About:

Petroplan is actively recruiting a full-time Sr. Manager, Process Engineering to support long-term operations for an LNG facility in the South Texas area. The position will require work from their Houston Headquarters during early job phases before transitioning to site location, prior to commissioning and startup.

Structure:

  • This position reports to the Sr. Director of Engineering Operations
  • This position directly manages a Sr. Process Engineer and a Laboratory Supervisor

Experience & Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
  • PE Certification, TX
  • 10 years of process engineering management
  • 5 years in LNG plant design and/or operations
  • APCI liquefaction facility design and operations experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HYSYS and/or other equilibrium heat and material balance software
  • Knowledge of applicable US-based LNG facility codes, standards, and regulations
  • Familiarity with maintaining ISO 9001 certification(s)
  • Fundamental knowledge of laboratory equipment, sample collection, and analysis techniques for LNG facilities
  • Demonstrated experience with the Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (APCI) Propane Precooled Mixed Refrigerant Process (C3MR)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Process Engineering and Laboratory teams in supporting daily plant operations and enhancing plant efficiency to achieve optimal production.
  • Oversee the monitoring of Key Process Indicators (KPIs) for process unit operations, encompassing assessments of fouling, equipment freezing, thermal efficiency, and more.
  • Advocate for and ensure adherence to PHA/HAZOP and Safety Case protocols for recommended process adjustments and operational enhancements.
  • Serve as the Technical Authority (TA) for high-level decisions concerning process engineering and laboratory management.
  • Establish standards, procedures, and instructions for process engineering and laboratory work.
  • Initiate, oversee, and maintain contracts and service agreements for process engineering and laboratory software licensing.
  • Manage the technical proficiencies of core process engineering and laboratory personnel, including identifying and overseeing relevant training and development opportunities.
  • Fulfill obligations related to process and laboratory components of the Operations Management System (OMS) during the FEED and detailed engineering project phases.
  • Responsible for establishing process design foundations, functional specifications, and overseeing process-related aspects of Scope of Work (SOW) documents, cost estimates, Approval for Expenditures (AFEs), consultant evaluations, process design evaluations, HAZOPs, bid development, and support for brownfield project construction tenders.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Document Control teams to uphold ISO 9001 compliance for process and laboratory procedures and documentation.
  • Manage the execution of performance tests and equipment compliance tests within the process and laboratory domains.
  • Provide process engineering and laboratory support for cross-functional teams like Operations, Maintenance, Process Control, Reliability, Quality, Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), Document Control, Environmental, etc.
  • Responsible for overseeing budgets associated with the Process Engineering and Laboratory teams.
