Rotating Equipment Engineer
Role Synopsis
Reporting to the Lead Rotating Equipment Engineer, the Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) will:

  • Provide technical guidance and assurance to the Project, ensuring safe, consistent and cost effective application of Project, and regulatory codes and standards and good engineering practice.
  • Work with the relevant EPC Contractor during the late Execute Phase of the Project) in support of construction, commissioning and early operation phases, providing technical integrity assurance when resolving Site Technical Queries etc.


When required the incumbent will:

  • Work with machinery package suppliers to resolve issues;
  • Rigorously challenge design change but, when needed, prepare & progress the associated Management of Change (MOC).
  • Provide technical input to risk assessments, Management of Change reviews, and project reviews
  • Performance manage the Engineering Contractor to close out purchase orders from a technical perspective
  • Be expected to be involved in multi discipline activities outside of the core discipline.


Key Accountabilities

  • Assuring compliance with the relevant Project specifications, ETPs, OMS.
  • Ensures the Lead Rotating Machinery is consulted on key technical issues and appraises the appropriate Engineering Team Leaders in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to the design of Rotating Machinery included on the facility.
  • Evaluate requests for deviations or exemptions to the established specifications and standards. Submits & progresses ETP deviations as needed.
  • Performance manages the Engineering Contractor e.g. Code 1 or 4 documents to achieve the technical close out of purchase order
  • Contributes to the machinery community of practice, keeps abreast of industry developments in machinery and ensures that lessons learned are effectively transferred to and from projects.
  • As needed, leads the interfaces between Project Engineering, the engineering contractor, construction, commissioning, operations, etc.
  • Understands the Project priorities and works to achieve them.


Essential Education

  • Degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Chartered or Professional Engineer status.


Essential Experience & Job Requirements

  • Experience of working in major Projects environment.
  • Experience with system design and operation of mechanical rotating equipment packages ranging from process & utilities pumps through to compressors, generators and their associated drivers.
  • Pragmatic problem solver & decision maker, willing to challenge and ensure engineering value is delivered.
  • Track record of delivery and able to demonstrate effective project technical management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the project team, Contractors, suppliers.
  • Understanding and application of the GIS's & applicable industry standards for mechanical rotating equipment.


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in working in Engineering during the Execute stage of a Project.
  • Actively engages and respects contributions of others.
  • Be self-motivated with a willingness to learn from others and work with minimum direction.
  • Anticipates future situations and proactively plans to meet them.
  • Package FAT, Site construction, commissioning or operating/maintenance troubleshooting experience.

  • Have 1-3 years "360 recruitment" Oil & Gas / related experience within external recruitment (agency)
  • Proven track record in billing and business development
  • Be able to demonstrate good experience in developing and maintaining client and candidate relationships, preferably with passive candidates
  • Be resilient, determined, proactive and keen to challenge

  • Degree
  • Project services background (estimators, cost controllers, project engineers etc.) or Contracts / Supply chain background (contract managers, logistics managers, PSCM etc.) recruitment experience

Position Overview
The position is responsible for collating the information required to prepare the quarterly and annual headcount and payroll forecasts along with the submission of monthly headcount reporting data to shareholders. The role also works closely with the other Payroll Analyst supporting the running of the monthly payroll for UK and expatriate employees through an outsourced payroll service provider, ensuring all statutory reporting is completed and filed and the HR system is kept up to date with accurate employee and contractor information.
Key Duties

  • Prepare Annual Workforce Plan and monthly re-forecasts through the year in accordance with Finance and Planning deadlines.
  • Work with department Cost Centre Controllers and Asset Business Leads to ensure accurate headcount forecasting
  • Provide support with Monthly Headcount Tracking Report and any ad hoc headcount reporting requests as required
  • Collate and provide accurate monthly payroll information to the outsourced payroll service provider.
  • Collaborate with outsourced payroll service provider and outsourced expat taxation advisor to ensure correct treatment of expatriate payroll and benefits through UK payroll.
  • Process all statutory payments and legal withholding instructions.
  • Ensure all payroll reports are generated and received by nominated recipients within the deadline each month.
  • Collate and provide outsourced payroll provider with information for inclusion on P11D's and other year end tax related reports.
  • Collate information for statutory reporting to be prepared, checked and filed.
  • Related project work as required.
  • Provide advice on payroll queries to employees and HR Team where appropriate
  • Manage HR Management System (HRMS) data with New Starts, Promotions, Transfers and Leavers as well as any corresponding changes to the Performance Management module
  • Administer joiners, leavers and changes as required in HRMS (PeopleNet)
  • Systems expert for any support tickets that need raised in PeopleNet if any error messages/queries are raised by the wider team
  • Assist Pension & Benefits Specialist with Private Medical Insurance and Employers Liability Insurance information requests and renewals process
  • Provide on call support to Emergency Response rota
  • Provide support to HR projects and other HR areas as and when required


Education attainment & accreditation

  • Educated to Higher Level or equivalent
  • Working towards professional Payroll Management qualification advantageous.


Professional skills & experience

  • Technical knowledge of payroll and strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Meta4 PeopleNet experience or similar HR Management System knowledge advantageous.
  • Experience of UK and expatriate payrolls


Interpersonal skills & qualities
Numerate, accurate, with strong attention to detail. Ability to be self-directed, work on own initiative, prioritise and work within tight deadlines.
