Asset Integrity Engineer

Petroplan are assisting a client of ours in their search for an Asset Integrity Engineer to join their team in Ghana, residentially. This individual will be responsible for the management of the Asset Integrity inspection for an FPSO asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that regular inspections and surveys are conducted across facilities to ensure corrosion levels are not impacting original design
  • Contractor Management with external resources, utilizing established service agreements and approved contractors
  • Interface internally with key Operations, Maintenance, Planning and Engineering staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the inspection and testing programme
  • Budgetary management for topside equipment

Key Candidate Criteria:

  • Experience in the offshore Oil and Gas sector and have thorough knowledge of asset integrity management principles
  • 7 years post graduate industry experience in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience in the offshore oil and gas industry preferred
  • Strong experience working on African based FPSO's
  • Thorough working knowledge of API, ASME, NACE, ANSI ASNT/PCN industry standards/codes relevant to the discipline
  • Using Continuous Improvement techniques to find and apply best practice in a pragmatic, fit for purpose approach

Overview:

Our client is looking for a Gas Safety Engineer to join the Gas Technology team covering the East Midlands area.

The role will be working on client sites performing the duties of a Responsible Person (Gas). The Gas Safety Engineer will undertake the practical implementation of the Gas Safety Management Programme for the gas networks within a defined area. The role will implement the Gas Safety Management Plan at site level and will be responsible for the control of gas activities.

Key Accountabilities:

Undertake physical gas surveys - determine the physical condition of gas installation (pipeline survey)

Ensure as far as reasonably practical that all persons within the establishment(s) observe the requirements of the Gas Safety Case

Provide professional and technical support, and advice, where required to maintenance teams and end users and coordinate any planned maintenance requiring work on the gas network including emergency works

Support the Help Desk in responding to requests for professional and technical advice

Keep and maintain the Gas Safety Management Plan, records and update Management Information Systems (MIS) as required

Provide support and where directed, manage gas projects providing technical input and producing business cases

Travel to other sites within regional area

Maintain training, familiarisation and knowledge across all sites within the regional area of Gas networks, installations and skilled staff

Control Access and act as custodian to the document centre and provide documents when required

If a site contains a hazardous area, actively communicate and co-operate with the hazardous area manager

Assess the competence of Gas Skilled Persons for appointment and review experience and performance before re-appointment, and at other times as necessary. Ensure skilled persons are aware of any restrictions related to their work. Where necessary and after discussion with the GSM, suspend the appointment of Skilled Persons

Update MIS skills register element and upload copies of certificates of registered operatives

Review risk registers and follow maintenance and management processes, including approving and authorising site-specific risk assessments

Liaise with helpdesk to provide support during a gas emergency situation

Attend and support the organisation of any site-based emergency event training with the end user and gas supplier and provide assistance to the emergency services

Investigate any gas incidents or reported gas leaks and complete incident reports

Notify the External Gas Distribution Network owner or Energy Team of any changes in use which may affect gas consumption

Undertake specific training to develop and maintain gas knowledge

Undertake mandatory refresher training.

Project Operations Engineer

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Projects support

  • Prepare, review and comment Technical Documents (procedures, drawings, rigging and sea fastenings design, schedules, etc⣦) to support operations.
  • Participate to the definition of the required offshore spread for the project/tender including construction vessels, support and transportation vessels.
  • Liaise with SCM to select 3rd party vessels and operations related services and assets by preparing SOWs and reviewing technical offers.
  • Participate to installation feasibility reviews and HIRAs and provide operational input to the Engineering and Planning functions.
  • Support the POM in all the vessels readiness activities:- drive and monitor the progress of Marine Assurance on assigned vessels.
  • review vessels POBs (including project personnel and 3rd parties) and organise the manning of chartered vessels with the support of Crewing.
  • responsible for ensuring that the installation spread has full support, in terms of Logistic, Transportation, Safety, & Certification etc.
  • Support the POM in developing the baseline Project schedule.
  • Ensure 3rd party services costs and planning are tracked and monitor their cost base.
  • Assist Project/Field Engineers on vessel readiness and during mob/demob activities.
  • Plan and coordinate activities in yards and at quaysides to deliver the assigned scope.
  • Ensure that project equipment is mobilized/demobilized in an efficient and timely fashion.
  • Supervise material tracking activity through the project's material tracker, and ensure equipment inspection, readiness, delivery, tracking & demobilisation.
  • Liaise with the in-country team to ensure operations are planned and run efficiently.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of the logistic support activities, (Freight forwarding, Shipping, OPL), through the in-country logistic organisation.
  • Support HSE initiatives/activities to ensure that the work will be done safely and efficiently.Provide input to the Project Operations Debrief Report and to the lessons learnt.


