Job description -
Our client a EPC company is looking for a construction engineer to join their team on a contract basis in their office in Basingstoke. The role is offered with an hourly rate inside IR35 & are looking for someone to start ASAP.

They operates a smartworking policy allowing personnel to work for up to 12 working days/month from home or a similar secure location and this 12 days can be available even where personnel are on leave for a portion of the month. As such they expect a minimum of 60% home working to be available for individuals who wish to take advantage of this.

Requirements -

  • Experience of technical and team leadership within a project environment working in the Oil and Gas Industry either as a Contractor or Oil Company Personnel.
  • Experience preferred in Upstream Engineering.
  • Technically competent in all aspects of electrical engineering
  • (Power Generation, Distribution).
  • Experience in Concept, Basic/FEED and PMC projects for
  • Oil & Gas (on-shore and off-shore).
  • Experience in development of power system studies and specifications (e.g. Load flow, short circuit, motor starting analysis); design of power HV & LV distribution systems for electrical networks; electrical equipment specifications/datasheets for main tagged equipment; substation, switch room and plant layout design; electrical surveys for O&G plants; preparation of requisitions for electrical equipment; technical appraisal of Vendor/EPIC bids for electrical equipment/ scope.
  • Fully conversant with IEC standards and "Oil & Gas" standard practices (e.g. IOGP).



Qualifications & experience -

  • Degree / Masters of Electrical Engineering.
  • Member of a relevant Institution, Preferred Chartered Eng.
  • Brownfield plant design
  • ETAP (basic knowledge as a minimum)

During the FEED and EPSCC Phase, the Service holder is in charge to:

* ensure that the engineering activities related to civil - structure and seismic design matters are performed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, Contextualized GS, with required level of quality, high HSE Standards, with respect of the Project environment, and within the agreed time schedule and cost; * prepare for issue the derogation requests to GS EP STR and CIV in ep-derog system, follow up the instruction by Head Office experts to ensure timely answer; * provide prompt responses to engineering queries and unexpected technical issues to FEED Contractors;
* support preparation and participate in technical reviews and audits (PR, DER, etc�£�), provide answers and ensure timely implementation of the findings in discipline;
* ensure reporting, highlighting critical issues to the Engineering Manager and proposing remedial actions

Job Purpose:

  • Drive complex contracts obligations and comply with the terms and conditions of the contract
  • Provide oversight and conduct complex Strategic Procurement contracts renewal and closure, and communicate the updates with relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate with and develop suppliers to create sustainable long-term relationships
  • Support internal and external audits where required
  • Identify opportunities to create synergies across the business to obtain increased value from the overall Procurement contract portfolio

4. Leadership/People Management

Education:

  • University educated to at least Bachelor's degree level

  • Although not essential, input into an engineering team developing a new build offshore platform designs.


Academic Requirements:

  • BSc / B.Eng. Degree in Engineering or HNC in relevant subjects.

The client is a tier 1 consultant EPC operating within both O&G and renewables. The candidate will have the primary responsibility for the technical delivery of one or more projects across pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design.

The successful candidate will have prior experience in management of engineering teams in the delivery of brownfield electrical infrastructure projects (132kV and below) to international (IEC) standards, preferably in an oil & gas environment.

    • Prepare, issue, and maintain a project design basis document. Changes to the document after issue should be considered changes to the scope of work.
    • Establish and communicate applicable regulatory requirements to engineering personnel and ensure compliance with those regulations.
  • Design Method
    • Monitor the quality of engineering specifications which define the work to be completed by others.
    • Monitor the quality of engineering product.
    • Initiate and own the preparation, issuance and update of a major equipment list throughout the engineering phase of the project.
    • Train, develop & mentor the team
  • Design Assurance
    • Implement quality assurance methods in accordance with the Quality Management System
    • Plan and implement reviews of the engineering method and products
    • Plan and implement a method to ensure the integrity of the overall design
  • Design Interfaces
    • Develop and implement methods to effectively interface all engineering activities including multiple offices, joint venture partners, third party engineering services and clients.
    • Develop and implement methods to effectively interface with (non-engineering) third parties on the project, including Project Management, HSE Management, Quality Management, Procurement & Materials Management, Information Management, Project Controls Management, Construction Management, Licensors, Suppliers and Subcontractors.
    • Assist in the preparation of bid packages, purchase orders and subcontracts for equipment and bulk items by preparing technical requisition packages and technical evaluations.

  • Demonstratable flexibility and ability to adapt to changing project-related priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work within required deadlines.
  • Ability to works things through with clients to resolve issues, including conflicting demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts with other groups.
  • Awareness of environmental and sustainability issues.
  • Member of IET or equivalent.
