Shift Supervisor


We are looking for a permanent Shift Supervisor for an Oil and Gas client based in Hertfordshire. This is to work on a downstream oil project. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and for safety regulations live (or be willing to live) within 45 minutes of Hertfordshire.


As one of a team of 6 Shift Supervisors at our oil terminal, you will ensure the safe handling of all fuels and additives received, stored and distributed at the terminal, in line with our company standards safety standards and legislation. You will also support the maintenance of plant and equipment ensuring integrity management standards are adhered to.

Key accountabilities As the Shift Supervisor you will:

- Lead the day-to-day operation of the terminal, supervising a
small team of operations and maintenance colleagues
- Be accountable for the safety and well-being of all on-site
personnel, whilst on shift
- Adhere to all health, safety, environmental and security
requirements within the terminal
- Operate a computerised control room governing the flow of fuel
in and out of the terminal
- Ensure stock accounting deadlines and systems are
maintained and product quality standards are met
- Ensure the safe condition and operation of plant and equipment
- Prepare and issue Permits To Work for contractors working on
- Participate in and lead terminal safety and operations meetings
- Be initial on-scene incident commander in the unlikely event of
an emergency
- Work a rotating shift pattern including nights and weekends

Essential education:

- 5 GCSEs or equivalent, Grade C or above including Maths and

Essential experience and job requirements:
- A passion for maintaining and improving safety standards
- Energy, enthusiasm, initiative and a can-do mentality
- Strong communication skills and experience of dealing with a
diverse range of people
- Experience of working in a hazardous process industry
- Both on the plant and in a control room environment
- Ability to work within a small team in a 24/7 365 day per year
- Supervisory experience including Control of Work / Permit to
Work systems
- Safety and environmental risk and legislation awareness
- Ability to assess and document safety risks, mitigation
measures and procedures
- Knowledge of IT systems used within a process
industry/logistics environment
- Due to safety requirements, the ideal candidate will be located
within a 45 minute commute of Hertfordshire