Tenders support

  • Identify the key Operations deliverables and establish the platform to support an effective tender submission through development of the schedule, cost comparisons, vessel and personnel operational requirements.
  • Liaise with the Pursuit team and the Tender Lead to develop the tender operational strategy.
  • Coordinate and consolidate all inputs from multiple disciplines (Engineering, SCM, Fabrication, Operations, etc⣦) to support the development of the operational planning.
  • Think out of the box to improve the offshore schedule and make the most of the constraints.
  • Define requirements and produce SOWs for 3rd party vessels and assets chartering/hiring.
  • Support the estimators in producing costing for the tender and its options.
  • Liaise with Engineering and VOMs to define vessels POBs and provide input to Estimating.
  • Throughout the tender ensure:- adherence to tendering procedures and processes and maintain traceability throughout the tender and post tender clarification and negotiation phases;- adherence to operations department ways of working to organise the activities and store the tender experience for future use/handover to project team
  • Support the Tender Lead with the preparation of presentations for gate reviews with the GPC&AP management team and Executives.
  • Support the tender lead and region with the post submission clarifications and negotiations.
  • Organise and host meetings with the disciplines to facilitate the offshore schedule review.
  • Identify and constantly update the key Operations related risks throughout the tender.

  • The successful candidates shall have/be:
  • Extensive offshore experience having worked onboard pipelay/construction vessels (ideally previously Field Engineer or similar).
  • Knowledge of subsea construction, onshore fabrication recommended.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to HSE and keen to promote safe practices.
  • Skilled in the co-ordination of multiple interfaces across functions.
  • A strong work ethic, willing to working in highly changeable environments, meeting tight deadlines whilst delivering high quality outcomes.
  • Committed to collaborative working in a multi-location team environment.
  • Mobility to travel to all international locations for short business trips or missions.
  • Fluent in English. Knowledge of French/Portuguese would be an advantage.

The Engineering Manager will have responsibility for the coordination and delivery of all engineering-linked QHSE activities through the GPC Engineering function and will have a passion and energy for change as well as proven capability to identify initiatives, implement ways of working and influence large teams.

Within the group the role will work with a diverse and multi-national team of engineers across GPC offices. The Engineering Manager will work closely with all disciplines within the Engineering function and the HSEQ function.

ROLE SYNOPSIS

Coordinate GPC QHSE engineering related matters with particular focus on:-

  • Educate our engineering teams to deliver the principles of the company vision.
  • Support disciplines to develop sustainable solutions applied to design.
  • Assess, identify and eliminate wasteful practices within our processes (LEAN)
  • Coordinate Knowledge Management across the function, evaluate Lessons Learned from projects and disciplines and proactively improve our way of working from this

  • Provide guidance on specific QHSE training needs for engineering personnel across the function

SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interface with discipline leads and project leads to ensure compliance across all activities.
  • Develop compliance auditing schedules for Engineering across disciplines and projects.
  • Manage internal and external QHSE engineering interfaces.
  • Ensure adequate QHSE engineering input to project activities.
  • Assist projects with external verification activities from clients and 3rdparties (e.g. DNV)
  • Review project's quality and HSE documentation for engineering activities
  • Ensure that standards of QHSE engineering services provided comply with corporate standards and client specifications along with appropriate legislation.
  • Assist Discipline Managers and PEM's in developing project engineering schedules to include all QHSE related project activities, including auditing
  • Maintain Functional Managers awareness of all matters related to QHSE
  • Organise/support PEC (Project Expertise Committee) assessments as required during the progress of the Projects' work.
  • Maintain regular communication with other business units on QHSE related matters and resource planning.
  • Proactively demonstrate safety leadership and ensure that all HSE concerns are addressed prior to work commencing.
  • Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are captured and actioned/mitigated.
  • Support project incidents technical investigation and promote corrective actions. Communicate lessons learned to other projects.

It is preferable for candidate to be degree qualified in Engineering, but demonstrable experience will also be considered.

  • Accountable for interpreting new contracts and workscope requirements, to ensure project deliverables and the right project organisation is adequately staffed, prepared, and all ancillary services are secured, whilst ensuring project risks are successfully identified with appropriate mitigation measures in place at the commencement of each project.
  • Represent the business externally and be responsible for communication with key clients at senior management level and establish long term client relationships.
