Key Accountabilities

  • Scope and develop problems/opportunities into plant changes.
  • Develop basic process and mechanical deliverables and adhere to the APEGA Professional Management Plan for these deliverables.
  • Work with engineering teams to deliver more complex process/mechanical deliverables as well as incorporate instrumentation, electrical, automation, civil, fixed mechanical, rotating mechanical and structural considerations into solutions.
  • Manage engineering changes leveraging the MMP and Tier 1 project processes, including scope, schedule, and budget
  • Coordinate multidiscipline teams, engineering and construction activities related to engineering changes
  • Building Team Culture - Leverage team knowledge and promote knowledge sharing and development within the team.
  • Prioritizing and Allocating Work - Understand relative work priorities, delegate work as appropriate, manage competing demands for resources..
  • Ability to lead simple hazard assessments for small changes and ability to participate in HAZOP for larger changes.
  • Ability to generate simple isometrics and assess support using good engineering practice, knowledge of when quantitative stress analysis is required, ability to select piping materials using line class methods, and determine hydrotest pressures.
  • Ability to perform simple hydraulics and line sizing calculations.
  • Familiarity with basic pump types and selection and typical considerations including NPSH requirements.
  • Understanding of DCS and SIS process control systems, understanding of standard instrumentation and communications methods including 4-20 mA and MODBUS protocalls.
  • Understanding of Electrical Heat Trace design including SR and MI as well as motor control practices (VFD and synchronous motor operation).
  • Understanding of Alberta Building Code requirements.
  • Understanding of Civil and Structural Engineering requirements in changes.



Qualifications:

  • Recognized degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • APEGA Registered Professional Engineer or E.I.T.
  • 3 years' experience preferably in SAGD, Heavy Oil, Conventional Oil & Gas.
  • Experience and ability to work within a team-oriented and diverse cultural environment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills

Project Cost Estimator

Our client, a large Oil & Gas organization is looking to add a Technical Cost Estimator to their team for a 1 year independent contract based in Fort McMurray. This position is local, therefore, no Fly in Fly out is provided. The individual would have to be based in or around Fort McMurray.

The Position Itself


Reporting to the Estimating Manager, this Individual will be responsible for cost estimating projects within the Project Resources, which includes new construction and sustaining projects. The scope of work includes being responsible for roll up discipline estimates into the main summary sheets, benchmark with other projects, run CEC benchmarking tool and be proficient in presenting their scope of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the estimates produced adhere to the estimating standards and procedures as outlined by the PC Governance and those established in the organization
  • Challenge project teams for alternatives to improve project performance, reduce project costs
  • Provide mentoring / guidance to other team members and extended teams.
  • Work alongside EPC estimators and extended estimating teams.
  • Support and participate in the development of a cohesive estimating team and support strong relationships with other groups such as the EP Contractor, Construction, contract resources and other stakeholders related to the project
  • Understand all levels of estimates: Pre-Scoping, Scoping, stage 2 and FEED.
  • Must be able to work on estimates for new construction, sustaining projects and for field turnaround type projects.
  • Ensure accurate and timely estimates are delivered on the agreed upon dates.


Key Qualifications

  • 5 - 10 years of experience within the Oil & Gas Industry
  • CEC Benchmarking experience
  • Knowledgeable in Aspen-tech (k-Base) and WinEst estimating programs
  • Must be experienced in both brownfield and greenfield projects
  • knowledgeable in civil, structural, piping, equipment, electrical, I&C and EHT disciplines.

Maintenance Planner / Scheduler

Our client who is a leading Oil and Gas Operator are currently looking for a Maintenance Scheduler / Planner on a long term contract basis, FIFO from AB or BC this will be a 14/14 Rotation.

The Successful candidate will be the liaison with all site personnel to ensure that right work is being done at the right time using the right resources in the safest, most fiscally responsible and efficient manner. As part of the Maintenance Planning Team you will support the overall Planning and Scheduling activities as well as provide coverage as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform the scheduling functions for Maintenance using the Maintenance Strategy and its tools and procedures.
  • Provide coverage support for Planners and Schedulers as required
  • Ensures the successful ongoing operations and maintenance of facilities.
  • Responsible for scheduling all maintenance work at production and support facilities.
  • Ensures the daily work status is captures and next day's schedule is reviewed and communicated with both operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Communicates with service providers to ensure their availability to meet the schedule needs.
  • Ensures work plans are completed in a timely manner, material is on-hand and the job is ready to be scheduled.



MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years' experience as a Red Seal Trade Journeyman
  • Understanding of the job functions of all the trades (Pipefitter, Instrumentation, Electrician, Millwright, etc)
  • 5 - 7 years' experience in Planning and Scheduling
  • 5 years' experience in a maintenance position
  • 10 years' experience in the oil and gas industry
  • SAP experience
  • GWOS - Graphical Work Order Scheduler v6 (Prometheus/SAP) experience
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)



NICE TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Scheduling Certification
  • MMP Designation (Maintenance Management Professional)
  • Experience using Primavera P6

Job Description:
As the Site Administrator, you will be reporting to the Steam Chief Operations Manager by managing front counter, phone and email inquiries from contractor and vendors daily. You will work at our client's facility South of Fort McMurray on a 5/2 rotation (Monday-Friday).


Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for entering data on databases Siteview and Maximo
  • Participate in initial CS&U activities
  • Utilize and develop training manuals, Safe Operating practices and procedures
  • Performing safe start-up and shut down of equipment by following proper procedures.
  • Performing Safety checks on equipment, including conducting and completing safe work permits, reports and investigations.
  • Troubleshooting equipment problems and initiating repair notifications


Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years' experience in a related role
  • Minimum of Grade 12 diploma
  • Computer and Analytical Skills
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Geotechnical Engineer FIFO

Geotechnical Engineer

  • Experience with civil engineering and construction oversight within an operating mine, including construction oversight; mine waste and tailings design;
  • Understanding of soil mechanics and rock mechanics; slope stability analysis; seepage analysis;
  • Design of large scale construction features for mining sites (tailings dam and containment structures; roads and pipelines; waste storage; ore stockpiles; reclamation);
  • Proficient in mining software (including MineScape; MineSight; AutoCAD; Geo-Slope); data analysis; communication skills; and report writing ability.



Our current client is a major mining company and the successful candidate will be working on a team of professionals in an operating Mine facility.

Major Responsibilities

  • Work onsite - providing geotechnical engineer support for construction and ensure quality work is being followed to specifications
  • Provide geotechnical engineering support to mine waste and tailings management projects
  • Carry out on-site engineering data analyses and determine appropriate actions for follow-up
  • Carry out geotechnical investigations, instrument installation, and construction quality assurance for dams; roads; building and other mine site infrastructure
  • Assist with planning and supervising geotechnical subsurface investigations
  • Assist with writing geotechnical reports and technical communications;
  • Provide support to senior geotechnical engineer / geotechnical manager



Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (geotechnical, civil or a related field)
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • 2 to 10 years of experience (preference given to Oil & Gas [Oil Sands] experience in large civil earthworks construction mining related projects, which include: field construction, performance monitoring, construction quality assurance, inspection and testing)
  • Perform field and environmental investigations for Gas or Oil exploration and construction development projects
  • Proficient in engineering software (Geo-Slope; MineScape; AutoCAD; Microsoft Office)
  • Skilled in data interpretation; analysis and correlation
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a small team setting; and foster effective working relationships with their peers
  • Previous experience in Oil Sands operations will be an asset.
