Lab Technician role
Job description
Wells Solutions Fluids Laboratory provides specialist technical services to support drilling and completion operations across the globe and works with Innovation and Engineering (I&E) team to evaluate new products/tools which can improve efficiency.
The Lab Technician works in the laboratory to support all Regions by performing lab tests as required. Laboratory technician operates wide range of high-pressure high temperature equipment, rheometers and performs analytical testing. Lab Technician works with other engineers and team members from diverse backgrounds to understand project goals and design under the supervision of the Lab manager. The candidate has good technical and industry knowledge.
Responsibilities

  • Work in accordance with Our Code, values and the Well Solutions Guiding Principles of understanding risks.
  • Support the safe delivery of projects, including driving continuous improvement of local HSSE standards and procedures and especially within laboratories
  • Maintain good inventory of consumables and equipment in the labs. Keep a good record of calibration, inspection and maintenance of equipment and parts to ensure minimal down-time including high standards of housekeeping.
  • Performs fluids and formation damage STS project works with focus on providing technical support on fluids evaluations as needed to the various Regions.
  • Observing lab testing processes, conducting research, and finding ways to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Analyze test results and derive conclusions.
  • Write technical reports summarizing the results and observations and present it to the regional stakeholders.
  • Delivery laboratory projects as per SoW and in agreed timeline.
  • Complete COSHH of chemicals prior to using in the laboratory.
  • Maintain close contact with the Discipline Community of Practice.
  • Work closely with other sub-disciplines (Fluids, Cementing, Innovation and Engineering) in terms of providing laboratory and technical support.


Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering /chemistry or similar.
  • Prior industry-specific knowledge preferable.

Our Client an Global EPC Company are looking for x3 Subcontracts Supervisors to be based in their Surrey offices. The roles are offered with a 12 month renewable contract, Outside IR35 (determination dependant) and a negotiable hourly rate.

Job Overview;

As Subcontracts Supervisor you'll supervise the subcontracts activities within project teams to undertake prequalification, due diligence, compliance and other checks of subcontractors capabilities.

Job Purpose:

  • Supervise the subcontracts activities within project teams to prepare and issue of requests for proposals/quotations.
  • Under broad direction and in conjunction with legal, negotiate subcontracts including appropriate flow downs and other risk (insurance, indemnity, etc.).
  • Undertake evaluation of subcontractor proposals and preparation of tender evaluation reports/recommendations for award in accordance with subcontracts department and project procedures.
  • Produce project plans and reports on subcontracts activities.
  • Administer and manage subcontracts in accordance with subcontracts department and project procedures.
  • Verify and process subcontractor invoices, and support monitoring of cost and VOWD.
  • Management of claims and advising project teams regarding management of change and preparation of change orders / amendments.
  • Close out of subcontracts, management of closeout documentation.
  • Maintain electronic filing systems and registers in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collation of specific projects lessons learned and best practices and feed back to Subcontracts Management functional management.

Job requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Law, Business, Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar. Graduate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience following undergraduate degree, or equivalent work experience in lieu of undergraduate degree
  • Preferably Subcontract management experience in the oil & gas industry

Senior Pipeline Engineer

Position: Senior Pipeline FEA Engineer
Location: Surrey / Hybrid
Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Prepare and review engineering design basis, specifications, procedures, philosophies, material take- offs and other documentation as required to support different phases of the project, namely: conceptual, FEED and detailed design of the pipelines scope.
* Produce reports and calculations to support different phases of the project, namely: conceptual, FEED and detailed design analysis.
* Produce engineering design basis.
* Resolve technical queries.
* Provide deliverables list and philosophies.
* Provide CTs for different pipelines work scope.
* Support bid proposals, technical queries, execution statements, schedule and man-hour estimates.
* Provide input and review of related drawings.
* Participate in design reviews and verifications
* Carry out any other subsea engineering works as and when required by the Company.

Essential Qualifications and Education:
* Strong capability in Abaqus FE analyses as applied to subsea pipelines
* Thorough understanding of the principles governing pipeline design, such as Effective Axial Force, pipe-soil interaction, material performance, non-linear relationships, etc
* Experience with various buckle mitigation and walking solutions, with ability to model system behaviour and explain observed results
* Able to perform non-linear VAS and global buckling analyses
* Able to perform pipeline walking analyses for flowline transient conditions
* Familiarity with principal pipeline codes such as DNV-ST-F101 and related codes
* Clear communication skills, including report writing, with ability to present ideas and results to others
* Degree in Engineering with minimum overall experience of 6 years in a similar role
