Mine / Tailings Development Engineer

Our client who is a leading Oil and Gas company are currently looking for 2 Mine / Tailings Development Engineers on a long term contract basis FIFO from Calgary or Edmonton


Under the direction of the mine and tailings projects development leads the work will include providing design support using a mine planning software package, translating strategic long range project plans into summary documents to support the project development process along with support work in the generation of Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinating project deliverable activities and maintaining tracking metrics
  • Coordinating construction milestones to short range execution groups, compiling project translation documents to inform short range and operations project customers of project deliverables
  • Maintaining stewardship of project milestones with business planning, budgetary and short range customers.


Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in either Mining or Civil Engineering
  • 2 - 5 years' experience in mining/tailings or large earth moving environment combined with support roles in project management/execution.
  • Computer skills include Microsoft office products and Cad Software.
  • Minescape mine planning software.

RELOCATE TO CANADA - Shift Supervisor - Mine Equipment Maintenance

Our client is offering highly competitive relocation package (Visas, Relocation expenses, housing allowance etc.) for the right candidate. Relocation is required to Fort McMurray, Alberta where the position is based.

The Company

You will be working for a leading Canadian oil and gas company who are a leading player in the Canadian Oil Sands projects. They are investing heavily in new projects and new technology and are widely seen to be one of Canada's most attractive companies to work for.

The Job

Managing a team of multi skilled individuals, you will be responsible for ensuring mining equipment is kept well maintained and operational whilst following adherence to appropriate QSHE policies. You will be working with the planning and scheduling teams for planned maintenance activities as well as performing necessary audits and incident reports.

The Individual

You will have extensive experience working within the mining sector including time spent in a superintendent/supervisory position. Six or more years of leadership experience mobile maintenance or fixed plant maintenance or operations. Ideally you will have worked in a unionised environment. Engineering degree or technical diploma/certificate is preferred, however, relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

The Schedule

The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts). If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory

Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible applicants

The Company

The Job

Managing a team of around 20 people of multi skilled specialists, you will be responsible for ensuring mining operations such as bulk excavation, soil salvage, dyke construction and road building for heavy haulage are carried out efficiently and safely. You will be working with the Mining Operations Manager to monitor shovel pits, placement areas and haul roads and ensure necessary resources are assigned to ensure production targets are met.

The Individual

You will have extensive experience working within the mining sector including time spent in a superintendent/supervisory position focused on managing mining operations. At least eight years of heavy equipment operating experience. Mining engineers with practical field experience as a front line leader will also be considered. Computer proficiency, specifically in Modular Mining

Site Administrator

In the role of Site Administrator, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Calendar management support
  • Meeting room set up for Directors and GM's
  • Travel booking for Directors and GM's
  • Create and maintain documents (LiveLink system)
  • Assist with preparation and day of tasks for workshops
  • Expense management (company Visa's)
  • Assist in the creation of purchase orders through SAP
  • Assist with the allocation of office space, assist with office moves
  • Supply ordering
  • Maintain email distribution lists (Outlook)


Additional responsibilities for a site based role:

  • Assist with vehicle pass requests
  • Manage the scheduling of regular maintenance for 3 fleet vehicles, and maintain the sign out sheets for the vehicles
  • Other site-based administrative duties as required
