IT Systems Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Petroplan are currently looking for IT Systems Engineer to join their client as a IT Systems Engineer. The role is a permanent position and will be based in Aberdeen

Job Management:

  • Responsible for ensuring the support, development and maintenance of the clients applications in accordance with agreed standards/Service Level Agreements
  • Maintain the Power BI dashboard(s) and roll out software updates as issued by Microsoft
  • Implementation of Sharepoint
  • Provide consistent level of support, as outlined in SLA, to all users across the business
  • Respond to system tickets in agreed timescale, as per SLA
  • Deliver projects to timescales agreed by and with the project owner
  • To oversee with input and support from relevant departments effected data held in the clients C-SAM and review data quality regularly
  • Ensure that all changes, updates and necessary information is captured electronically in relevant server folder(s)
  • Undertake monthly reviews and maintenance checks across C-SAM and other business systems e.g. PowerBI, ETM etc
  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot system issues - working in partnership with IT colleagues as necessary
  • Set up and removal of new starters for C-SAM

Mentoring Development

  • Mentoring/coaching performance of all direct reports
  • Identify training needs and submit TRF's

Department Management

  • Proactively promote knowledge sharing across IT&S and the business
  • Advise and assist the business to identify opportunities how we can make best use of existing systems
  • Escalate business critical issues to management team
  • Manage the development and implementation of a cost effective Business Systems strategy and delivery plan which support the clients departments in working more productively and efficiently
  • To support the Marketing & Communications Director on the delivery of the overall IT & Systems roadmap
  • Keep up-to-date on new technologies and business system solutions through research
  • Effective management of department budgets
  • Take ownership of development standards, naming conventions, etc. within the applications team

HSEQ Leadership

  • Demonstrate and encourage safety behaviours - leading by example
  • Raise HSEQ reports as required
  • Close out Q pulse actions in a timely manner
  • Liaise with Safety Representative as and when required

Compliance of Management Systems

  • Ensure compliance and engagement with the clients Governance process in terms of approval and prioritisation of work
  • Work to ITIL based processes including review and improvement where required.
  • Take ownership of problem management reviews and identify areas for improvement and root cause analysis to aim to address any problems
  • Check, revise and validate documentation

Technical Support

  • Provide assistance and leadership in the support of a range of IT&S solutions across the clients.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise across specific applications and databases and give advice and input to the function as to their use by the business
  • Act as the main point of contact between the clients and C-SAM on all technical and software enquiries
  • Provide and update business systems' user guides e.g. C-SAM, ETM
  • Training C-SAM super users and host refresher courses on software updates
  • Ensure reporting requirements fulfil statutory and the clients requirements

People Management

  • Ensure the team are working in accordance with common methodologies, processes, procedures and architecture. Effectively manage all people matters in a fair and consistent manner, in line with the Company policies & procedures
  • Participate in the recruitment to identify key personnel
  • Management of department/staff holidays as required
  • Ensure the efficient use of department resources
  • Lead employee training reviews and ensure training plan is being followed
  • Continual improvement through coaching, training, appraisals and performance management
  • Manage direct reports, ensuring that you provide correct support as and when required
  • Participate in succession planning process
  • Apply HR policies & procedures where necessary
  • Get advice from HR as and when required

PERSON SPECIFICATION - Qualifications, skills and experience required for the role

  • Tertiary education to degree/recognised certification level in a relevant subject or relevant industry experience
  • Formal service management qualification - ITIL
  • Extensive experience in delivery and support of Asset Management Software
  • Wide grounding in all aspects of IT&S with detailed knowledge of business application development and project life cycle: change control, reliability analysis, and quality management
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the business use of specific applications/able to provide assistance over a wide range of applications and system issues
  • Demonstrable detailed technical understanding of a proportion of the applications within the clients portfolio
  • Experience of delivering and supporting application databases - SQL
  • Knowledge of reporting/ dashboard solutions
  • Previous experience with creation and implementation of Sharepoint
