Purpose

You will provide electrical engineering services on large or mega projects to our client and its customers', including technical support and supervision within the electrical engineering team.

Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must have a strong understanding of power system fundamentals, including sequential components, per unit, harmonics, transformers, and fault analysis.
  • Good understanding of traditional generation and inverter-based generation.
  • Conduct engineering analysis, perform fault current calculations, protection device coordination studies; present to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with client and other P&C (protection & control) engineers, other departments, contractors, and vendors.
  • Experienced in writing protection specifications and develop relay settings/size protection devices for the protection of substation buses, power and distribution transformers, substation and line capacitor banks, and distribution lines.
  • Propose solutions to open-ended challenges; Provide informal mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Actively participate in ongoing projects that include230kV transmission lines and GIS substations with IEC 81850 based power system automation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy; and a willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
  • Manage electrical engineering services that meet our client', its customers' and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
  • Manage electrical engineering project requirements.
  • Manage electrical engineering services such as:
  • participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and comply with required checking procedures;
  • ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes;
  • provide advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, oversee requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase order preparation.
  • Act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects.
  • If responsible for a team:
  • outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress; and
  • ensure the required services meet our client, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
  • Proactively resolve any discrepancies between our client and its Customer's requirements.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
  • If required, assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team.
  • Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.


Qualifications:
Qualifications:

  • A recognized and relevant engineering degree.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering; management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent.
  • P.E. preferred
