This is a 1 year contract role starting January 2020.

Overview of the role:


The Automation Analyst plans, organizes, and performs maintenance of the PCN network and monitors activities to ensure available and reliable equipment to meet the demands of the operation. She/he will provide direction and mentoring for the less experienced Systems Technician and may provide direction to contract personnel/crews.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides and updates documentation of network and operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Performs security assessments and provide recommendations for existing configurations.
  • Ensures a secure and robust environment for the administration system.
  • Schedules and coordinates systems maintenance activities
  • Performs maintenance on servers and desktops.
  • Performs patch/security updates to physical and virtual servers.
  • Ensures proper security protocols and guidelines are followed.
  • Protects the network from vulnerabilities.
  • Monitors and performs replication, backups and recovery.
  • Monitors, improves and maintains the disaster-recovery environments.
  • Uses project management tools and techniques to implement new initiatives.
  • Reports project status.
  • Works with end users or lower-level staff to achieve common goals.
  • Provides system analysis/troubleshooting by reviewing logs and working with application teams on production issues.
  • Leads projects for infrastructure and systems upgrades/implementations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required and Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Intermediate level, typically 3-5 years of experience.
  • Experience in an industrial environment involving SCADA, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Process Control Networks (PCN), Distributed Control System (DCS)

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under the federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) and provincial O. Reg. 390/18 (ON.20 and ON.350)
* Collection, quantification and tracking of air emissions data and calculation methodologies using Encompass - Releases and Emissions Module
* Local Administrator of Encompass - Releases and Emissions module. Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the database, configuration of the data, user-acceptance-testing, supporting clients entering emissions data, validating emissions formulas, generating reports, and verifying the accuracy of data production
* Implementation of federal methane requirements (Regulations Respecting Reduction in the Release of Methane and Certain Volatile Organic Compounds -Upstream Oil and Gas Sector (SOR/2018-66)), including the development, implementation and sustainment of procedures to meet federal requirements at Gas Storage facilities
* Completion of Federal National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) reporting; City of Toronto CHEMTrac air emissions reporting
* Support data collection for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) annual reporting and the Canadian Energy Partnership for Environmental Innovation (CEPEI) reporting
* Developing and sustaining environmental standards, programs and procedures for application throughout EGI
* Developing scopes of work and reviewing and interpreting environmental results/reports; applying knowledge and experience to provide sound environmental advice and recommendations to business
* Identifying opportunities for improvement within environmental programs; develop strategies and solutions to environmental matters and present recommendations to project teams for decision and implementation
* Participating in and leading meetings with internal/external stakeholders to discuss environmental projects, develop strategies for execution and supporting environmental compliance

MUST HAVE qualifications:

The primary focus of this role is to help ensure gas carrying assets within scope of the Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP) are suitable for continued use by actively identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential hazards.

This role will:


* Perform Integrity Assessments on gas distribution assets to assess potential hazards.
* Write engineering reports.
* Perform data analysis.
* Provide written and graphical content to support the completion of the annual DIMP Asset Health Review.
* Support the development of DIMP plans.
* Analyze asset, failure, condition, and location data for use in DIMP operating programs.
* Develop a technical understanding of gas distribution assets and associated hazards.

MUST HAVE qualifications:

* Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
* Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
* Excellent project management skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions:

This role will be stationed in the Markham office for the first 6 weeks for training. Following that the role can be stationed out of the Markham or Chatham office. Some travel will be required between offices and to occasionally to work sites.

* Understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation targeting a wide range of audiences.
* Ensure that engineering documentation and communications follow established writing rules, company standards, and legal requirements.

Mining Solutions - Business Analyst

Our client is looking for a Business Analyst in Calgary.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40 hours a week

Contract position until July 2020 however this maybe extended through remainder of 2020.

