The role will be initially based near Houston, TX.

Job Overview

The Electrical Engineer will be an integral part of the Maintenance and Reliability Team and required to perform maintenance and troubleshooting activities on the operational facility.
The Electrical Engineer will work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager to ensure the safe and reliable operations of the equipment in the terminal. The complexity of the electrical power systems in both the LQF and PTF plants requires the availability of high level technical expertise on short notice to understand unfolding events, explain them to Operations and to maintenance personnel; and to supervise repairs and restarting problematic electrical equipment.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all static electrical equipment reliability - high voltage experience is a plus
  • Learn operations of all facility processes and equipment
  • Assist facility personnel with operational and maintenance problems
  • Perform advanced equipment troubleshooting
  • Evaluates electrical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs and can apply principles of electrical engineering
  • Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and testing properties
  • Develops electrical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements
  • Researches and tests manufacturing and assembly methods and materials
  • Confirms fabrication, assembly, and installation processes
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services
  • Completes projects by training and guiding technicians
  • Insure all regulatory requirements are met, regarding maintenance activities for electrical equipment
  • Good analytical problem solving skills, including root cause analysis
  • Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining Maintenance Procedures for electrical equipment


Experience / Education

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 10 years experience in plant reliability engineering
  • 5-7 years experience in planned and unplanned maintenance scheduling
  • Knowledge and experience working with electrical harmonics, harmonic filters, and non-linear loads, High Voltage and Medium Voltage electrical power systems
  • Knowledge and experience in the application and programming of protective relays, with focus on Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories equipment, illumination, methods, luminary types, & calculations, grounding, ground potential rise, & static bonding and the National Electrical Code
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E, Safety in Design, and Safety in the field
  • Control Engineering with production planning, and job knowledge
  • Ability to develop and lead the MOC process
  • Strong general consulting and planning skills
  • Experience in reading and understanding P&ID & PFD drawings and Instrument & Electrical drawings
  • Understanding of Vendor/Equipment supplied data sheets

We are looking for an Electrical Technical Authority for a large oil a gas client in Switzerland. The role will be to guide the project through pre-commissioning, commissioning and operations. The Electrical specialist shall provide oversight for contracts with vendors/suppliers of back-up electrical power generation/distribution units and associated systems.

Role:

  • Assuring that all Electrical activities during the pre-commissioning, commissioning and operations readiness phases through to steady state operations and beyond meet company requirements
  • Act as the Technical Authority for all electrical facilities including but not limited to Grid Connections (20kV or 15 kV), Overhead Power lines, Medium and Low Voltage Switchgear, transformers, 400V AC Systems (main power); UPS (230V Single Phase, 110V DC & 24V DC), earthing & lightning protection, diesel generators, emergency lighting and electrical connections to all process equipment
  • Review project documentation including SLD's, electrical load lists, specifications, cable drawings, load calculations, HAZIDs, HAZOPs. Ensure full and adequate documentation is available and of the requisite standard prior to entering operations
  • Review the EPC Contractor's site electrical pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing procedures ensuring that they fulfil the Project's quality and performance needs. In accordance with the project schedule, inspect, verify and witness Contractor and Vendor activities as necessary. Highlight any areas of concern
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) of all Electrical equipment as required
  • Oversee the development of Operations phase electrical safety test procedures. Ensure that test procedures are validated, achievable and accurately reflected in site procedures and work instructions
  • Support the development and award of long term power supply agreements. Provisionally assume the role of Company Contract Owner and provide oversight to the country teams in the management of the contract
  • Develop, implement and manage the key quality and integrity processes required to ensure that the Electrical systems are maintained and operated safely to support the company's production availability and throughput targets.
  • Provides electrical power control and distribution system conformance assurance
  • Contribute to the hierarchy and taxonomy of electrical equipment in the Maintenance Master Equipment List. Sign off electrical maintenance strategies
  • Support the definition of annual and multi-year inspection, testing and maintenance plans for the asset electrical systems.
  • Contribute to the asset warehousing, inventory, sparing, and logistics strategies for electrical equipment
  • Oversight responsibility for ensuring all electrical equipment located in hazardous areas have correct 'ex' rating for the correct hazardous zone and are installed and maintained in accordance with current procedures and standards.
  • Technical reviewer and authoriser for safety critical deferrals for electrical equipment
  • Audit the quality of electrical work carried out by the contractor
  • Define Safe Electrical Isolation practices to be incorporated in Company Procedures and the Permit to Work Systems
  • Sign off complex electrical isolation method statements where required
  • Technical reviewer and authoriser in management of change activities, ensuring that the electrical equipment within technical remit is not compromised by physical, procedural or organisational changes
  • Champion the effective deployment of new technologies including thermography
  • Provide support to peer Technical Authorities in assessing the performance of transformer rectifiers, CP Systems, Control Systems and Rotating Equipment
  • Work closely with asset O&M engineers, instrumentation and control technicians, electrical technicians and power generation/distribution systems manufacturers to maximise equipment reliability and availability

Experience Required:

  • 10-12 years' supervisory/frontline Electrical Power Generation and Distribution Good understanding of electrical safety, safe systems of work, electrical isolation control methods and job safety analysis
  • Experience of performing a technical authority role or equivalent
  • Recent and relevant experience in refinery/petrochemicals/energy industries in specifying, selecting, testing and handling design issues of Electrical systems in high value projects.
  • Extensive experience in leadership or supervisory role for medium voltage power generation, and distribution systems
  • Extensive experience of managing the maintenance of Hazardous area equipment, familiar with ATEX requirements

We are looking for a reliability engineer to work with a leading owner-operator in Oman.

