Mine / Tailings Development Engineer

Our client who is a leading Oil and Gas company are currently looking for 2 Mine / Tailings Development Engineers on a long term contract basis FIFO from Calgary or Edmonton


Under the direction of the mine and tailings projects development leads the work will include providing design support using a mine planning software package, translating strategic long range project plans into summary documents to support the project development process along with support work in the generation of Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinating project deliverable activities and maintaining tracking metrics
  • Coordinating construction milestones to short range execution groups, compiling project translation documents to inform short range and operations project customers of project deliverables
  • Maintaining stewardship of project milestones with business planning, budgetary and short range customers.


Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in either Mining or Civil Engineering
  • 2 - 5 years' experience in mining/tailings or large earth moving environment combined with support roles in project management/execution.
  • Computer skills include Microsoft office products and Cad Software.
  • Minescape mine planning software.

Snr Process Engineer

Our client, an emerging Operator within the Oil & Gas Industry, has a requirement for an experienced Snr Process Engineer with a focus on Downstream / LNG Projects.
The role will be initially based in Houston, TX however require frequent visits to Project Sites both domestically and internationally.

Job Overview

The Senior Process Engineer performs the review of the process deliverable from the FEED and/or EPC contractor. Reviews the functional test and performance standard procedures developed by the EPC Contractor for performing the Functional tests and measuring the Performance Standards related to utility consumption, LNG production, and on line reliability and maintenance requirements of all equipment.

Roles/Responsibilities

·Advises, reviews and signs off on projects and contractor developed documentation:

  • Heat and material balances
  • Process Flow Diagrams
  • Piping and Instrument Drawings
  • Plot Plans
  • Equipment data sheets
  • Vendor drawings
  • Vendor shop inspections
  • 3 D model
  • Start-up / operating manuals
·Advises on the development and execution plans of the common standards and process for the process engineering as provided by the engineering services group in E&C.
·Directs the efforts of the assigned process engineers
  • Assigns areas of responsibility to process engineers assigned to the project and reviews process groups work product

·Participate in HAZOP and HAZID reviews
·Coordinates with other discipline leads
·Supervises assigned employees
·Keeps management informed with respect to the progression of the projects
·Develops and/or reviews all process modifications made on the project
·Require competence in the use of process simulation software in order to model process situations as requested to support management decisions
·Participate in the development, reviews and bidding of technical contracts for the projects
·Leads teams and provides mentoring of junior engineers at the company

Experience / Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 x years experience within the energy / oil & gas industry
  • Minimum of 5 x years experience on LNG Projects / Design
  • Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).
  • Excellent communication skills due to extensive EPC and vendor interface
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in referencing, researching, reporting, tracking and monitoring of activities and documents
  • Ability to work independently and function with limited supervision
  • Proficient in the use of HYSYS, Excel, and Word
  • Working knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII, API RP 520 and 521

Engineering Manager

Our client, an emerging Operator within the Oil & Gas Industry, has a requirement for an experienced Engineering Manager with a focus on Downstream / LNG Projects.

Job Overview

This role will be an integral part of the Snr Leadership Team and will be at the forefront of the development and execution of a Major Petro-Chemical facility.
The Engineering Manager is accountable for the management, review and approval of the final technical design and other documents provided by Contractors and will assist in administering and monitoring the FEED and/or EPC contractor during the detailed engineering and procurement phases, providing technical support to engineering and managing engineering support during construction, commissioning and start up.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Works with Project Manager and E&C Engineering services team on all engineering related aspects to ensure on time and cost-effective project execution
  • Ensures quality of engineering and design services and deliverables of both direct and subcontracted work complying with contract and government requirements and support the overall project schedule
  • Manages the administration of engineering including interfaces with document control, review and approval matrices, document numbering, conformance to comments and all other administrative functions of managing the engineering effort.
  • Provides leadership in review and approval of project issues such as design assumptions, heat & material balance, equipment and material selection, operation & maintenance and compliance with design standards and environmental regulations
  • Attends and participates in all project key meetings organized by Project Manager and Engineering Services. Conduct technical coordination meetings with relevant parties.
  • Reviews drawings, schedules, specifications, and permits to ensure compliance with project requirements. Make proper decision for FEED and/or EPC Contractor not to stop and/or hold the project construction activities.
  • Works collaboratively with the Process Engineering Manager, the Senior Project Manager and ther members of project leadership to ensure timely deliverables and proper and efficient interface management between the three functions of Projects, Process and Engineering.
  • Works with the E&C Construction Manager to review engineering plans for plant constructability, operability and maintainability

Experience / Education

  • Recognized Engineering qualification (Degree preferred), with extensive project development skills
  • Minimum of 15 x years experience within the energy / oil & gas industry
  • Minimum of 7 x years within a Snr / Leadership role on a Major Project
  • Minimum of 3 x years experience on LNG Projects / Design
  • Strong knowledge of LNG liquefaction design and operation.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance and control practices.
  • Strong knowledge in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies in oil & gas field.

Petroplan is hiring for a Tool Technician in Broussard, LA for a major Oil and Gas company.
Job Description:

  • Performs maintenance functions such as repairs on down-hole tools, surface equipment and other production equipment in the application for down-hole tools.
  • Assembles and disassemble down-hole tools, surface equipment, and other production equipment.
  • Given the nature of oil field service work, the ability to communicate effectively with others is necessary.
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required.
  • Disassembling equipment, performing Maintenance, providing service to the customer in a timely manner
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand tool drawings a plus.


Additional Information:

  • Basic computer skills are preferred.
  • Licensure to drive commercial equipment may be required.
  • This is the entry level position into the tool tech family.
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.

Candidates will require offshore certification and, ideally, offshore experience and CRO experience.
Duties will include preparing production wells for testing, carrying out tests as specified, and completing well test reports. Our client, a Major Operator within the Oil & Gas Industry, has the need for an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead for a long term contract role based in Houston, TX.

Job Overview:

Will be responsible for the Mechanical Commissioning, planning and execution of the related commissioning activities to safely and efficiently inspect, test and document the plant systems and components are "Ready For Operation".

  • Manage the daily activities of the Mechanical Commissioning Group
  • Develop the system / sub-system definitions and boundaries of the Mechanical and Piping systems
  • Manage validation of the Mechanical Engineering lists / data to enable accurate equipment tagging and loading of the Commissioning Management System (CMS) database
  • Assists with the development of the commissioning schedule and budget

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Superintendent / Supervisor within the oil and gas industry
  • 10 years experience with the installation, commissioning and start up of rotating and static equipment
  • 10 years experience within the oil and gas industry with emphasis on drilling systems
  • 10 years experience within the oil and gas industry with emphasis on production systems
  • Able to read and understand P&ID's, PFD's, and SLD's
  • Able to use Navisworks to view and interrogate the Topsides 3D Model
