Field Deployment Specialist

Position Description:

We are looking for a Field Deployment Specialist who will be based out of our Calgary office in Alberta. The role is to deploy DarkVision’s technology in a wide variety of different jobs across different well types and downhole applications in Alberta and more broadly in the North American market. You’ll be working with a wide variety of oil and gas operators, service companies, deployments systems and personnel and will be personally responsible for the successful execution of each job.

The most important characteristic of the successful candidate is that they are very hard-working and a self-starter. Also, the ability to travel and spend lots of time in the field is an absolute must in this particular role. You’ll be supported by our Operations and Engineering teams, but you’ll be the person on-site who’s responsible for the job itself along with communications to the customer.

Specific Skills Required: This particular role has a few key requirements that a successful candidate would have in order the hit the ground running and be able to get up to speed in a short period of time.

  • Wireline/Logging Experience: Experience deploying other logging technologies using wireline, tractor, coil and various other deployment methods. This would ideally be experience from North American deployments in the US or Canada.
  • Oil Field Service Experience: General experience with downhole equipment, well construction, completions etc. would be another important asset.
  • Technical Background: A technical or engineering background would be helpful in better understanding the technology and how it works, but not a hard requirement.

 

Responsibilities (depending on the candidate’s skills, experience and aptitude, there are a wide variety of potential responsibilities and key areas for contribution):

  • Everything & Anything: There will be a wide assortment of standard and not-so-standard tasks that you’ll be expected to complete, both inside and outside the typical business development umbrella. There’s an entrepreneurial side to the role, so no task will be either above or beneath you.
  • Deployments: Successfully deploy the technology in wells, including mobilization, rig-up, rig-down, communications with site personnel, service companies and ultimately oversee the deployment of the products in each customer’s well.
  • Travel: The successful candidate will travel primarily in Western Canada, but will also travel internationally, largely within North America to deploy the technology with various oil and gas operators. Travel is a key component of the job, and a flexible personal-life that can support a career where time away from home is the norm is an absolute must. If you don’t want to be out of town, you shouldn’t apply for this job.
  • Preparation for Jobs: Ensuring that tools, parts, trucks and critical equipment are checked, cleaned, calibrated and verified for each job is a natural part of deploying the technology. Taking care of the tools, fixing, cleaning, testing and refurbishing.
  • Communications: Quick, clear and effective communication with customers, site personnel and DarkVision staff are your responsibility to ensure deployments are successful and everyone has the information they need.  
  • Trouble-Shooting: Deploying new technology naturally comes with the necessity to troubleshoot new problems that arise on-site in real-time. You’ll be supported by the engineering and operations teams, but the ability to figure things out quickly, improvise and succeed under pressure will be critical to overall job success. The capacity to both anticipate and solve field problems is paramount.
  • Product Input & Feedback: Provide feedback and ideas on how to improve the product, technology and operational processes to increase efficiency, quality and scalability of the overall business. Feedback from the field is critical and will be incorporated directly into the engineering team to improve existing and future products.

Position Description:

We are looking for a Business Development professional who will be based out of our Calgary office in Alberta. The role itself could encompass a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities, depending on the successful applicant’s skill-set, aptitude, ability and experience. The primary objectives and responsibilities for the role are depicted in the sections below. In general, you’ll be working directly with DarkVision’s CEO on a wide variety of sales, marketing, product and business development tasks and projects.

The most important characteristic of the successful candidate is that they are very hard-working and a self-starter. Contracts & Sourcing Specialist

Our client, a leading owner/operator organization is looking to add a Contracts & Sourcing Specialist to their team for a 1 year independent contract in Calgary.

