europe. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Research within the European Energy Markets
  • Supporting the wider team in helping with Originating, Structuring and executing PPA agreements
  • Building a network of useful contacts/companies who can assist with our client securing PPA agreements
  • Using the above requirements, helping the company to build a pipeline of feasible PPA opportunities across both Western and Eastern Europe.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, energy management, or a related field.
  • Experience in a commercial setting within a renewable energy / low carbon / power focused role.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis. Ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Excel) is desirable.

Project development Manager - Hybrid role


Petroplan are recruiting for a project developer to join the team to one of the top 3 renewable energies developer in the UK and Ireland.


The ideal candidate need be able to progress solar PV and energy storage projects from land identification stage through to pre-construction.


Responsibilities:

  • Identifying new land areas for the development of solar and storage projects using a range of desktop land finding tools.
  • Managing and overseeing projects over the entire project development process including planning, grid applications / connections and stakeholder liaison.
  • Liaising with external planning consultants, local planning officers, surveyors, grid operators, technical advisors and other stakeholders.
  • Producing regular project pipeline reports and issuing to key internal and external parties.
  • Working with European Development Director and Finance team to manage development cash flow forecasts for all projects in pipeline.
  • Compiling detailed plant forecast performance data into master spreadsheets and manage updates throughout the development and design process.
  • Oversee document management systems including compilation of data rooms for project transactions.
  • Liaising with Technical Services and Operations teams as required to ensure smooth transition of projects between internal departments.
  • Producing high quality bid documentation for new renewable opportunities.
  • Additional duties as may be required in the execution of the role.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in solar and battery storage industries
  • Previous experience of working in a project development role advantageous.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Motivated and able to work on own initiative.
  • Organisational skills and time management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A self-starter, proactive team player, capable of leading by doing, able to work under pressure.
  • No specific requirements. Any previous qualifications or training related to renewables will be a bonus.

The role

To supervise and train staff. Prepare and update Electrical deliverables. The successful candidate will have experience in green field and brown field engineering of offshore O&G facilities and renewables. Capable of contributing to many areas as part of a small project team. Capable of originating documentation and working with minimum supervision and external input.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the quality of work undertaken by themselves and others is commensurate with the goal of the activity considering the constraints of time and budget
  • To support with competency the Engineering Design of Electrical Systems for Offshore and Onshore Installations, from Concept phase to Detail Design, actively participating in the production of Project Deliverables and Discipline Meetings
  • Conduct Power System studies including calculation files.
  • Design of substations
  • Coordinate engineering activities with other interested parties
  • Represent the company with Clients on technical matters
  • Prepare and update technical specifications
  • Prepare and issue reports on electrical design
  • Prepare and issue Enquiry Documentation
  • Technical Bid analysis of electrical equipment and materials
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
  • Assist with the preparation of budget estimates (materials and manhours)
  • Review Project Documents produced by third parties
  • Direct and lead other junior engineers and designers as required

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Candidates must hold a minimum Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering combined with 5 years of professional experience in design and engineering
  • Candidate must be registered with an Engineering Council or equivalent and preferably a Chartered Engineer (or working towards) is considered advantageous
  • Proven success in delivering studies and preparing clear, concise reports against time, cost, and quality objectives
  • Experience in feasibility/concept selection studies and FEED projects

Competencies & Soft Skills:

Electrical engineer, with experience as an electrical engineer in the oil and gas industry for offshore projects. Candidate should have:

Petroplan are recruiting for an Originator on behalf of a well-established European Developer with project development and pipeline in place across multi-European locations.
The successful candidate's task will be to source PPA solutions for their current and future projects and to support their existing portfolio.
Previous UK experience within Renewables would be highly desirable.
Knowledge requirements:

  • Knowledge of European energy markets, in particular those ones in the UK
  • Track record of originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing both utility and corporate PPA agreements in various energy markets and cross border
  • Understanding of energy transactions including PPAs, Corporate PPAs, ISDA and EFET
  • Deep knowledge of country specific subsidy and renewable energy support schemes
  • Extensive personal network in the UK PPA/energy market
  • Proven ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders in multiple countries and at all levels
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The successful candidate must be a self-starter with a proven track record of working both autonomously and as part of a team


Preferred Work Experience:

  • Experience in a PPA origination or Power Trading or Energy Consultancy role
  • Experience of the solar PV industry and utility scale batteries an advantage
  • Strong commercial delivery mindset
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in energy sector in UK is a must
