Head of Subsurface Operations - Qatar

Responsibilities:

- Plan, coordinate and manage subsurface activities with primary focus on development drilling within the Surveillance and Well Operations Division.

- Development and redevelopment of Mid Jurassic reservoirs and development of Khuff reservoir (300 wells).

- Maximize the economic recovery of the currently developed reserves and the discovered undeveloped reserves via sound engineering practices, optimum resource management and fit-for-purpose technology application.

- Manage, supervise, authorize, and approve the activities of the Subsurface Operations.

- Lead QA/QC integrated geosciences and petrophysics economics analysis and recommendation used for developing well prognoses (comprehensive drilling and completion plan/program for each well).

- Workover Operation: Collaborate with Operation and Surveillance sections for developing workover proposals in Geo/Reservoir Eng/Petrophysical aspects.

Experience needed:

- Minimum of 15 years work experience in the upstream Oil & Gas exploration, development and production businesses. This must include a minimum of 10 years direct technical/operational experience in subsurface field development and 3-5 years experience of team supervision.

- Broad technical experience is required in the fundamental areas of Geosciences, Petroleum / Reservoir Engineering and Petrophysics for field development.

Senior Petroleum Engineer

We are currently working with a well established and expansion focused E&P business who are in the process of expanding their in-country presence. Due to this continued growth, a need has arisen within the business to add a highly experienced Petroleum Engineer to their team to assist with the ongoing and upcoming projects.

In this position, you will report directly into the Head of subsurface and be responsible for Stewarding and perform technical supervision of petroleum engineering activities including all aspects of well completion, workover and rigless well work (from job design to on-site implementation); well surveillance, well/field network performance modelling /optimization and reservoir management activities. Key challenges will include:

  • Performing technical supervision of well/surface network modelling and updating work including artificial lift design and troubleshooting for field performance optimization
  • Working on the longer term 5 year business plan and preparing the well plans
  • Support Geologist and Geophysicist in estimating original fluids in place by deterministic and probabilistic methods.

Suitable candidates will be a driven, autonomous, self-motivated drilling professional who is passionate and hungry to succeed, with a good command of the English language and passion for safety.

You must have at least 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years solid waterflooding experience.

You must also have at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Petroplan are looking to recruit a Planning and Scheduling Head to work in the UAE.

  • BSc or equivalent in an Engineering Discipline. Preferably Certified PMP or equivalent professional association.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in project engineering, of which 8 years in project planning of Oil and Gas industry with at least 3 years at supervisory level.
  • Expert in planning and scheduling of large complex projects. Expert level working knowledge in Primavera and associated applications.
  • Extensive working experience in project engineering, planning, scheduling & phasing, project control & monitoring, forecasting/trending, invoice verification, risk assessment, change management, review and analysis of variations/ Extension of Time claims.
  • Dynamic leadership qualities and project management skills with excellent track record in meeting project objectives successfully.
  • Extensive knowledge of contractual aspects applicable to project execution and construction industry with wide ranging experience in managing contractual disputes and arbitration issues will be advantageous.
  • Solid career progression with reputable Owner / Contractor organisations.

Main Job description:

  1. Develop, Implement and Maintain Project Planning Systems and Processes to ensure effective Project Scheduling, Monitoring & Control, Trending & Forecasting, Monitoring and Control of Progress Performance, Reporting, Invoice verification, Resource Planning, Progress phasing for Budget preparation, Change Management, EoT Claims and Risk Management.
  2. Supervise the proper and timely preparation of Project Master Plans and Schedules as well as the delivery of planning-related submissions as per Planning Guidelines and Procedures at various stages of the Project lifecycle. Monitor achievement of Gate approval for Projects in line with related KPI. Identify and resolve scheduling interfaces with other projects and/or operational activities to minimize conflict and delays.
  3. Lead the development and update of internal Management Reports and Plans, namely PEPS Monthly Reports & Presentations, Project Master Plans, Quarterly Corporate Performance Report, Annual Business plan, Division/ Departmental Reports, Progress Variance analysis, CLT KPIs and Reporting, MD Office and Emiri Diwan Reports etc. Ensure that proper updating of all Project data is maintained in ERP platforms like SAP and Primavera to facilitate automatic reporting and analysis.
  4. Lead the development and update of an Integrated Resource Planning system to plan the requirement of resources as per the Master Plans in Primavera and optimize the utilization of the available resources across various projects under PEPS.
  5. Develop standardized templates and specific inputs to Tender Documents (Administration Instructions, Contract Execution Plan -Appendix D & H) in line with Policies and Procedures taking into consideration approved Lessons Learnt.

This role is responsible for the asset management function and supports the Assistant Manager in ensuring these assets are operated within a defined strategic and operational performance range, with focus on CAPEX and OPEX, investment versus return and within the parameters defined.

Coordinates activities to analysis and improve the strategy, operational performance and assists in the development of long-term plan and annual budget for assigned Downstream assets.

To contribute in preparation of analysis, strategies, financial reporting and performance reports for management meetings and representation in technical and commercial committees.

Preparation of briefings, reports and presentations to facilitate decision making of the board members in the JVs, by analyzing various data and information and submit recommendations.

Perform fiscal reporting and planning to analyze margins and performance to direct proper optimization and contribute to development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and competitor analysis for Downstream assets.


Experience & Skills
1. Must have minimum of 15 years of experience working on variety of roles at various capacities in oil & gas and downstream industry with key focus on technical, business and commercial activities.


2. Good understanding of discounted cash flow valuation methods and metrics such as NPV, IRR & financial metrics such as ROCE. Financial reporting and presentations to various levels of management.


3. Strong communication skills and proven decision making and problem solving skills. Good command of the English language is essential, both written and verbal.


4. Strong negotiations and interpersonal skills are required as the role will involve interaction to external companies and internal management.

Education

In this position, you will report directly into the Head of Drilling and be responsible for the running and maintenance of the Drilling Operations and making sure the operations are in line with the company procedures. You will be involved with ensuring that all Drilling activities are planned, scheduled and executed to achieve the agreed requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Key challenges will include:

  • Ensuring the team in the field are keeping to and maintaining the expected standards
  • Managing and working with the Health & Safety teams to ensure correct procedures are being followed
  • Training and mentoring more junior members of the operations

Suitable candidates will be a driven, autonomous, self-motivated drilling professional who is passionate and hungry to succeed, with a good command of the English language and passion for safety.
