Complex Training Specialist

Role synopsis
  • The design, development and executing of the Operating Area or Craft Team Annual Training Plan (ATP) with input from the Unit Operating Superintendent or Craft Maintenance Mangers.
  • Long-term Unit specific or Craft Strategy development and OSHA 1910 compliance.
  • Working with the entire Learning and Development Organization to audit and assess the capability needs of Whiting Business Unit; focusing on the training needs of our Operations and/or Craft Personnel to meet those capability requirements.

Key accountabilities
  • Lead the effort to develop a 3 to 5 year training strategy plan for the area complex or Craft line.
  • Work with employees to establish annual personal development plans; then use those plans to populate the Unit/Craft Annual Training Plan (ATP).
  • Leader of a Team of subject matter experts that help support development of training reference materials and procedures.
  • Project Manager for all consultants or external parties who support development of training reference materials and procedures.
  • Assess staffing needs for your assigned area based on attrition as well as training demands; assure that on-shift staffing is adequate to support scheduled training.
  • Track operations or craft overtime and absences to establish job qualification needs.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA required Safety Refresher Training
  • Assure 100% compliance with Operator 3 year re-certification with NO overdue OPQ Qualifications
  • Establishes and executes the annual training plan with goals and timeline to update operator training reference materials and operating procedures.
  • Single point of contact for Operations scheduling to ensure annual training plan goals and requirements are met.
  • Coordinates Supervisory personnel development skills training for the Asset team.
  • Coordinates process and technical training for the asset team (Recommended Good Practices).
  • Attends process specific training seminars or sessions to update unit personnel.
  • Review and implement self-directed training modules for all regulatory training and look for possibilities to expand self-directed training modules to unit specific training.
  • Provide the necessary skill training for the OS Field Operator to become a knowledgeable trainer; being able to train their respective Team members.
  • Coordinate with the all L&D Advisors to ensure consistency and sharing of best practices across the Whiting Business Unit.
  • Primary accountability for the upskilling of all Operations and Craft personnel including Supervisors.
  • Responsible for proctoring the qualification and re-qualification assessment process - written knowledge and field demonstration tests.
  • Manages performance feedback and the development of remediation plans for trainees; accountable for the completion of "probationary reports" for new hires until probationary period has expired.
  • Responsible for on-boarding ELT Personnel assigned to their Operating Area; including ELT delivery.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the Hourly Trainers assigned to their Operating Area.

Company Overview:

We are currently working with a US Based organization that provides refineries, gas processing and petrochemical plants a wide variety of catalyst services and products.

Position Summary:

The Plant Engineer primarily oversees the process within the Plant. The ideal candidate would be able to oversee, recommend, and implement new processes and utilization of operations and equipment. They will also be responsible for providing a wide array of engineering knowledge and skills for related projects, proposals, processes, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pre-approve and monitor jobs around the facility and make recommendations wherever need be
  • Works alongside various members of the team including, production manager, customer service, warehouse managers, sales, and other key personnel.
  • Maintain a visible daily presence to stay informed and assist in troubleshooting any issues that arise
  • Serves as the back-up for the Production Manager.
  • Must be leader in Plant Safety compliance and driving safe behavior within the operation.
  • Works very closely with Shift Supervisor's and Operators on a daily basis, and oversees the technical troubleshooting within the Plant.
  • Analyzes lab and production parameters and data to both resolve technical issues, and improve production.
  • Conducts well documented technical trials on the process and writes reports on these trials as needed.
  • Works closely with R&D team to develop new products and to improve existing products.
  • Perform support work and troubleshooting work in the pilot lab.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and planning sessions that involve Plant operations.
  • Works with accounting team to finalize monthly utility usage.
  • Be a key contributor on special projects and capital projects as assigned.
  • Involved in training process for newly hired Operators; will also train Shift Supervisors and A Operators on new technical processes and procedures as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; or equivalent combination of some education plus 2-3 years of experience.
  • 2-3 years operations experience; preferably in an Oil & Gas, Catalyst, or Chemical Manufacturing
  • Computer skills including but not limited to: Inventory Management System, Microsoft Suite, Outlook
  • Experience in ISO-9001 a plus.
  • Professional Engineer certification not required, but a plus.

The Facilities Projects Manager reports directly to the Vice President Engineering and will provide general Engineering, Procurement, Construction oversight and Operations support to the facility for all Capital Projects for both the Home Office and Site. Strong knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of equipment and systems within an LNG Plant is required. Responsibilities:

  • Position has responsibility for coordination of the Project technical activities, plans, cost controls and schedules. Has oversight of Contractor(s) engineering work and monitors work for compliance of applicable codes and specifications, accepted engineering practices and company requirements.
  • Responsibilities include oversight of Project general tasks and activities for engineering, procurement support and assistance, design, construction, project cost and schedule and handover to Operations.
  • The Facility Projects Manager is the lead technical representative for management of subcontractors and direct contractors for adherence to the project design and specification basis.
  • Provide company engineering design input to the subcontractors for adherence to LNG codes and other relevant standards.
  • Lead, supervise, and participate in a multi-discipline team of professionals that provide Company support, monitoring, reporting and project controls related to the project.
  • Participate in the oversight for development of engineering specifications and provide guidance and quality assurance in the procurement of materials, equipment and services to ensure conformity with sound engineering practice and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide supervision to the construction quality and adherence to specifications within a safe work environment of all the Contractors and subcontractors.

Education:

· A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required. A Professional Engineering License in good standing with the state of Texas or Louisiana is preferred.

Experience:

· Minimum of ten (10) years of LNG plant and/or natural gas process plant operations working experience within the oil and gas industry of which at least 4 years of experience in a similar position of responsibility and expertise in an operating LNG Liquefaction facility.

Overview;

  • Petroplan are seeking an experienced Maintenance / Reliability Engineer for a major petro-chem facility located in Louisiana, US.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the client operations are compliant with company and regulatory inspection requirements. Engineer is also responsible for establishing and support activities/programs aimed at ensuring the client achieves availability targets.
  • This position will establish and coordinate the reliability centered maintenance and risk based inspection management systems.
  • This position will act as the technical steward for all primary and ancillary facility processes, equipment (fixed and rotating) and metallurgy.
  • This position will provide leadership and discipline expertise to less experienced engineering, maintenance, and operations staff.


Desired Skills / Qualifications:

  • Graduate with a BS in Engineering (Mechanical Discipline preferred) required.
  • 6 years in the petrochemical industry of which at least 2 years of experience in a similar position of responsibility. Expertise in an operating LNG Liquefaction or similar (cryogenic) facilities.
  • Gas turbines experience required.
  • Application experience of reliability management systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve problems independent of vendors and superiors and have knowledge in theory, design, process control, instrumentation, safeguarding systems, vibration and noise control.
  • Possesses good oral and written communication skills. Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate and maintain the LNG receiving terminal.
  • Basic computer skills including project management, database, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing skills, and Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD).
  • Possesses good planning and organization shills and meets work deadlines.
