Job Purpose

Coordinate the maintenance and improvement of process control systems and safety systems in order to allow safe and efficient operation of the establishment.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Identify areas for recommended plant improvement and develop project work scopes and schedules for the Engineering Department.
  • Design and implement new process control systems and safety systems as part of capital projects.
  • Monitor CAPEX & OPEX budgets with respect to C&I activities, to ensure that they are performing effectively and cost effectively.
  • Take financial responsibility for small single function C&I Projects.
  • Act as Lead Engineer for site functional safety, development, maintenance, and support.
  • Review Safety Instrumented Systems, documentation and improve process control systems and safety systems to ensure compliance with international standards, including monitoring and reviewing records for proof tests carried out by maintenance personnel.
  • Produce key deliverables such as SIL verification documents, Safety Requirement Specifications and produce SIL verification calculations using SIL calculation software.
  • Specify, Test and Commission SIS and Control Systems upgrades.
  • Ensure instrumentation hazardous area design and installation is carried out in accordance with industry regulations.
  • Provide technical support to operations, including, diagnosis, root cause analysis, and implementation of remedial work required to ensure control system availability and integrity.
  • Provide technical support for the maintenance of site wide process control systems and safety systems. This includes all communications between sites, vendor equipment and remote access support.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to C&I Technicians.
  • Ensure that all documentation and certification is in place for the installed facilities and that they fully comply with the statutory legislative and regulatory requirements with respect to the C&I discipline.
  • Ensure upgrades to the Safety Management System associated with Control & Instrumentation are applicable and in line with any legislation change.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess an HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering field or demonstrate working towards.
  • Working towards attaining professional engineering institution membership and professional registration.
  • Understanding of the engineering involved in oil production and gas storage operations and control & instrumentation design standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision making, whilst being pro-active in achieving positive results.
  • Experience of working in plant operations and interfacing with operations personnel in the energy industry.
  • Engineering knowledge, training and experience required to diagnose control system faults through root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with the design, maintenance, and operation of Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety Standards IEC 61508, 61511 and Explosive Atmospheres BS EN 60079.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

  • Responsibility for all aspects of cost control of assigned projects including forecasting and commitment tracking of man hours, procurement activities and vessel operations
  • Provide project managers with advice and support in financially managing their projects
  • Ensure that SAP accurately reflects project costs and revenues to date, including any accruals or prepayments

Leading the design and development of optimized mooring systems for floating offshore wind structures.

Job Scope

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of optimized mooring system designs for permanent offshore floating structures, including but not limited to:

  • Development of floater models and RAOs in conjunction with the knowledge transfer partnership engineer
  • Design of the mooring system considering steel chain or synthetic mooring lines in line with industry codes and standards
  • Selection of appropriate anchor systems

The candidate will interface with the floating structure designer and other water column product designers to optimize the system design through provision of relevant analysis output and recommendations. Projects may be located globally with a focus on shallow water design.

The candidate will also be responsible for research and development or new product development activity in the field of mooring design. This will also include consolidation of best practice, lessons learned and development of digital tools where required.

The job scope may also include opportunity to:

  • Contribute to internal and external conferences
  • Participation to review committees or JIPs for codes and standard drafting

Main accountabilities:

  • Leading the delivery of the mooring design to project schedule and budget
  • Management of key interfaces in the water column to optimize the mooring design
  • Development of the mooring system design through R&D activity

Principal Piping Materials Engineer

Looking for Mechanical / Piping Materials Engineer to lead capital project execution for both the Air Separation and Process Gas Product Lines. You will provide technical expertise and specify piping, manual valves, inline items as well as complete painting and insulation specifications, and pressure test procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Piping Materials lead for major projects.
  • Control of project budgets (manhours and materials), schedule, quality of deliverables and reporting out on project status.
  • Proposal and project planning support. Preparing functional execution strategies and manhour estimates aligned to project scope, schedule and overall execution strategy.
  • Develop Piping Line Class Specifications when required, to suit specific service and project requirements.
  • Perform wall thickness calculations, when required, for pipe, fittings, flanges and other piping items in accordance with the applicable codes & standards.
  • Specify appropriate Piping Line Class Specifications on the Process & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Check and approve project work.
  • Specify and create requisition packages for manual valves, pipe, fittings, flanges, and other piping items such as steam traps, strainers, etc.
  • Review vendor offerings for pipe, fittings, flanges, valves and other piping items to determine technical acceptance.
  • Develop paint and insulation requirements/specifications for products and projects.
  • Review oxygen piping systems and determine material capability.
  • Develop pressure test guidelines and procedures for project construction.
  • Perform interdisciplinary vendor squad checks for specific piping material aspects, for example inline instrumentation, mechanical equipment.
  • Actively collaborate with internal teams and external third parties to meet project commitments, costs, and schedules.
  • Create and maintain internal specifications, work instructions and job aids.

Minimum Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent and a Chartered Engineer.
  • 8 to 10 years' experience as in industrial piping materials engineering. Some experience of Pipelines would also be beneficial.
  • Proven ability as lead specialist engineer on projects.
  • Experience coordinating workload and resources including interfacing with other multi-centre design offices.
  • Working knowledge of ASME B31.3 design code and supporting ASME component and ASTM material standards.
  • Working Knowledge of the Pressure Equipment Directive/CE Marking for European projects and related experience in working with Notified Bodies.
  • Working Knowledge of EN13480 and other design codes and Country specific requirements is a strong preference (for example ASME B31.1, B31.8, B31.12).
  • Working experience with software to perform wall thickness calculations such as Red Bag PCC is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Material Management process on projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred - experience of Hexagon SmartPlant tools (P&ID, Materials, Reference Data/3D)
  • Relevant design experience of ammonia, CO, CO2, hydrocarbons, hydrogen plant would be an advantage.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop the overall installation analysis scope package, including but not limited to Flexible / Umbilical / Cable Lay, Structure and Mooring installation.

