Controls and Instrumentation Engineer

My client is an industry leader in instrumentation, controls systems and equipment utilized within Petrochemicals, Refineries and process facilities. They are looking to bring on an experienced engineer to join the team to work at one of their client's facilities located in Northern Alabama. This role will start out as a contract but could extend into a long-term contract or potential to transfer to permanent status. Please see the details below regarding the responsibilities and requirements.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Provide preventative and corrective maintenance on systems, equipment, and products
  • Conduct various function testing on equipment/systems for troubleshooting
  • Answer technical questions and concerns of the clients
  • Proficient with hardware and software components of DCS systems
  • Will act as the face of the company while on site with a heavy customer service focus
  • Identify areas of concern, risk, and/or improvement
  • Manage various task and duties at any given time
  • Must maintain thorough knowledge, products, and services of the client
  • Ability to travel overnight and be on a 24 hour call at times

Education/Experience:

  • S. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related
  • Work experience can be supplemented in lieu of degree
  • 5 years of related experience in the design and implementation of process control systems.
  • Must have knowledge of basic control system hardware, software, and applications
  • Strong communication skills

Requirements:

  • 2 years of previous experience within Material Handling
  • High school diploma or equivalent, 2 year degree is preferred
  • Previous experience working in operations environment

  • Lift Truck Certification is preferred
  • Forklift or crane certification

The suitable candidates should have a broad range of experience of all stages of a project, from conceptual studies to FEEDs and Detailed Design. Along with experience in producing Electrical Engineering deliverables and calculations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified (Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Chartered Engineer (MIET) desirable (or working towards)

Key Responsibilities:

  • The role will be involved in the development of procedures, standards, specifications and efficient execution of production work.
  • Involved with the development of Electrical Design Philosophies, Electrical Equipment Specifications, Construction and Installation packages, Commissioning packages.
  • Responsible for generating all Single Line and electrical drawings

Position Skills:

  • Commercial experience in Electrical Engineering design on capital projects.
  • Good experience in Electrical Engineering design preferably in fine chemicals, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, and/or food industries.
  • Good knowledge of motor controls, including variable speed drives.
  • Ability to operate as a lead engineer on different projects.

QC INSPECTOR

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspection of first article, in-process and finished goods with emphasis on precision machined parts to customer quality standards and dimensional control.


Quality Control Inspector

  • Dimensionally inspect machined parts using a variety of measuring and gauging instruments such as; Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T), FARO Arm, CMM
  • Performs incoming material inspection according to establishing standards
  • Performs First Article, in-process and final inspection to ensure customer quality
    standards are met
  • Maintains inspection records of inspection data and NCR's
  • Final inspection reports, outside service tags and final inspection approval documents
  • Maintains equipment in a clean manner and ensures that all equipment is stored properly such that it will be protected from damage when not in use
  • Working with Engineering Department, help identify and update drawings as needed.
  • Occasional travel is required to local third party vendors for on-site inspections and audits

QC Inspector Required Qualifications

  • 3 years' experience with GD&T, FARO ARM, and CMM inspections
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of QC instruments and gages
  • Must be knowledgeable in GD&T
  • Must be able to work overtime when required
  • Knowledge of ISO standards a plus
