Quality Control Engineer

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas owner/operator organization is looking to add a Quality Engineer to their team. This is a 6 month contract to start, based in Edmonton.

The Quality Engineer is responsible for carrying out and coordinating various Quality Assurance and Quality Control verification activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the client Project Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Certification plans
  • Review and comment on Contractor Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, and fabrication procedures and other Quality documents
  • Manage interface with Project Supply Chain Quality Engineer
  • Perform Quality Assurance Audits/Reviews for Engineering Design, Procurement, Construction / Installation and Commissioning / Start-up activities
  • Organizing, planning, and supervision of all Contractor audits and inspection activities, inclusive of equipment
  • Manage Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Inspection for Construction / Installation activities
  • Monitor and manage use of Project Action tracking system
  • Assist project Quality Manager in monitoring and troubleshooting use of project procedures and project quality management activities


Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • P.ENG or eligibility for registration
  • Post secondary education in a relevant field of study
  • 1 - 3 years of quality coordination experience with the Energy Sector
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Able to multitask and prioritize.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • SAP exposure is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Mine Equipment Maintenance Planner

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas owner/operator organization is looking to add a Mine Equipment Maintenance Planner to add to their Calgary team.

This is a long term full time contract based in Downtown Calgary, with a few occasional site visits.

Job Overview:

The individual will be reporting directly to the Reliability Development Lead, focusing specifically within mine heavy equipment planning, equipment productivity, shovels etc.

Ideally looking for an individual with:

  • 5 - 10 years of experience within the Mining / Oil Sands Sector.
  • Post Secondary Education in mining or geological engineering
  • A strong understanding of mine production, planning metrics and a grasp of civil earthwork projects.
  • Long Range or Short Range planning exposure would be an asset
  • Tailings Exposure would be an asset

Reliability Engineer

Our client, a leading Midstream Oil & Gas organization is looking to add a Reliability Engineer to their team. This is a 1 year independent contract based in downtown Edmonton.

Within the Liquid Pipelines Unit, this individual will:

  • Identify and support the implementation of predictive technology, evaluate data. Develop equipment maintenance plans.
  • Develop preventive maintenance procedures to provide effective and efficient solutions to improve reliability.
  • Participate in regulatory preventive maintenance system audits as deemed necessary by management.
  • Participate in the project management and engineering processes to ensure reliability concerns are addressed and supported.
  • Lead root cause failure analysis effort to determine failure modes.
  • Inspect new installations and equipment at vendor sites to identify and remedy possible reliability issues


Key Requirements

  • 2 - 4 years of reliability focused engineering experience within the Oil & Gas Industry
  • P.ENG or eligibility for certification
  • Post secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field of study
  • MS Office Proficiency
  • SAP knowledge & exposure is an asset

Job Overview

This Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Governance Manager and will assist in the assigned engineering design standards, equipment specifications, standardized designs, and construction specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring engineering design standards and equipment specifications meet compliance policy
  • Confirming engineering design standards and equipment specifications are available and understood by end users
  • Supporting engineering design standards and equipment specifications end users
  • Ensuring design standards and equipment specifications meet compliance policy
  • Assisting in the development of the annual review and update plan
  • Meeting scorecard objectives for completion of review and update activities
  • Coordinating review and update activities for assigned standards and specifications
  • Investigating and linking MP and LP project safety, design, cost and schedule learnings with standards and specifications
  • Understanding technical content and issues of assigned standards and providing support to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Utilizing Management of Change processes

Key Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering
  • P.ENG or eligibility to register
  • 4 - 7 years within an engineering role with exposure to technical governance standards
  • Coordinate reviews with a diverse team of internal and external individuals with competing objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate to a wide variety of departments, experts, and stakeholders
  • Works to deadlines, including motivating others to meet said deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software
  • Ability to work within the team and individually under minimal supervision
  • Strong problem solving and technical skills

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas owner/operator organization is looking to add a Site Technical Drafter to their team for a 1 year independent contract. This is a FIFO opportunity with a rotation of 4 days on, 3 days off.

Job Overview:

This individual will be providing drafting support for the District Engineering team for both Maintenance and Continuous Improvement projects. The Drafter will be proficient with P&ID's, piping (ISO's & 3D), structural, along with Electrical & Instrumentation drawings. Software to be utilized includes AutoCAD, AVEVA 3D, Bluebeam and Navisworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Updating CAD files from marked up hard-copies & PDF's
  • Updating 3D model based on completed scope with support from PM
  • Creating CAD drawings from vendor packages & scanned copies
  • Supporting MOC project close-outs - generating As-Built
  • Generating BOM from new/updated drawings
  • Managing document revisions


Key Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary Engineering Design and Drafting Technology Diploma
  • 5 years related experience within the Oil & Gas or Energy sector
  • AutoCAD, AVEVA, Navisworks Certification
  • Technical Drawing Literacy - Piping, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency
  • In depth understanding of documentation revision control and review/approval process

Turnaround Wireless Analyst

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas owner/operator organization is looking to add a Turnaround Wireless Analyst. This is a 3 month independent contract with a 7/7 FIFO rotation. The individual will work closely with the execution business to translate safety, fatigue, and productivity information throughout the turnaround project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

· Expected to liaison daily with contractors in safety and fatigue information management.
· Responsible for daily contractor performance meetings with the project execution managers to discuss trends and make recommendations
· Analyze project manpower trends and present to stakeholders in a comprehensive, complete and timely fashion.
· Support project stewardship including Identifying areas for improvement, communicating lessons learned, and preparation of value reports

Key Qualifications

· 1 - 2 years of experience in administration, turnaround exposure is highly desirable
· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required
· Oil and gas industry experience is desirable
· Business or technical degree or diploma is preferred
· Ability to successfully work under tight deadlines
· Strong numerical and analytical skills and understanding of cost control systems
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
· Database/ Live link experience preferred but not required

Materials & Inventory Managament Technician

Our client, a leading Oil & Gas owner/operator is looking to add a Materials Management & Inventory Technician to their team for a long term contract (expected duration of 2 years).

Job Overview

This position will report into the Doc Management/Inventory Control Manager here in Calgary but will required extensive travel to the Edson, Grande Prairie and Rainbow Lake areas. The individual has to be comfortable with a rotation that requires 80% or more travel.

The schedule for this role is tentatively 7 on, 7 off, Location Allowance will be provided for travel done outside of the standard home location.

This role will require clear communication and strong collaboration with Maintenance, Operational staff, Project teams, and Asset Retirement to name a few.

Key Responsibilities:

* Complete a full equipment inventory audit for Western Canada
* Frequent field visits capturing equipment information and location
* Validate current information within SAP (SEIM)
* Capture details on any missing equipment
* Lead the cleansing of master data from Standard development
* Data mining job books, MDR's
* Gather additional information based off inventory needs
* Other tasks to support the business as required

Key Requirements:

* 10 years of operational and or/technical background within Oil and Gas Materials Management
* Knowledge and understanding of asset classes, characteristics and processes
* SAP Plant Maintenance proficiency in relation to equipment inventory
* A valid class 5 Drivers License and a clean drivers abstract
* Safety tickets such as First Aid, H2S Alive, confined spaces are highly desirable.
* An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
* Legible handwriting
* Proficiency within Microsoft office
* Post-secondary education in a related field would be an asset
