My client, a market leading Petrochemical Producer, are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join them on a permanent basis in support of their MEGA Petrochemical Project. This position requires someone whom has experience of successfully overseeing the Start Up & Commissioning phase of a MEGA Petrochemical Project. Various Key Responsibilities Including:

  • Successfully direct safe operations by complying with the organisation's HSE, Process Safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and systems in order to achieve zero harm to people, assets and the environment.

Our client, a mid-sized operator within the Oil & Gas Industry, have a need for an experienced Construction Director to aid with the development and construction of a large scale Project in Canada.
The role will be initially based in Houston, TX during the development/design phase before transitioning to the Project Site in Canada once Project Execution commences

Job Overview

This role will be an integral part of the Snr Leadership Team and will be at the forefront of the development and execution of a Major Petro-Chemical facility.
This senior level position requires the individual must be competent in construction of large infrastructure projects in Canada, with preference being given for LNG experience. The candidate must have strategic decision making skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for safe on- time completion of construction of LNG Plant and associated facilities
  • Leadership and performance of the owners' construction team
  • Recruitment of resources to support construction organization during project

  • Self- starter with proven history of delivery of on time on cost

Our client, a leading Petrochemical Owner / Operator, are currently looking for a Project Manager to oversee the entire project lifecycle of their Steam Cracker Project. This position is based in Dubai and will start immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage the development of the Process Units Area 1 Design Cases, and the Scope of Requirement during the FEED.
  • To manage the development of the Steam Cracker, and other Process Units Technology Licenses Invitation to Tenders (ITT), Tender Clarifications, Tender Evaluations, and Recommendation of Award.
  • Overall project management including project engineering, project planning/scheduling, progress monitoring, budgeting, cost estimating, cost control, multi-discipline engineering co-ordination, project procurement support, document control and contract management.

  • Develop EPC Contracts Acceptance of Work (work process & accountability/responsibility) Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning, and Start Up till achievement of the Facility Initial Acceptance and Hand Over to Operation & Maintenance.
  • Mentoring and development of new recruited engineers, and interns.

Petroplan is currently hiring for a Supply Chain Category Manager for a major Oil and Gas Company in Houston, TX with relocation to Saudi Arabia.


The Supply Chain Category Manager's primary role is implementing the category management methodologies to support the UR operation. Through this role, you will play a central part in the development of category/sub-category demand forecasts, supply market analyses, and category management strategies. You will be responsible for implementing these strategies to maximize the total life cycle value obtained from the categories. In addition, you will lead supplier relationship management activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely related field and a Masters would be desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive field-based experience in the oil and gas industry with deep and extensive knowledge of either drilling fluids category management and commodities OR drilling and completions category management and commodities.
  • Experience working within unconventional resources and possess sound knowledge hydraulic fracking and understanding of Drilling Fluids, coring, mud logging, etc.
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards and SAP systems.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Demand forecasting: Participate in the development of demand forecasts and identify implications of such forecasts.
  • Category strategy development: In coordination with the conventional Materials Supply category management organization you will develop category management strategies for drilling and completions categories and sub-categories, considering both the internal UR requirements and supply market conditions, to maximize the total life cycle value delivered to UR business users. You will develop category workbooks and procurement strategies to be implemented over the next ten years and present these strategies to key stakeholders and management. You will also ensure that category strategies comply with legal requirements and company policies, value assurance frameworks and business principles.
  • Strategic Sourcing implementation: Prioritize strategic sourcing activities for the categories/sub-categories, and lead the execution of these activities (implementing the category strategies), including supply market engagement, preparation of RFP/RFX, evaluation of responses, negotiations, and development of strategic agreements.
  • Supplier Relationship management: Develop segmented supplier relationship engagement models for suppliers, monitor supplier/category performance, and engage with suppliers to improve performance.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with major contractors and suppliers at top management level, leveraging such relationships with relevant markets to provide current and insightful market intelligence.
  • Cross-functional coordination within UR: Coordinate with UR business users, technical proponents, and other UR Supply Chain functions (such as tactical procurement and materials management) to ensure that the maximum value is obtained from the categories.
  • Coordination with conventional Materials Supply: Coordinate with category managers in the conventional Saudi Aramco Materials Supply organization, to ensure alignment of category strategies at the corporate level and a unified approach to market for strategic categories while utilizing your extensive knowledge and experience to ensure that UR implements a cost-efficient and effective category management function.

Petroplan are seeking an experienced Responsible Care Manager to work for one of our clients, a mid-sized operator within the petro-chem industry. The role will be initially based in Houston but required to transfer to the Project Site in Louisiana (near Baton Rouge) in mid-2019.

Duties / Responsibilites:

  • Manages and monitors the development, implementation and continual improvement of the Project Responsible Care program that supports the achievement of the Project plan, Global Responsible Care Plan and overall Corporate Strategy
  • Ensure appropriate Responsible Care standards/guidelines are established and maintained, and that all work is done in compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and based on best practice and industry standards.
  • Ensure implementation by Project Partners and all participants of the RC plans and actions that are in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and execute opportunities to improve project performance, and/or minimize overall risk of harm to people, harm to the environment or loss prevention.
  • Establishes and manages the projects Responsible Care related lessons learned process. Ensures continuous learning and improvement through revision of the Project Responsible Care program based on the lessons learned.
  • Seeks out industry best-practices in collaboration with Project Partners and imbeds these within the Project Responsible Care program.
  • In conjunction with the Project Leadership Team, ensure that there is an effective emergency response and crisis management capability in place for all phases of the project.
  • Provides interpretation and advice related to the project RC program content.
  • Conducts periodic assessments and audits of the performance of the Responsible Care program over the life of the project.
  • Will preside/participate over Project RC Team periodic meetings to assess Project RC issues and performance with Project Partners and participants.
  • Will ensure incident reporting is effective and mitigation actions are appropriately implemented in conjunction with Project Partners and participants
  • Provides reporting internally and statistics for assessment of the RC program in collaboration with the other Project Partners.
  • Will participate in evaluations of the Project Partners RC programs and evaluation of potential Project Partners RC programs and resources.
  • Implement appropriate training and programs to ensure that the project team have high levels of Responsible Care, environment, health and safety skills and awareness.

Skills / Experience:

  • Formal education in Occupational Safety & Health (certificate, diploma or degree) or a Degree in a technical engineering discipline and extensive experience in managing construction HSE
  • Minimum 15 years within the petrochemical or related industry
  • Must have plant construction and/or extensive turnaround experience
  • Strong background in Responsible Care and specifically health, safety, environmental and quality applications in construction and turnarounds
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to travel and work remotely as required


In order to carry out all duties and responsibilities effectively, the position requires strong knowledge of the processes underlying major construction projects. The ability to work through influence, motivate others, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills is critical to success. Knowledge of the methanol manufacturing process, understanding of the chemical and physical properties of methanol and other chemicals, thorough comprehension of Responsible Care and a commitment to the ethic are important. Good planning and organisational skills, the ability to prioritize diverse areas of effort and the capability of conducting work on multiple tasks are critical to this position.
