Primary purpose of job

Collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams and peers to provide geophysical support for all exploration activities and studies across our International non-operated assets.

Activities will include new venture opportunity screening, prospect & lead evaluation, drilling preparation & monitoring and seismic studies to both QA operators work and to provide technical recommendations for venture decisions and management approval.

Additional responsibilities include JV Asset Coordination and representation of the company in all technical meetings fostering communication and knowledge exchange, and providing support for improvement to the assets/regions assigned.

Experience & Skills

* Oil/gas finder with 10 years experience as geophysical explorer in international oil companies.

* Proven track record of prospect maturation and risking.

* Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, projects and ventures.

* A keen explorer who enjoys working within a close team of professionals to mature exploration projects and provide clear recommendations for the company and JV.

* An ability to enthuse the team and to mentor younger staff as well as to reach across different disciplines.

* Should have demonstrable experience in oil and natural gas exploration and development projects in a wide range of sedimentary basins and tectonic settings globally, pre and post salt basins, basin and play led exploration from inception to prospect generation and drill-ready well locations.

* Must be able to work in a non-operated capacity demonstrating communication skills fundamental to preserving credibility and influencing our operating JV partners.

* Should be abreast of the latest technological advancements in the industry.

Education

* M.Sc. in a core Geoscience subject as a minimum

Supervise Budget Control section providing budget control services including but not limited to CAPEX/OPEX Budgets & AFEs, Invoice Processing and Asset Capitalization

  • Develop and implement effective cost budget control strategies to ensure compliance with Departmental Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Act as Budget Focal Point & address / resolve all queries of Finance Department including external auditors.
  • Ensure smooth interface with engineering departments in preparation, endorsement, approval and administration of CAPEX, OPEX Budgets & AFEs.
  • Review the Annual Budget, Budget Revisions/Supplementary Budget and ensure appropriate justification.
  • Challenge budget to ensure it adequate and mapped with Project Execution Program.
  • Analyze cost budget data and perform "WHAT-IF" Expenditure trend to identify potential under/overruns and provide "Early Warning" to line supervisor of variances beyond acceptable parameters with best solution for mitigation.
  • Provide expert, professional and timely solutions to Projects on all matters related to budgets, AFE administration and invoice processing.
  • Ensure all activities are completed within agreed KPIs.
  • Ensure that all the financial & technical requirements are met for closeout of completed Projects, including completeness of Statement of Final Account and timely Asset Capitalization.
  • Lead continuous improvement team to identify areas of opportunity that can result in cost/time savings, complexity reduction and propose solutions to realize these benefits.
  • Actively participate in coaching / development of Qatari Nationals.


Qualifications and skills

  • A university/college degree in financial accounting and/or CPA,CMA,ACCA.
  • At least 12 years relevant experience in project cost budget control. Experience in Oil & Gas industry is preferable.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manages multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Performs routine duties independently and refers to Line Supervisors on non-routine work.
  • Substantial working knowledge in SAP essential.

Education

  • Support the technician assessment programme by mentoring and coaching technicians in readiness for or as a gap - closure to the assessment activity.
  • Perform competency task assessments and record the outcome in the iCan2 data base.
  • Report identified competency gaps to Competency Lead & Team Leader promptly to facilitate intervention where appropriate.
  • Author of Discipline specific Assessment Plans.
  • Report behavioral issues to Team Leader promptly to facilitate intervention.
  • Issue weekly reports to Team Leader & Competency Lead to ensure the assessment programme, schedule and assessment opportunities are effectively managed.

  • Minimum of twenty years oil and gas related discipline specific experience.