The Position


This individual will be playing an integral role in elevating the organization's requirement for commercial expertise with external suppliers and contractors while developing and maintaining seamless support with internal business partners/stakeholders. The scope of work covers developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating terms and conditions for governing agreements, negotiating commercial terms etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and expertise on commercial content and negotiation support to internal stakeholders for scope specific contract development and implementation
  • Support the development and on-going post-award contract management activities including dispute resolution, claims support, scope of work and compensation agreement amendments
  • Build internal stakeholder relationships to understand their SCM requirements and build fit for purpose strategies that mitigate risk, add value to the organization.
  • Selection of optimal master agreement (i.e. terms and conditions) template to govern the work to be awarded/contracted
  • Compilation of RFP documents, this requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders as well as fellow supply chain colleagues
  • Leading negotiation efforts on Contractor exceptions.
  • Track and report on upcoming contract expiries to ensure required agreements are negotiated and renewed prior to expiry


Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 - 10 years of supply chain experience within the Oil & Gas Industry, with previous exposure to upstream operations and production
  • Post Secondary education in Business, Supply Chain, Law or relevant field.
  • Significant experience in contract formation with a demonstrated ability to effectively use procurement and contracting knowledge to add value
  • Commercial experience/expertise, and strong negotiation planning skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contracting terms and conditions, clauses, scope of work etc.
  • Proficient in software such as (SAP, MS Office etc.)

Senior Electrical Engineer

Our client, a large midstream oil & gas organization is looking to add a Senior Electrical Engineer to their team for a 1 year independent contract based in Edmonton. This position is set to cover a maternity leave for the client, however, there is a possibility of extension afterwards for the right individual.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure ongoing safe and compliant performance of electrical infrastructure by providing creative and cost-effective solutions for non-routine design, construction, maintenance, operational and compliance issues to Operations, Projects, Asset Management, PCSLD and other groups.
  • Perform three-phase power system design and analysis using SKM software. This includes load flow and voltage drop calculations, impact of motor starting, fault analysis, short circuit protective coordination and arc flash hazard studies.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain protective relay settings for electrical equipment and their associated controls.
  • Identify project scenarios that require electrical system modelling for Power System Analysis to ensure proposed designs are operable under normal and abnormal conditions.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of protective relay settings for electrical equipment and their associated controls.
  • Conduct technical reviews of electrical design for LP/MP projects including equipment selection and equipment test reports, with a focus on safe and reliable electrical design.
  • Provide engineering support for the commissioning and startup of systems in the areas of electrical power infrastructure and power conversion applications including substation equipment, switchgear, protective relaying, medium voltage electrical power distribution etc.
  • Coordinate or guide in electrical failure analyses and investigations and recommend action plans to prevent similar failures in future. Review and provide expert advice on electrical failure analyses and investigations performed by others.


Must Have Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience within the Energy Industry
  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering is required
  • P.ENG certification is highly desirable
  • Previous substation equipment experience is highly desirable
  • SKM software proficiency

Instrumentation Planner

  • Responsible to support the Maintenance Planning Supervisor in the development, implementation and execution of the planning/scheduling processes and procedures.
    • Ensure that all safety requirements including permits and related safety documentation are included in the workorder planning process.
    • Ensure that all company and contractor manpower resources required to complete workorder tasks are fully defined in both number and duration.
    • Ensure that all materials, special tools and equipment as required to carryout the workorder activities are fully defined in the planning process.


Will also work closely with the Electrical and Mechanical planners to ensure coordination of Electrical and Mechanical work orders on the same equipment and/or systems.

  • Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of CPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility. Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, are to be reported so corrective actions can be taken.
  • Review all approved SAP notifications and prioritize based on safety, production and other operational requirements.
  • Utilize the SAP Workorder system to carryout detailed planning for maintenance tasks that will go into the plans.
  • Identify the preliminary start date for workorder activities based on predicted availability of all required resources.
  • Utilize the SAP Work Order system to carryout detailed planning work with particular focus on the safety aspects of these activities.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Leads on communicating work details and ensuring that all resources (manpower and materials) are captured in the workorder.
  • Ensure that all resources including manpower (company & contract), materials, special tools / equipment, are identified as part of the work order planning process.
  • Ensure that all safety requirements such as PPE, special procedures, LOTO, Isolations, scaffolding for safe access, etc are taken into account in the workorder planning process.
  • Develop and or update Instrumentation Predictive & Preventative Maintenance Routines as required.
  • Develop task lists for repetitive work to facilitate work order planning efficiency.
  • Explore the full functionality of the SAP PM system by participating in COP User Groups and seminars.