Job Overview

  • Support the development and execution of Mining Solutions projects within the Worker Safety and Enablement program. Would report for the Project Manager, Digital Mine Programs and support various site focused technology projects within the Digital Mine portfolio (Transformation Management Office)
  • Key AccountabilitiesDevelopment and management of general project management materials - project roadmaps, integrated program level schedules, work plans, sprint plans, presentations, etc.
  • Oversight of (where applicable) and participation in daily activities with project teams and stakeholders, including but not limited to innovation team members and associated vendors/consultants, EHS, advanced analytics, communications, D&ET development and execution resources, etc.
  • Support individual project's basic technical requirements - including working with internal SME's and priority stakeholders
  • Compile industry and global vendor data related to potential implementation products in working "data base" with relevant evaluation criteria to inform leader decision making as work progresses.
  • Support the development of all required gate documentation and deliverables, including business cases, gate support packages, decision support packages, etc.
  • Monitor and track key turnover milestones and related activities, in particular, the transition of projects from development to execution and through deployment
  • Support the management of key interferences (where applicable) and critical path activities with other related work (both internal and external to Mining Solutions). Examples include the connected worker program, and DOA/Mine M&R Enhancement
  • Support activities internal to Mining Solutions related to overall portfolio management. Examples include supporting candidate identification and preparation activities for vendor days, developing projects updates, articulating project risks, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree - preference for engineering or business/commerce
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Experience and Education
    • 2-5 (or more) years experience in a planning, development or projects space
    • Oil and Gas experience considered a major asset
    • Management Consulting experience considered a major asset
    • Experience working on technology implementations considered an asset
    • Experience leading projects considered a major asset

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to critically think through problems and make recommendations
  • Strong communication skills (presentation material, written and oral skills)
  • Comfort working in an often ambiguous environment without total clarity
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships

Engineer in Training (EIT) / Validation Analyst

Our client is looking for a MOP Validation Analyst / Engineer in Training (EIT)

Pay rate: $26.52/hr

This is a 1-year contract opportunity.

Position Overview:

The MOP Validation Technician will primarily be responsible for completing Engineering Assessments to evaluate and verify the Maximum Operating Pressure (MOP) of high stress pipeline systems in Gas Distribution areas. The successful candidate is responsible for searching, retrieving, sorting, analyzing and categorizing physical and electronic records, as well as, identifying where/when duplicate records exist so that action can be taken by others. An integral part of the continuous improvement cycle of the program, the Validation Specialist is expected to identify efficiency and effectiveness enhancements.

The successful candidate will verify and sustain pipeline operating limits by completing the following activities under the supervision of a P.Eng/Senior Analyst.


Key Responsibilities


* Perform engineering calculations on all components in existing and proposed pipeline installations to ensure pipelines are qualified to operate within material design and stress limitations, by applying knowledge of stress analysis, fluid mechanics, metallurgy, welding, or corrosion
* Assess pipeline installation and maintenance records to collect and evaluate critical asset and condition information
* Consult codes and standards pertaining to the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of gas pipeline systems, in particular CSA Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems
* Prepare and update technical reports to document activities and decisions relating to engineering assessments
* Prepare field verification work packages to issue to field Operations, per the assessment methodology, to obtain additional material information and create verifiable, traceable, and complete asset records for all components in the pipeline system
* Develop and sustain the MOP assessment methodology according to applicable codes, engineering principles, Company procedures, and industry best practices
* Determine and implement new and existing Company policies, practices, and procedures which may affect the governance and control areas of the Company specific to design, construction, planning, maintenance or records keeping
* Work with the MOP Project Records Coordinator to retrieve physical records from on-site storage and complete requests for retrieval from off-site locations
* Pre-process of documents for further analysis or imaging
* Review, analyze and sort records based on specific research criteria
* Enter descriptive and other metadata before storing/archiving electronic records
* Maintain records research tracking sheets of work completed
* Implement quality control procedures to ensure integrity of documents and/or records metadata
* Identify improvements in processes, systems, technology and procedures

Required Knowledge & Skills


* High level of oral and written communication skills are required for writing technical documents, responding to inquiries, and presenting issues to a variety of audiences
* Co-ordination of multiple projects requires effective organizational skills, results orientation, innovative problem solving and decision making skills, and the ability to work on project teams
* Must be able to quickly understand the impacts of technical and operational issues and provide a safe, thorough, and correct response to inquiries
* Graduates of recognized Engineering programs in a discipline of Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with eligibility to participate in the EIT program of Professional Engineers Ontario


Experience in any/all of the following areas:

  • Gas distribution
  • Pipe design
  • Construction practices
  • Technical records management
  • Previous experience using computer systems to manage data, records and information is preferred
  • Experience reading technical & engineering drawings is required
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction as-builts and technical records
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to efficiently proof read documents
  • Ability to work in a process based environment with high work volumes and transactions
  • Proven ability to plan, organize and execute task objectives required
  • Strong computer skills required - MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS SharePoint; experience in GIS is an asset
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver standard records retention boxes in the 10 to 20 kg range