The Machinery Reliability Engineer will oversee the performance and reliability on rotating equipment and high-impact systems including gas engines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors and pumps, fin-fans and blowers, and associated non-mechanical systems.

The reliability engineer shall be well versed in all aspects of plant maintenance and reliability such that to develop, coordinate and assess maintenance improvement programs, processes and systems. The engineer must be experienced in current and classical maintenance/reliability programs such as total productive maintenance, and reliability cantered maintenance, and be able to develop the reliability block diagram for the facility and use it to assess the reliability of equipment and systems.

The engineer should be able to determine how to improve the reliability of concerned systems through system re-design or appropriate system monitoring technology, as well as utilize and make decisions based on condition monitoring systems such as vibration, oil condition and ultrasound analyses.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Plan and provide work direction for preparation of designs, processes and reports, and ensure efficiency, adequacy and conformance to overall plant reliability objectives.
  • Formulate and challenge the economic basis for engineering studies by analysing and evaluating all data pertaining to problems.
  • Continuously assess and improve the reliability of equipment, systems and processing trains.
  • Evaluate the criticality assessment for assets and modify the maintenance strategy accordingly.
  • Utilize condition monitoring systems to proactively assess and predict equipment failure.
  • Coordinate and resolve problems and concerns with all stake holders.
  • Coach and mentor young professionals and technicians, and review their work and guide for quality deliverables.
  • Review and develop scope and description of technology items, and lead the implementation and operation of developed solutions in the field to meet standard/performance requirements.
  • Lead change in reliability processes and assess associated risks in accordance with the company's systems.
  • Facilitate proactive reliability engineering analyses in accordance with established processes.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties related to the area of expertise as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical or instrumentation engineering from an accredited institution.

The academic credential must be coupled with a minimum of ten years of work experience in the maintenance and reliability field at oil and gas facilities, and related engineering practices and international standards. Five years of working knowledge of probability/statistics principles, computerized maintenance management systems and notable reliability engineering tools are required.

Fluent in written and spoken English

Ability to demonstrate process management and improvement, project planning, mentorship and leadership.

Oman

A process engineer is required to work on a new gas field development in Oman, with an international oil, gas and energy company.

Roles and Responsibilities

Oversee the natural gas and liquids production equipment as well as related equipment and facilities.
Oversee the process production equipment design, selection of equipment, operations and construction on this type of facility.
Controlling the process project documents such as the P&IDs.
Ensuring process equipment functionality is maintained and oversee the design and manufacturing, ensuring it is cost effective.
Works with process design software tools (i.e. Hysys, Flarenet, etc) and perform and optimize process simulation design for assigned projects/proposals.
Prepare process design basis, process description and equipment list with key specification.
Suggest process plant and recovery improvements
Prepare data sheets for process equipment
Work with the planning and drafting team as required.
Carry out process equipment sizing and other engineering calculations for piping/instrument sizes of all systems; hydraulic level specification, retention and settling times and heat duty requirements.
Carry out process engineering operations including vendor inquiry preparation, vendor bid analysis and vendor selection and inputs to process and auxiliary system mechanical flow diagrams.
Assist application engineers on technical issues related to preparation of proposals and equipment performance evaluation.
Participate in HAZIP, HAZOP, SIL and other safety reviews along with clients.
Liaise with manufacturing to confirm and improve process design plans.
Assist in the resolution of Oman field problems and warranty claims.
Develop and assist with the implementation of procedural improvements to improve business efficiencies.
Ability to generate MOC documentation and implement the relevant changes.
Work with Oman operations and site to ensure business success

Required Skills or Tools:

Degree or Masters in Chemical Engineering / Process Engineering with 10-15 years of experience in similar role.
Fluent in English.
Experience in Cryogenic plants, Amine plants, Compressor stations and Sulphur recovery units.
Conversant with relevant process design/simulation tools (e.g Hysys, Pipesys, Flarenet and HTRI).
Sound working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Travel to site required (25%)

Skills/ Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years Oil Trading experience
  • Bachelors Degree Preferable
  • Proactive Team Player with good attention to detial and great communicaiton skills
  • Excellent sales skills and driven mentality
  • Additional language beneficial

Responsibilities include:

  • Negotiate between the clients and suppliers, execution of trade deals with optimized margin from enquiry stage, negotiation, closing the deal, deal confirmation and monitoring the deliveries.
