Drilling Engineer - Spanish Speaking

Position: Drilling Engineer

Location: Houston, Gulf of Mexico operations

Petroplan is currently working with a private equity backed E&P business who are in the process of increasing their Gulf of Mexico footprint. Due to this continued expansion, a need has arisen within the business to add a Spanish speaking Drilling Engineer to their Gulf of Mexico operations division to assist with the ongoing and upcoming projects on both the US and Mexican side of the Gulf.

In this position, you will report directly into the Drilling Manager and be heavily involved in the planning and execution phases of the drilling program. You will be involved with ensuring that all activities are planned, scheduled and executed to achieve the agreed requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Key challenges will include:

  • Establishing and promoting safety and environmental performance expectations with employees and contractors in accordance with the Company's safety policies and Safe Sound initiative.
  • Preparing operational plans for planned wells and liaising with other departments when required
  • Being responsible for drilling optimization, identifying best practises and running lessons learned when required
  • Travelling to the field is required as and when needed
  • Dealing with third party vendors with a strong focus on cost and performance

Experienced Required

  • Fluent Spanish speaking
  • At least 10 years of Drilling Engineering experience
  • Offshore experience (Gulf of Mexico preferred)

Position: Drilling Engineer - Gulf Mexico

Petroplan is currently working with an expansion focused E&P business who are in the process of increasing their engineering team in their Houston base due to their continued operational growth. A need has arisen within the business to add a highly experienced Drilling Engineer to their Gulf of Mexico operations division to assist with the ongoing and upcoming Drilling projects.

In this position, you will report directly into the Drilling Manager and play a key part in the long-term direction of their gulf of Mexico operations. You will be involved with ensuring that all activities are planned, scheduled and executed to achieve the agreed requirements in a safe and efficient manner. Key challenges will include:

  • Preparing operational plans for planned wells and liaising with other departments when required
  • Responsible for drilling optimization, identifying best practises and running lessons learned when required
  • Travel to the field is required as and when needed
  • Deal with third party vendors with a strong focus on cost and performance

You must have at least 10 years of experience, including 6 years' experience in oil and gas operations working as a Drilling Engineer in Gulf of Mexico operations. Experience working on both shallow and Deepwater projects are preferred and must hold at least a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.

Chief Electrical Specialist - Onshore Rigs

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a global company who's looking to make their mark in America! The Chief Electrical Specialist will conduct land drilling rig and electrical equipment condition audits in accordance with ISO 19011 Guidelines for Management System Audits.

Chief Electrical Specialist Job Duties:

  • Assess and report on the availability, reliability and fitness-for-purpose of all electrical equipment including power generation, distribution and control
  • Responsible for the suitability of equipment in hazardous areas as well as critical safety systems (i.e. gas detectors)
  • Provide specialist advice, operational support or training material to clients upon request


Chief Electrical Specialist Requirements:

  • 20 years' experience - we are looking for experts in this field
  • Technical degree
  • Chief Engineering Certification is highly desirable
  • Must be familiar with applicable and relevant specifications with API, NFPA, OSHA, IADC, OEM and be competent with Explosion Proof Equipment
  • Strong foundation with electrical equipment and systems is preferred

Due to this continued growth, a need has arisen within the business to add a highly experienced Completion Supervisor to their Permian operations division to assist with the ongoing and upcoming unconventional projects.

In this position, you will report directly into the on site superintendent and act as the focal point for all completion activity. You will be involved with ensuring that all activities are planned, scheduled and executed to achieve the agreed requirements in a safe and efficient manner.

You must have at least 10 years of experience, including 6 years' experience in oil and gas operations working as a Completion Supervisor. Experience working in the Permian is preferred.
