Offshore Safety Coach

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client, a leading owner/operator Oil & Gas organization is looking to add a Safety Coach to their team for a 6 - 10 month independent contract. This position will start in the St. John's office for the first few weeks, then transition into a 21/21 offshore rotation.

Job Overview

The primary responsibility will be to coach and mentor offshore teams in the use, administration, and compliance with, the organization and regulatory policies and procedures. This is a key role, supporting the frontline leadership program and ensuring operations are conducted in a safe manner. The Offshore Safety Advisor will promote safe working attitudes and practices, and participate in incident or near miss investigations. They will support the rig in implementing the rig safety program and assist in implementing improvements to the rig safety program.

Key Responsibilities

  • See to it that operational safety tools are used and optimized in everyday use on the rig.
  • Ensure that relevant rig procedures are continuously improved based on personal and on rig experience gained through the use of operational safety tools.
  • Assist in the review of reported incidents and investigations.
  • Describe and suggest improvements in deficiencies of the safety tools or the use of them.
  • Steward the organization's Frontline Leadership Program.
  • Report monthly statistics to the EH&S Analyst
  • Upload incident reports to Project Place and enter corrective actions into Enableon.
  • Monitor Barents safety performance and contribute to the development of initiatives to foster a continuously improving Safety Culture.
  • Ensure the Exploration & Production DCI Priorities will be adhered to.
  • Ensure pollution prevention arrangements are verified at least twice a year for Bunkering at Sea as per the organization's DCI Safety Plan.
  • Verify once per month that deck scruppers are being regularly inspected and conduct a visual inspection of all accessible drain plugs once per week.
  • conduct regular inspections of the entire operation including the MODU and all support services.
  • Verify that the rig contractor's inspection records of H2S equipment is compliant at least once per month or in operations where H2S is expected.
  • Verify the rig contractor's health and hygiene inspection records at a minimum once per month
  • Undertake office work in certain or well defined issues when deemed necessary and directly connected with improvement of the operational safety.


Key Requirements

  • Must have an extensive safety and training background
  • Must have previous off-shore experience
  • CAPP East Coast Offshore Medical Certificate;
  • C-NLOPB Approved Basic Survival Training;
  • H2S Alive
  • Fall Arrest
  • Confined Space Entry
