The role exists to ensure all wells are drilled safely, compliant with all regulations, and efficiently to meet defined well objectives in accordance with the Statement of Requirements (SOR) and meets all expectations of the New Wells Common Process. This delivery requires collaboration and effective communication across Subsurface and Wells teams.

Well Planning:

  • Support well planning activities and construction of relevant NWD documents consistent with New Wells Common Process and in compliance with tandards for Safety and Operational Risks
  • Liaise with Renewal/Depletion Geoscientists to ensure the well planning activities and documents continue to meet the target objectives and desired outcomes articulated for the well
  • Support the construction of key documents, meeting participation and decisions (WCD (Well Concept Document), NDS (No Drilling Surprises) meeting, select the well option, and assist the Operations Geologist with the creation of operational decision trees, and finalization of the data acquisition program)
  • Assist in the creation of pre-drill risk registers and ensure mitigation and contingency plans are created for all geological risks
  • Support the construction of the SOR document ensuring the well objectives, data acquisition, and all relevant overburden characterization elements are contained
  • Ensure appropriate resourcing of well-site geologists both onshore/offshore through active engagement with suppliers
  • Ensure integration of well planning and operational activity through strong collaboration with key stakeholders, NWD and Wells leadership
  • Assist in the construction of the GOP ensuring all relevant information is contained in this document


Geological Operations:

  • Participate in daily NWD/subsurface operations meeting
  • Participate as required and contribute relevant interpretations NWD/subsurface at the morning Wells rig call
  • Participate in subsurface hole section previews, hole section reviews for the well
  • Participate in DWOP, LWOP, CWOP exercises
  • Provide support to the Operations Geologist: daily and as needed ops call, provide up to date information and offset date
  • Help interpret and select formation tops, casing, and core points per SOR and appropriate decision trees.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of the data acquisition program and data quality per agreed terms and the security of all sensitive subsurface data and well results

  • Post Well:
  • Support successful EOW Report completion ensuring the report meets the expectations of the New Wells Common Process
  • Ensure all data is finalised and electronically captures in the corporate regional data store and hard data copy is distributed accordingly to stakeholders
  • Capture and document all post well key learnings in PWR and share in appropriate NWD venues.
  • Support root cause analysis for any NPT event related to subsurface operations (Orange category) and ensure these learnings are distributed through the appropriate venues and stakeholders
  • University Degree in Geology or related subject
  • 5-10 years of relevant industry experience, most of which should have been gained in a geological well planning environment. General Knowledge of Operations Geology would be an asset but not required
  • Essential industry experience in the areas of well planning, and geological interpretation
  • Geological, seismic and petrophysical log interpretation and workstation skills are essential; Petrel and TechLog experience are highly desirable
  • Experience with deep water Gulf of Mexico exploration and development wells is highly desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The individual needs to have a collaborative team-first mentality, be self-motivated, with a strong ability to integrate across disciplines

Reservoir Engineer VI

Responsible for the generation and continuous improvement of the hydrocarbon or CCUS field and area development plan and its implementation, covering operation, surveillance, resources progression, risk management and technology.

Accountabilities:

  • Promote hydrocarbon resources progression by assessing surveillance and analogue data, development activities and materiality, and working across multi-disciplines to provide input and justification for reserves/resources estimation and reporting, following company's guidelines.
  • Monitor field and well performance data and plan further programmes for surveillance, risk management and reservoir studiesShort term and life-of-field production forecast
  • Provides support for well and project planning processes, including drilling operations, well evaluations and facility options, maintaining various performance and management tools to track performance compared to plan.
  • Ensures that appropriate appraisal data is obtained in the exploration wells to evaluate development options and mitigate development risks and uncertainty, determining realistic development scenarios and assessing the commercial viability of the prospects.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Bsc/Msc/PhD degree in Petroleum/ Reservoir Engineering or related applied science or engineering
  • Essential skills include:
    • Reservoir Management (making a field development plan)
    • Reservoir Performance (implement the field development plan)
    • Reservoir Simulation (reliable forecast by classical RE or numerical approaches).
  • Direct hands-on experience with analytical / numerical RE toolkit (PETEX IPM, Nexus, Pressure Transient Analysis, Decline Curve Analysis)
  • Developing level of data science and analytics skill is a minimum
  • Ability to organize and lead cross discipline workshops and meetings.
  • Able to manage multiple activities and to quickly respond to changing business priorities.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Experienced with presenting to senior management.

Project Controls Lead (Contract)

The Project Controls Lead reports to the Project Controls Manager and will be responsible for planning, budgeting, change management, cost control, and cost estimating all asset/hub activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for all asset planning, budgeting, change management, cost control, cost estimating, progress measurement, reporting and forecasting activities
  • Interface with Key offshore team members
  • Prepare project cost estimates and assist with annual budgets
  • Accountability of all asset schedules
  • Accountability of cost reporting including forecasting and accruals
  • Assist with risk analysis on projects
  • Prepare project closeout cost and schedule reporting
  • Assist with project controls, planning, cost control, change management and cost estimating plans and procedures as well as provide input into other key PMT plans and procedures
  • Develop and maintain project work breakdown structure (WBS) and cost breakdown structure (CBS)
  • Manage AOP budget and annual goals, including annual and monthly budgets, to ensure proper recording and forecasting of actual costs, commitments, accruals, trends, forecasting, and contingency draw down
  • Coordinate cost estimates for new scopes of work and other changes working with other PMT members to build supporting documentation
  • Provide accurate weekly and monthly reporting in a timely manner
  • Prepare cost and schedule reviews and participate in Senior Leadership Reviews
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to potential impacts to scope, cost, and schedule
  • Coordinate integrated asset short, medium, and long-term schedules, track progress, facilitate operating rhythms and review sessions.
  • Establish schedule compliance metrics.

Job Requirements:

  • 10 years of project experience in the project controls discipline preferably with an O&G operator
  • Strong knowledge and experience in planning, cost engineering and controls with heavy budgeting, cost forecasting, change management, cost estimating, and scheduling experience
  • Proficient using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects), Primavera planning software, and other specialized cost software packages and prior experience in SAP
  • Major Project Planning and offshore operation experience preferred
  • Ability to build relationships quickly in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and multi-company environments
