Inside Sales Manager - EPC - global remit

The primary responsibility of the Inside Sales Manager is to drive disciplined application of our sales process, efficient and accurate reporting, commercial leadership and proposal leadership/support.

The role is focused on Internal Sales. In partnership with sales leads and operations leaders, the Inside Sales Manager positions our client to win work and support the growth of the business. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Sales (Head of Inside Sales and Sales Administration) Flexible working can be discussed.

As Inside Sales Manager you will:
* Collaborate with the sales team to recognise efficiency via the share of materials, information, knowledge and best practices
* Ensure that costs are benchmarked and represent value for money within competition and selection process
* Produce sales reports for regional management, business unit and executive leadership
* Manage the regional Client Relationship Management System
* Improve day-to-day efficiencies (reporting, benchmarking)
* Support on the production of sales budgets / targets and department budgets
* Support sales and operations in research activities, including client, competitor and market research, development of core client strategies, participation in development of executive summaries and white papers
* Develop commercial principles and remuneration basis for pursuits and/or joint venture relationships (including direct engagement and ownership of partner discussions)
* Actively work with sales and operations to develop and implement upfront positioning action plans, including develop win plan, competitor analyses, strategy reviews, identify project teams
* Support sales leads with external meetings, presentations and negotiations (instances will require the candidate to lead these meetings)
* Undertake due diligence for commercial, legal and financial risks this includes seeking counsel from Legal, A&F, Tax, Treasury, Compliance, Anti-corruption / Due Diligence, Discipline Managers, Procurement / Subcontracts, Construction/Commissioning, Project Management, Operations, HR and Business Strategy to support proposals and negotiations to contract award.
* Manage proposal budgets
* Lead commercial effort on various pursuits through the lifecycle of bid process
* Support the Sales Handover Process covering the as-bid proposal, commercial and contractual elements
* Supporting the maintenance of data/information needed for the preparation of proposals
* Preparation of expressions of interest, pre-qualifications, client presentations and support on other sales and marketing activities
* Deputy for Senior Manager, Sales as required.

Skills/Qualifications:
* University degree or equivalent
* Strong sales experience gained in the hydrocarbon contractor industry across the upstream and/or downstream markets
* Good understanding of sales / proposal principles
* Experience required in contracting principles and partnership arrangements
* Ideally a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent status

Job Purpose:

  • Supervises, reviews and checks the process activities including Process Design Basis, Philosophies, Studies, Heat & Material Balances, PFDs & UFDs, PEDs, Process Systems including P&IDs, Flow Assurance, Relief and Flare Design, Process Datasheets & HAZOP Close Out. Identifies and resolves discrepancies and divergences from original proposal by raising technical queries with projects / client.
  • Capable of participating in Factory Acceptance Test's.
  • Participates in multi-discipline Engineering Design Reviews and provides all necessary process engineering input and support to close out of actions.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in chemical engineering
  • Chartered Status preferred. Significant related experience working for Engineering/Client organizations in the Oil and Gas Industry and/ or Low Carbon Energy Transition projects

  • Master's degree in chemical engineering or post-graduate chemical engineering qualification.
  • Chartered status preferred. Significant related experience of working for engineering/client organizations in the oil and gas industry and/ or Low Carbon Energy Transition projects.
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in oil and gas
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent coordination, monitoring, and supervisory skills
  • Exposure to consultancy, FEED/ detailed design, and EPC projects

Your responsibilities:
Primary Duties

  • Allocate appropriate manpower for the preparation of proposals/ concept studies, FEED and detailed engineering on projects. Maximise levels of re-imbursibility at all times.
  • May undertake position of a Lead Engineer or Study Manager on a small project in addition to corporate departmental responsibilities.
  • Continuously evaluate manpower and competency requirements; develop manpower plans, charts and schedules. Recommend, assign and allocate manpower for the execution of engineering activities within the budgeted project man-hours. Recommend cost effective measures to reduce overall manpower costs. Evaluate current manpower skill levels and allocate work among engineering staff according to complexity, specialised training and project requirements.
  • Recommend recruitment requirements in support of department engineering activities; participate in screening of applicants, interviewing, selection and hiring of candidates in accordance with company procedures and approval processes.
  • Direct the activities of department performance evaluations. Establish clear work standards and ensure performance objectives are met. Evaluate and make recommendation for promotions, salary increases, transfers, and terminations.
  • Determine training and development requirements within the department; confer with supervisory level personnel in the identification of skill gaps and training needs. Mentor and motivate department staff.
  • Analyse technology trends, recommend upgrade of systems and procedures when required. Assess, identify and develop technical tools, conduct presentations and seminars to update and improve the quality of engineering deliverables.
  • Interface and regularly meet with client and vendor representatives, head internal staff and kick-off meetings, ensure the progress of project completion in accordance to determined schedules, allotted man hours and budgeted costs. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule related issues.
  • Identify and organise the preparation and implementation of standard design guides, specifications, datasheets and checklists
  • Consult Quality Assurance with any quality issues ensuring compliance with company ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures. Coordinate Internal and Client audit requests and facilitates audit procedures of engineering systems within the department. Comply with other company accredited frameworks such as ISO 14001.
  • Promote safety awareness in strict compliance with company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and assess department material resources, recommend library books, codes and standards and software requirements.
  • Hold regular departmental meetings and maintain corporate communication with department members.
  • Provide technical corporate leadership in support of project activities and may approve critical deliverables.
  • Address personnel management issues in conjunction with project and HR functions, undertakes appraisal, and responsible for reviewing training and development needs.
  • Participate in preparation of proposals including execution statements, man-hour cost estimates and client clarifications.
  • Raise issues of concern, development and improvement to Engineering Director

Physical Effort and Work Environment

  • Duties essentially performed in Main Office. Time spent in supervision, planning, coordination, attending meetings and maintaining contacts. Required to travel to other company offices or client's offices and attend site visits as necessary, in accordance with corporate or project requirements.
  • Our team will be expected to be in the office nominally 3 days a week to help build that positive team culture.
  • As we expand and grow, the company will seek to relocate from the current offices to larger premises in Surrey.

Qualification/ Certification:

  • Honours Degree in Engineering.
  • Chartered Status preferred. Significant related project management experience working for Engineering/Client organisations in the Oil and Gas Industry