Responsibility during the Project / Tender / FEED:

  • Prepare discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, technical specifications, and design reports as required.
  • Perform and review the OrcaFlex analysis confirming it adheres with the agreed design brief and basis. Ensure that QA/QC process is correctly followed in the team.
  • Maintain relevant project Interface and ensure alignment with other design engineering departments, Installation Method Engineers, SPS suppliers, Client, Engineering Managers, and Flexible / Umbilical Engineers.

Your profile

  • Bachelor in Naval Architecture, Mechanical / Structural / Civil / Hydrodynamic engineering. Master's degree or PhD preferred
  • Relevant experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent, with a preference in EPCI contractor or consultant predominantly performing construction and installation design.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of design techniques and installation analysis in OrcaFlex, with an understanding of applicable standard codes (e.g. DNVGL-ST-N001).

Within the Riser, Installation Analysis and Umbilical (RIAU) department, you will be responsible for supporting riser design activities including riser global analyses, installation analyses and packaging engineering (technical follow-up of the subcontracted components Strakes, Flexible joints, Buoyancy modules etc.). The qualified candidate will also contribute to the development of the discipline through various work on Technology Development and Continuous Improvements initiatives.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Support the riser design scope package, including but not limited to SCR, SLWR, SHR design package.
  • Coordinate a team of engineers (typically from 2 to 10) to meet the required project constraints on required engineering works, optimisation, workload, schedule etc.
  • Support various training and continuous improvements initiatives such as:
  • Develop internal tools, guidelines, templates and training material
  • Encourage knowledge sharing within the discipline.
  • Support trainees and less experienced engineers
  • Responsibility at the start of the Project / Tender / FEED:
  • Identify the scope of work, specifications, schedule and inter-discipline requirements.
  • Understand project/client expectations and gather applicable past lessons learnt.
  • Identity the required project interfaces and agree on a schedule and resource plan with discipline managers and project engineering manager.
  • Define the priorities for the team, set up the planning and convergence plan, set up the activity register, tracker for manhours budget, tracker for technical changes etc.
  • Organise KOM with the riser team, discipline managers, and project engineering manager.
  • Responsibility during the Project / Tender / FEED.
  • Prepare discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, technical specifications, and design reports as required.
  • Lead/Perform the in-place design analysis with OrcaFlex, as per design brief and basis. Produce and check the design documentation (either done internally by the company or externally) including feasibility reports, detailed in place design reports, specifications, material take-offs, etc. related to dynamic riser system / static jumper system.
  • Ensure that QA/QC process is correctly followed in the team and the designs are in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API 17J, DNVGL-ST-F201, API RP 2STD/2RD); Client Specifications, Scopes of Work, Internal Standard.
  • Ensure interface with Project team, other Engineering department (e.g. Welding and Materials), Quality, Pipeline Group, SCM etc. to ensure fabrication of the riser will be compliant with planned design.
  • For Riser components (e.g. Flexible Joint, Stress Joint, Buoyancy Modules, VIV strakes etc.), develop Technical Specification for Suppliers, and support the selection of the Supplier through technical bid evaluation. Once the Purchase Order is placed, ensure the progress and compliance of the supplier in close interface with SCM and Quality function.
  • Organise a regular meeting with the riser design team and maintain the action register. Issue regular reporting including document progress, resource mobilization planning, manhour tracking, and ensure technical changes with respect to the base scope are tracked properly.

  • A comprehensive knowledge of riser design
  • Relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent, with a preference in EPCI contractor or consultant predominantly performing in place / installation analyses of riser systems (rigid, flexible, or umbilical).
  • Experience in developing small engineering teams
  • Proficient in FEA modelling and you know well OrcaFlex software.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities;

  • Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager and leading the electrical scope on large megaprojects and proposals executed in the EMEA region.
  • Development of electrical single lines and power distribution systems for complex facilities
  • Performing electrical system studies including short circuit, load flow, transient motor start, protection relay coordination, and arc flash
  • Specifying and purchasing key electrical equipment such as medium and low voltage switchgears, transformers, VFD's, UPS systems, DC systems, harmonic filters, STATCOMS etc.
  • Specifying and procuring large induction and synchronous motors and starting systems including reduced voltage autotransformers, reactor start, electronic soft-start/VFD/LCI, etc.
  • Supervision of a team of Engineers on a project, plus mentoring junior Engineers within the team
  • Assigning tasks to the Electrical Design teams, providing supervision and technical expertise to ensure delivery against time and quality constraints.
  • Providing technical input to the ongoing development of company electrical design standards
  • Liaising with existing suppliers and outsourcing partners, seeking additional partners to add value to AP and customer projects.
  • Defining execution models for electrical engineering scope, monitoring performance and developing improved processes where appropriate based on lessons learned.

Skills/Qualifications Required;

  • An Electrical Engineering degree plus Chartered Engineer status, or actively pursuing Chartered status.
  • Proven experience in electrical power engineering in a design function within the process design industry
  • Good experience in a supervisory position with budget responsibility
  • Good understanding of large motors (induction and synchronous) in the range of 1-10MW. Experience with larger motors (10MW up).
  • Experience in specification and procurement of low, medium and high voltage Switchgear, Power transformers and Power electronics (LCI's, VSD's and Thyristor Controllers)
  • An ability to work with software packages for analysis of power systems (e.g. SKM Powertools or ETAP)
