Lead Engineer - Safety Process

Petroplan, a recruitment staffing firm focused on the oil and gas industry, is seeking a highly experienced and qualified Process Safety Engineering Lead to join a client's team in Houston, TX, with extensive travel to site. Reporting to the VP Operations Engineering, the selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical and engineering leadership on all process safety management elements such as MOC, PSSR, PHA, process design.
  • Provide process safety and engineering leadership to communicate and evaluate process safety risks.
  • Day-to-day ownership of Process Safety Barrier Health reporting.
  • Lead PHA teams (HAZOP, LOPA, What If, HAZID, etc.).
  • Lead process safety incident investigations, especially high potential events.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and keep them updated in accordance with changes in technology and industry best practices.
  • Monitor, internally audit, report, and confirm the closeout of associated action items on activities contributing to operational risk.
  • Participate in Pre-Start-Up / Readiness Reviews for major equipment commissioning activities and support Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
  • Participate in Go-no-Go reviews.
  • Primary interfaces include contractor CSU team, engineering, and operations departments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering or other Engineering Discipline.
  • 10 years of experience in HSSE management including emergency response functions and investigation. LNG facility experience preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of LNG experience or oil and gas.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and management of safety systems and procedures.
  • Oversight of safety audits and inspections.
  • Monitoring safety metrics and analyzing data.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.