Establish and maintain thorough knowledge of the capabilities of external service provider

  • 10 years of Maintenance (Instrumentation) experience.
  • Journeyman certification is desirable
  • 10 years Oil &/or Gas field experience


Formal training and certification in SAP PM system is desirable

Technical Sales Engineer
Current vacancy in Alberta based company that designs and manufactures oil and gas processing equipment for both the Canadian and International marketplace. Product lines cover surface production equipment from wellhead to pipe line. My client specializes in packaged equipment for larger gas processing plants and petrochemical systems. The current role is for the Calgary sales office.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, qualify and secure sales opportunities for oil and gas processing equipment.
  • Develop, nurture and maintain close working relationships with the decision-makers in the assigned markets including consultants, operator/maintenance and contractors.
  • Influence and assist in preparing technical specifications for the engineering consultants on products.
  • Provide market intelligence to Inside Sales during quote preparation.
  • Follow up and close quotes issued by Inside Sales.
  • Update and maintain internal sales tracking system on a regular and frequent basis.
  • Develop and maintain project activity reports indicating status (i.e. pre-feasibility, budget, RFQ)
  • Assist in developing yearly sales forecasts.
  • Conduct product/process lunch and learn sessions to the appropriate engineering firms.
  • Work directly with represented manufacturers to obtain technical information, project pricing and special requirements.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 3 years demonstrated ability to successfully sell the processing equipment.
  • Technical education and background.
  • A thorough and demonstrated knowledge of the processes involved in the Oil & Gas market place (Conventional - upstream/midstream and SAGD)
  • Superior and effective communication skills both written and verbal.

Petroplan are currently recruiting a highly bespoke vacancy for an Ontario based engineering company. This company is part a global enterprise which employs over 15,000 people. We currently seek a Cooling Tower Engineer. For this role, the selected candidate will work alongside the Industrial Water Engineering group carrying out Project based assignments, this position will encompass Project Management, Sales Assistance, Estimations, Proposals and Planning.
For this position, the candidates can be based in Toronto ON, Edmonton AB or if required can work from home if highly experienced. For this position candidates at varying levels of seniority and experience will considered but a solid understanding of thermodynamics is essential.
Role Responsibilities:

  • Support product / development testing and design activities, and prepare product and design scopes.
  • Produce ratings and performance curves of thermal efficiencies to assist sales teams for proposals.
  • Produce thermal ratings for new and existing product lines.
  • Manages all project planning; i.e., clearly define scope and ensure clarity of project technical schedule and budget requirements, performs cash flow planning, manpower loading models; responsible for developing and maintaining required project records.
  • Prepare Bill of Material (BOM) for projects.
  • Review RFQ's and mechanical & structural design specifications to ensure they meet engineering and safety standards.
  • Works with or acts as Proposal Manager on customer requirements; i.e., reviews RFP (Request for Proposal) and specification, coordinates with sales and marketing to determine scope of work and is responsible for scope definition, prepares and/or approves all cost estimates, develops preliminary implementation plan, may assist in the estimating, proposal, and sales process, controls final negotiations on engineering/construction project.
  • This job does require a certain amount of travel as required.
  • Takes ownership to urgent issues in fast paced environments.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually on multifaceted tasks and projects.
  • Be detail oriented, and able to commit too and support a structured process to goal realization.


Required Qualifications:

  • P.Eng from either Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering discipline with equivalent industry experience
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and mechanical components working with Industrial Water systems and with higher emphasis in Industrial Cooling Towers.
  • 5 years industry experience in Cooling Tower Engineering, Heat Transfer Fluid Systems, Project Management, and Project Estimation.
  • A solid understanding of technical drawings and software packages such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

As Engineering Lead, successful candidates will be responsible for the overall production process of Liner Hangers and Packer products. This includes: Liner Hangers, Liner Packers, Open Hole Packers, Cemented Liner Hangers, Seal Bore Packers etc. for retrievable or permanent use in cemented, open-hole, and thermal applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for product design, testing and manufacturing process. This involves initial design and prototyping, calculation overview, design for manufacturing, qualification, documentation, R&D and manufacturing.
  • Review and maintain quality standards in all processes and documentation ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Verify existing test methods and develop new efficient tools and tests.
  • Oversee all staff involved in manufacturing and design process for specific products to ensure quality standards are met and adherence to production schedules.
  • Guide and assist team under product banner, such as R&D, Design, Sales and Manufacturing.
