Controls and Instrumentation Engineer

My client is an industry leader in instrumentation, controls systems and equipment utilized within Petrochemicals, Refineries and process facilities. They are looking to bring on an experienced engineer to join the team to work at one of their client's facilities located in Northern Alabama. This role will start out as a contract but could extend into a long-term contract or potential to transfer to permanent status. Please see the details below regarding the responsibilities and requirements.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide preventative and corrective maintenance on systems, equipment, and products
  • Conduct various function testing on equipment/systems for troubleshooting
  • Answer technical questions and concerns of the clients
  • Proficient with hardware and software components of DCS systems
  • Will act as the face of the company while on site with a heavy customer service focus
  • Identify areas of concern, risk, and/or improvement
  • Manage various task and duties at any given time
  • Must maintain thorough knowledge, products, and services of the client
  • Ability to travel overnight and be on a 24 hour call at times

Education/Experience:

  • S. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related
  • Work experience can be supplemented in lieu of degree
  • 5 years of related experience in the design and implementation of process control systems.
  • Must have knowledge of basic control system hardware, software, and applications
  • Strong communication skills

Wellsite Geologist

Petroplan is actively recruiting for a Wellsite Geologist for a deepwater Gulf of Mexico project.

This contract opportunity is an offshore role working on a 14/14 rotation scedule.


The primary role of the Wellsite Geologist is to monitor, QC and integrate all the geological data being collected while drilling, i.e. cutting descriptions, LWD data, wireline log data, dynamic drilling data etc., effectively managing geological data and working alongside the personnel that supply it, i.e. Mudloggers and LWD Engineers, and working with Drilling staff in communicating well objectives to service personnel as a whole.

The Wellsite Geologist will be comparing results with the offset well data to build an integrated understanding of the stratigraphy, i.e. reservoir and overburden. Critically, on sub salt drilling projects, they also have the added responsibility as the first line in the monitoring of subsurface pore pressure and wellbore stability via cuttings, log observations and drilling parameters. They are also the main contact between the rig and the sub-surface team in town and contribute to routine and ad-hoc meetings and communication, standard deliverables and logistical planning.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 10 years' experience as a wellsite geologist
  • 5 years' experience in deepwater gulf of Mexico
  • Offshore certification required for this role
  • Prior experience working for an oil and gas company in a similar capacity


Daily deliverables include:
* Daily Geological Report
* Composite Log (product of the integration of LWD, mudlog data and interpretation)
* QC mudlogging and LWD deliverables

*Wellsite Geologists contribute to final end-of-well reporting and other deliverables and essentially draft sections of these whilst working offshore also.*

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to assigned manager / team
  • Manage diary and prepare expense reimbursements for assigned manager(s)
  • Coordinate Project travel arrangements (air, hotel, visas etc.)
  • Assist with visa, accommodation, local information etc. for visitors
  • Coordinate and maintain project lists for vacation, leave, events etc.
  • Prepare documents, reports, presentations and translations as requested by supervisor(s)

Education:

  • Ideally some college education, or other relevant diploma, education or background
  • Diploma with a technical focus is an advantage
  • Relevant experience may replace formal education Experience
  • Preferably 2-3 years of relevant experience as a Project Assistant, Personal Assistant, Secretary or in other relevant administrative role
  • Experience with administrative work is an advantage

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the Contract document as it relates to his or her duties on the project
  • Completing and submitting applicable inspection reports that accurately describe the work performed on the project
  • Taking proactive approach to safety on the job site and reporting safety issues to the Chief Inspector and Safety Inspector
  • Verifying that all materials used on the installation are in compliance with Company requirements.
  • Assuring that any design changes or material substitutions are discussed with the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer and that proper Company approval is obtained prior to proceeding with the work.
  • Keeping the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer aware of any daily problems or anticipated problems with the project.
  • The ability to read and interpret piping and instrumentation drawings pertaining to the construction project.
  • Follow control logic in project electrical drawings and interface with existing systems.
  • Be familiar with interpretation of hazardous locations as defined by the N.E.C. and Company specifications and be knowledgeable of approved wiring methods for these areas. Understand interfacing of pneumatic and electrical control systems (i.e. actuators, pressure, and I/P transmitters). Basic Qualifications: The minimum qualifications include five (5) years of experience as an Electrical Inspector/Technician or journeyman of which two years are of general pipeline or plant experience with an emphasis in electrical power and control system construction methods. In addition, inspector should be familiar with National Electric Code (N.E.C.) guidelines. Additionally the position must meet the basic qualifications of an Utility Inspector (basic inspector). Desired Qualifications:
  • Fundamental understanding of: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer.

Petroplan is currently working with an E&P business who are in need of a number of Production Operators for their ongoing projects in Wyoming.

In this position, you will report directly to the Operations Supervisor for the Rockies business division and be responsible for well operations, gas lift, Electrical Submersible Pumps, three phase separation, control board operation, pipeline, maintenance of valve, pumps and rotating equipment and assisting the other operators in their duties. Key challenges will include:

  • Performs and prepares maintenance, recording readings, issuing work permits, adhere to the procedures, initiating work requests, drafting procedures, and interfacing with support groups.
  • Monitor equipment and well performance data, act to take full advantage of production opportunity.
  • Works very closely with multiple different supporting teams to optimize pump rates based on data from the production
  • Interfaces with Engineering for data gathering requests.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working within a production operation and live within Wyoming.

You will have a very strong understanding of Project management principles and experience working on Refinery operations.
