Mechanical Engineer IV - Houston

Petroplan is currently accepting applications for a Mechanical Engineer IV opening to join a world wide company. This position is contract (Long term) and located in Houston, TX. Prospective candidates will be providing technical support to several departments while leading improvement of asset reliability and provide subject matter expertise by applying sound reliability engineering practices and analysis.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or Engineering degree with equivalent experience to an Instrument and Control Engineer)
  • 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Must have the following experience / background:
    • Compression and Metering Stations field instrumentation, including analytical instrumentation, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), condition monitoring systems such as Bently Nevada and turbo-machinery control systems.
    • Risk assessments (Process Hazard Analysis - PHA, Layer Of Protection Analysis - LOPA , Safety Instrumented Systems - SIS)

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Petroplan is currently working with a large Oilfield Service and Manufacturing company located here in the Houston area. They are actively looking to bring a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This would be an R&D focused role with some sustainable work as well. The main focus and requirement they are seeking is individuals with experience around Downhole Mud motors, bearings, and related components. Responsibilities:

  • Current technical understanding of mechanical engineer design applied to process and/or instrument design.
  • Experience with mechanical engineering CAD tools, SolidWorks, Pro/E, etc.
  • Expertise in the area of material science applied to mechanical engineering
  • Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following standards, practices, and use of engineering tools as recommended
  • Communicate with customers, third-party project representatives, and other company departments to meet assigned project requirements and schedule.
  • Configure product databases.
  • Review system drawings
  • Develop test procedures and conduct system tests
  • Provides strategic direction, vision, and leadership to direct reports including coaching, mentoring and developing staff, as needed
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related), required
  • Seven plus years' experience of related experience
  • P.E. License preferred, but not required
  • Able to work without sponsorship

Pipeline Integrity Engineer

This position provides technical expertise and support to address reliability and integrity related issues on pipelines.

This individual will interface and work closely with various key stakeholders such as Operations personnel, Service Providers (In-Line Inspection/ Pigging contractors, Chemical suppliers, CP Vendors, Condition Monitoring Vendors, NDE Vendors etc.), Maintenance contactors, Projects group etc. to ensure effective assurance programs and continuous improvements for pipeline integrity and reliability.


The individual must be well versed in pipe integrity threats and hazards, Canada/ US pipeline regulations, and pipeline codes and standards.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support on the selection, development, implementation and sustainment of effective assurance/mitigation plans, monitoring and inspection programs for pipelines.
  • Lead and/or participate in pipeline risk assessments, engineering assessments, pipeline failure investigations, internal/external audits, failure analysis and repairs
  • Coordinate, interface with and provide technical direction to service providers in regard to pipeline integrity management programs e.g. chemical mitigation, cathodic protection, protective coatings, in-line inspection, monitoring and other mitigation
  • Providing in house training on Pipeline Integrity Management
  • Providing technical input to and or development of engineering specifications, standards and procedures
  • Participation in industry associations, workgroups (i.e. NACE, UPIMA, CAPP etc.) workshops and conferences.


Must have qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree in a related engineering discipline
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 15 years engineering, with 8 years' experience working in a pipeline integrity engineering role
  • NACE Certification(s)/Training (Cathodic Protection, Coatings, Pipelines, Material Selection, Corrosion, Chemical Treatment, ICDA, ECDA, NACE MR 0175
  • Formal training in integrity specializations (Risk Assessment, ILI, Defect Assessment, Repairs, CP, Internal Corrosion Control, Coatings) and Management Systems
  • Knowledge and experience in risk assessment, fitness for service assessments, root cause analysis, pipeline inspection techniques, crack managements, defect analysis, corrosion control and mitigation (e.g. coating, chemical treatments, maintenance pigging) and cathodic protection systems.
  • Working knowledge of nonmetallic pipelines integrity management
  • Experience with the Provincial and Federal Regulatory (AER, BCOGC, NEB, MER) requirements and Codes (API) and standards (CSA) and fully qualified to apply engineering standards relevant to the pipeline industry, including CSA Z662, API Standards, and NEB, Alberta, and Saskatchewan Pipeline Regulations.


Nice to have Qualifications:

  • API Certifications (1169, 570, 579, 510, 653, 571, 580 etc.)
  • Previous experience with SAP

  • Troubleshoot, test, assemble, disassemble and perform visual inspection of electro-mechanical assemblies and analyzer equipment
  • Instrument metal tubing cutting, bending, and fitting in a system
  • System assembly and testing - electrical continuity and leak tests
  • Provide excellent customer service


Elec/Mech Technician Qualifications

  • 3 years of electrical and mechanical experience

Measurement Technician

Petroplan is currently accepting applications for an entry level Measurement Technician I to join a market leading Oil & Gas company. This position is a year long contract and will be located in Kenedy, TX. Prospective candidates will be responsible for maintenance and repair of measurement station, and associated equipment including and not limited to EFM (Electronic Flow Meters), meter tubes, composite samplers, radio communications, PD meters, Coriolis meters, and auxiliary pressure transmitters. Also, candidates will be responsible for scheduling and maintaining various types of measurements equipment.
