Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer


Job Description / Role

  • Assist Engineering Manager in design and evaluation of tender proposal and/or project design.
  • Assisting with the design of structures, using specialized software or calculations
  • Analyze the soil parameters and assess the stability of structures under normal and seismic conditions.
  • Analyze the geotechnical data and prepare of geotechnical interpretative report (GIR).
  • Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations and prepare data reports to Manager.
  • Develop design drawings and specifications for construction projects.
  • Plan geotechnical investigation effectively.
  • Supervise site and ground investigations.
  • Analyze the soil parameters and provide input to the dredging production estimators.
  • Review and approve geotechnical design developed by third party consultants.
  • Interact with customers and team members to complete the assigned project on-time.
  • Review construction design proposals and verify geotechnical aspects.
  • Ensure correct design approach as per QA/QC procedure and standards.


Requirements

Educational Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Engineering Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or geology or and equivalent professional qualification.
  • Deep understanding of soil and rock mechanics
  • High level of knowledge of geotechnical design software and tools
  • High level of knowledge of geotechnical standards and guidelines


Function Specific Experience

  • Consultancy and design experience
  • Experience in marine and harbour design


Industry Related Experience

  • Marine construction
  • Dredging and Reclamation
  • Geotechnical Survey
  • GIS


Years Of Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of Port/Marine geotechnical design experience

The activity supports all sourcing activities, from the development of Strategy & Bid Lists, and subsequent RFP preparation, including the development of Evaluation Criteria, and the negotiation and placement of Contracts.

Post Contract Management and Supplier Management activities shall be executed through established processes. A strong working relationship with the Projects Technical teams based in Iraq, supports Contract implementation. The requirement to comply with the Procurement Principles which align with the Technical Services Contract and supports local content and cost recovery.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Manages multiple sourcing of the sector
  • Utilises ISNetworld to define bid-lists and issue Expressions of Interests (EOI)
  • Prepare Strategy & Bid List (SBL) for approval by relevant Governance Board
  • Prepare all necessary RFP and Contract documentation for issue through ARIBA OneSource and all subsequent clarifications and Supplier communications
  • Apply appropriate local contracting templates and work with Stakeholders to define and develop Scopes of Work and associated Evaluation criteria
  • Prepare and develop Bid Evaluation Plans (BEP)
  • Prepare Recommendation for Award (RFA) for approval by relevant Governance Board and ensure timely execution and implementation of Award Recommendations
  • Undertake Contract Management activities including the issuing of Call Offs, and support invoice queries and any dispute resolution as required
  • Support HSE or other investigations as required
  • Support Cost reduction activities through renegotiation and/or retendering activities, including the development of Negotiation Strategies
  • Continuous improvement in Contractor Safety performance and operational risk reduction with particular focus on Potential High Consequence Activities (PHCA) and improvement in process safety
  • Maintain accurate records in MAXIMO and ARIBA of all sourcing events and Contracting activities to ensure compliance and cost recovery
  • Perform Counter-party Due Diligence checks
  • Support Internal and External Audits as required
